Thanks for your comment! OK - I see. I use a heavy tripod and no camera movement at all as the lens I am using is a Canon 800mm f5.6. There is a bit of motion but nothing too drastic. I guess I need to consider what is worse - to have to push the exposure in post and get noise or risk some motion blur. Thanks again, Ofer

Hi all, I have recently bought a second hand BMPC 4K and am very happy with it. I know the 'right' angle when shooting 25p is 180 degrees. However, the other day I needed more light so selected 360 degrees. I did get more light but I wonder what is the "price" I have to pay? Thanks leeys, I had a quick look at the Blackmagic design website and I think both have Super 35mm sensor so I assume IQ should be very similar or identical.

Thanks for the input guys! I am not an expert but I am sure that comparing the GH4 and the Blackmagic design URSA is like comparing apples and oranges when it comes to image quality. Do the URSA and cinema production camera 4K share the same sensor so can expect the same image quality from the BMCP 4K ?

Hi all, I consider getting a video camera in order to get wildlife footage for stock footage libraries. I use Canon long telephoto lenses like the Canon 800 f5.6 L IS, Canon 300 f2.8 L IS, Canon 70-200 f2.8 L IS and more. I will always use it using a tripod. I need to highest possible quality and as 'future proof' as possible. Ignoring the weight - is this the best 4K camera under 10 grand when it comes to image quality? Thanks for your input. Thanks. I am actually not talking about the FPN which is a known general issue of this camera. I am talking about defects specific to a specific camera and are not a general issue like dead pixels, excessive noise in a specific channel or anything else that I am not even aware of but can be present in a 'bad' sample.

Hi all, After getting some good advice in here I have decided to bite the bullet and buy the BMCC 4K. I have read there are 'good' samples and 'bad' samples of this camera when it comes to sensor performance. Please can anyone let me know how can I check the sensor as soon as I get the camera in order to see whether I got a 'good' one? I have no experience with both the C100 or the BMCC 4K but I find it hard to believe image quality of the C100 is better than image quality from the BMCC 4K when shooting in RAW. Would love to hear what people who used both think.

I was hoping to hear from you! ;) As to your questions: Since I am going to shoot in very good light conditions and shutter speed will always be either 1/50 or 1/60 - I don't need the low light performance of the Sony. Is there fixed pattern noise in the image of the BMCC 4K even in 200 iso and in RAW ? I can live without the histogram as Zebra should be fine for me when exposing to the right in shooting RAW. No need for Audio as I will use external recorder. I can live without deleting/formatting of clips as normally I will shoot 10 minutes maximum in 2-3 hours session a day. Can live with external battery as I work with a tripod only with my long telephoto lenses. I am also hoping to get wildlife material as stock footage so I do need the best image quality so yes to RAW. Even with the Atomos Shugon when shooting RAW the Sony won't give me as good image quality as the BMCC 4K RAW? Thanks!

Hi all, I am hoping to start working on a wildlife documentary about the Peregrine Falcon in a few weeks as this is the right time of year for this project in Australia. I am hoping to use my Canon lenses - Canon EF 300, f2.8, L IS, Canon EF 800mm f5.6 L IS, Canon EF 70-200 f2.8 L IS and Canon EF 24-70 f2.8 L IS. I will do all my work in very good light conditions so I am not worried about the poor low light performance of the BMCC 4K. Will always use a tripod - no handheld work. Not going to shoot long sequences and storage is not an issue. The most important considerations for me are: 1. Image quality. 2. Compatibility with my lenses - autofucus and aperture control. Hi guys, I am a wildlife stills photographer but I would like to start working on a wildlife documentary. I own the Canon 5D3 and a good selection of Canon lenses for the job. (24-70 f2.8, 70-200 f2.8, 300 f2.8, 800 f5.6) My question is - would it be possible to shoot 1920x1080 RAW with Magic Lantern, then upscale the footage to 4K? If it is doable - do you guys think the quality of footage obtained with the GH4 will be better than the 5D3 upscaled 4K ? I have tried it with single frames and the quality looks excellent to me however I don't have enough knowledge to predict whether it will work as footage and still don't have the computer to show 4K footage.
