  1. Come on, you had to expect this next logical question, after the 4k to 1080p resample.

I know, 1080p is not four size of 720p. So let's start theory for poor 1080p-people like me who doesn't have money to get 4k.

Today, DSLR shoot in 1080p in 60 fps if we are lucky, but it's enough or could it be. To get better colours, can we use the trick to resample in 720p, in a certain way?

If it's a stupid question, sorry

  2. I can guarantee that the internal XAVC-S 1080p from the A7S will not look as good as getting 1080p from the 4K output and doing your scaling in post with all that processing power available on your desktop.

8bit 4K 4:2:0 = 10bit 1080p 4444 remember. If the maths have complications and gotchas, the image to my eyes does not. The GH4's 4K looks like 10bit when you grade it and when you look at it on a 2K display. Gradations are smooth. Colour is fantastic. Sampling shows no signs of pixilation or jaggedness at 2K. At 1:1 at 4K you do see some aliasing and jaggies from 4:2:0 sampling. They disappear when scaled correctly to 1080p or 2K.

    Everywhere read about 4k 8 bit 4:2:0 = 1080p 10 bit 444.

But i don't read HOW and how simple is this processing.

Also, Andrew, you right 4k is a good 1080p, but a thing i've to say: does not have much sense to buy a 4k camera to use in 1080p. No way.

  3. Really exciting, i've the nikon d5200 and a Sandisk 32gb 45mb/s (hope will be enough for all hack). Maybe we have just to wait the beta version, the d5200 is supposed to be just right now the best cheap option (even if 3300 introduce now 50/60p, so the d3300 could be the best cheaper solution in a few weeks..).

Anyway: can we have in the first post the guide how to hack our cameras? I know for nikon d5200 alpha version is useless. But a general guide could be useful

  4. For me, the 1" sensor of the Rx10, and so its crop factor, make me prefer the A7. What has rx10 more than A7?

But the question is how to fight THE problem: a "cheaper" and light FF-Mirrorless camera body from a way, and an expensive poor set of lenses right now aviable. Yes, you can use adaptors, so, what is the best choose?

    - A m43 lens? All the mft funs are watching this event and are a bit worried the other ones (as Panasonic-Olympus) will follow Sony with NEW mount. There the problem of crop images. In post you can edit and zoom in. But the quality? It's the same?

    - Vintage/Legacy lens. Is there a crop here, or not? The OM lens, for example, do they need an adaptor or don't? Other legacy lens?

    Thanks

  5. Hi guys, i would like to ask some things:

    - It is possible to suggest to panasonic the 1080p 60p mode for Pal version? With a firmware update. It would be great!
    - Focus Peaking and Magnificient view are aviable with a manual lens? Even by pushing a button..the important is that there's...

    Thanks
