How's this possible in the XXI century?

Isn't there a limit for freedom of thinking?

Flat earth theorist !?? Are they kidding me? Why not to simply forbid this kind of acrobatics? Last time I heard there are rules for drones to fly...

Are you really that shocked there are people who believe in a flat earth, considering all of the other ludicrous things people believe? We're humans, we're fallible, our brains look for patterns and connections that may not actually exist. We've always been this way and we always will be.

Why would he, or anyone for that matter, be forbidden to launch a rocket (assuming all of the legal aspects had been taken care of)? I'm not sure if you're asking seriously but who would be the arbiter for allowing or forbidding freedom of thinking? Seems to be a slippery slope to me...

It appears this man was very much a proponent of questioning the world around you; what's wrong with that? Did he take it too far? Probably. "It pays to keep an open mind, but not so open your brains fall out.” (Carl Sagan)

I'm just disappointed he wasn't able to successfully launch the rocket and see for himself that the earth is, indeed, spherical.

  2. Has anyone seen Ken Rockwell's RP review? https://kenrockwell.com/canon/eos-r/rp.htm

    Interesting to note:

    • 4k has ALL-I (480 Mbps) or IPB (120 Mbps). IPB only for 1080p.
    • Canon Log internal??
    • Uncompressed 4K UHD 4:2:2 10- or 8-bit HDMI output with Canon Log. Neutral (Rec. 709 or Rec. 2020) and Cinema EOS Original (Rec. 709) color matrices.

Am I reading this correctly? His reviews are extremely in-depth I can't imagine these are oversights.

You have a point, but in fairness, there has been a strange amount of NX1 comparisons on this particular thread for some reason, and most of them have been a little righteous. Not sure why the NX1, of all cameras, keeps being compared to this one. Is it the h265?

Maybe because those that have bought and used the NX1 haven’t been able to find another aps-c sized camera that compares to the colors, usability, autofocus, ergonomics, specs, experience, etc. since Samsung abandoned their camera division. The XT-3 would be, to those people, the camera that comes close to/bests the NX1 and they would like to discuss it in this thread.

Not sure why everyone with an NX1 feels the need to chime in about how great it is compared to this camera.  I had the NX1 and sold it... haven't looked back... haven't missed it. All my cameras since have been upgrades over the NX1. While it was good for its day, times have moved on. It's not a standard by which all else must be judged,  and frankly never was.

Yeah, how dare people discuss their personal experiences with cameras and compare them. What do they think this is a camera forum or something??

I've become way too run n gun to NOT use VNR, but this is what I don't like about em.

has anyone tried this from GenusTech? It combines VND and polarizer. I wonder if it would alleviate any issues with skin and natural reflections.

This is not about worrying what others think - it’s about some know-it-all joining the lens thread with the sole purpose of trashing the model in my video.

@jonpais He complimented you ("Great images as always") then made an observation about the model not looking natural, which she doesn't. Why are you taking it so personally?

  7. What lynch mob are you guys referring to? I saw people ask for evidence of a claim, which is reasonable, I saw one person act like a jerk, and I saw a few people do some detective work to pretty much show the claims made were most likely false. Now this “kid” is running away because of the way he was supposedly treated?

He gave a date. You're just impatient. End of story.

How can I be impatient if I’m not waiting for anything? I’m simply making an observation. I do, however, enjoy watching all the virtue signaling of “guys he’s just a kid take it easy on him, goooosh”. He’s got a long road in front of him if he can’t handle a few people on the internet being rude. That is, if he is even a “kid.”  It’s not rude to be skeptical on the internet when pretty much everyone is anonymous.

I also enjoyed your generalization of New Yorkers. Very tolerant and liberal of you. The story never ends.

Hi, could somebody tell me the best converter for f.e. H265 to Prores, highest quality, Mac version. Tried Edit Ready and it is fine BUT checking the converted file it seems that it is loosing a biz Highlight and Shadow detail ??

    Thanks

I've always used Rocky Mountain Movie Converter to convert my NX1 h.265 files to ProRes.

Here is an informative thread on Edit Ready:

Other people reported losing highlight/shadow detail. I think it has something to do with 16-235 vs 0-255. I haven't checked that thread in a while but I think I remember Andrew recommending reducing the contrast slider or something to bring the detail back.

    Good luck!

@iamoui ..and those are some of the best news regarding equality of sexes I heard in 2017!

I read this the other day, victims have names, faces, lives, are not just numbers

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/women/life/raped-never-spoke-one-day-work/

Maybe in about 200 years or so KSA will stop flogging women for leaving the house without a male guardian or jailing bloggers or start letting women make their own decisions without a males approval or stop the mandatory covering of the head and body when women leave the house.

    Maybe.

Its just that statistically she has been discriminated against several times through out her career. Be it salary, missed opportunities, asked to get coffee, etc.

Care to share these statistics? You're making pretty large, broad, and definite claims about a woman's life that you don't even know. Has every woman that has ever lived faced discrimination? What about men? Do they not face discrimination, too?

4 hours ago, Mattias Burling said:

This sort of talk is simply not true. Not even the part about profit since its proven that a diverse company are more efficient and makes more profit than one that's not.
They hire men because they are men.

    On another note,
Why people still deny reality and go of into fantasy land I will never understand. It cant be because of an orange president, it must be some sort of gender fanboy mechanism.

You seem very sure of yourself that there is "institutional" sexism or discrimination going on. Again, do you have any evidence? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying sexism and discrimination don't exist. I just think blanketing the whole thing as institutional solves nothing and helps no one. If there are certain, specific instances of discrimination let's fight them because it is wrong.

I don't think companies as a whole are purposely discriminating against women. If they were, women would not be in high positions, which they are.

It sounds to me like you're the one in fantasy land. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not sure what Trump has to do with anything we're discussing here. Seems like low-hanging fruit. Also, not sure what "gender fanboy mechanism" is. I think the arguments you're receiving are logic and reason based, instead of emotional and virtue signaling.

  11. So Nikon did invite female photographers but none of them accepted. How is this sexism, again? Even if Nikon did have some female photographers for the D850, would people complain that there weren't enough of them? Would Nikon have to have an equal amount of female and male photographers for people not to complain? Would they need to have more females than males? Why does it even matter? I think attributing to Nikon that "they think it's too much for women to handle" is incredibly dishonest. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Identity politics is a zero-sum game. Don't play it.

Now in the future Nikon will feel forced to include female photographers for the sake of not being chastised. What if they choose female photographers that don't have as good of work as some male photographers that they wanted originally but they feel the need to choose them just because they're female?

Why didn't Nikon have any non binary, transgender, or genderqueer photographers? I'm offended!
