  1. Ebrahim - That would have been great, but I think we can all agree with Canon it comes down to the dollar. That being said a C300 ll with 4K internal, moderate upgrade in performance/ergo/frame rates/ will be good for just about any of us for the next 24 months. C300 ll will not have body stabilization, but I can see an improved DPAF. Which, believe it or not, some pro DP's are actually using now. I used to think that was a joke, until I saw a recent example with the C100 ll. C300 ll will rent more than ARRI Mini - why? Price.
  2. Let's discuss what's really important..and I mean RIGHT NOW!!! We need to pull ALL our money together - $$$$$ - and get - MAXOTICS - laid right now!!!! There must be a chick somewhere that will fuck this guys head on correctly!! Some girls really do like DOG SHIT!!! ( i hear ER likes these crazy bitches) Ive seen it on the German Tele!! HURRY!! - before he finds EOSHD and assassinates him!!! PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Between the new C300 ll and C500 ll (NAB -April) the Sony FS7 may be dying a quick death - if (in my opinion) the prices are competitive. Filmmakers will go Canon for light weight, ergonomics, lens selection, - nail in the coffin - Color - out of the box...and...uncanny lowlight/dr S35. Dracula (er...canon) returns from the grave in 48 days. www.canonrumors.com
  4. jcs, I'd say the shot at the very bottom is FF. Of course I'm trusting you here
  5. Have not seen that before...I would send it back for a new one
  6. Thanks for all the replys...interesting to say the least.. jcs - thanks for the actual breakdown..it is close on some situations....and obviously if caught up in the story no one is going to notice either way...however technically..with super fast lenses I don't see how Super 35 can match the sharpness/resolution..
  7. Kubrickian - very nice! I'm actually surprised how well the DPAF worked on the Ronin..especially given how fast you were moving..didn't realize the tech was this for advanced..could easily save you in a pinch or even a desonhed shot..thanks for posting...Btw, yes it is funny how every Oscar nom for Best Picture this year was not shot on 4K.. Ebrahim - wise words...since you may be the only person?.. on these boards who have used the C100 and the Sony A7s....can you give while you would pick the C100 for a narrative shoot over the Sony? Is it just the form factor w/XLR and ND's...or...is there another reason?...I realize that the A7s may be a tad softer compared side by side...but not sure...thanks.. j.f.r. - Very true from the examples i've seen AR - We all know the Big 3 read your blog, so I hate to be the messenger that you are officially out of the running for any new gear/financing/ sponsorship by Canon!
  8. The on-going debate/thoughts on: Full Frame vs Super 35 - Here are 4 recent videos shot on both for quick comparison - All shot on Sony A7s (which surprisingly a lot of people i'm finding still do not know the cam shoots both formats) Full Frame - #1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0umR92pwIwQ Full Frame - #2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mMfeCgb_Mg SUPER 35 - #1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaZ9gramvPQ SUPER 35 - #2 https://vimeo.com/102902760 - Try not to judge the content as much as "The Look" Overall on any project/on any cam what format do you prefer??
  9. Cool stuff, mjfan...still hard to believe MJ is dead. The impersonator is spot on. Seems you know your way around the A7s..any tips/suggestions?
  10. Nice work Brad...how is your experience with the A7s?
  11. Obviously the C300 is a much superior camera. Hence the price/feedback/films that were shot with it/Number #1 rented camera of all time. (outside studios) That being said the NX1 takes pretty pictures.
  12. Wonderful..Is this now a self-help Dr. Phil blog for gear heads? Shall I get into all the money I've spent on cameras/gear the last 25 years? What it means? What did it do for me? Well, if I think too hard about it I will self-loathe into multiple Xanax and Oprah re-runs until the Big Sleep takes me away to that special Island. Sign me up..lol
  13. Kubrickian - Nice shooting - it appears to be the best (overall quality) 1080p 60p at this moment..possibly 24p 1080 as well...What's your overall experience with the Mark ll? Please share your thoughts working on a shoot with it. I meant shooting on a 1080p cam (not 4K down) jurand - you are incorrect - C100 Mark ll is superior in every way possible, including DR
  14. Lol...haven't heard his name in 25 years Quality of the footage makes the pain worthwhile
  15. Impressive..and color and sharpness very apparent upgrade from original C100. That little bit extra..may not need external Star now. Really interesting how Canon engineers get this quality HD from lousy AVCHD 28mbps//MP4 35mbps - (on paper) If you're going 1080p for 2015....you must seriously consider this cam.
  16. You may want to check Vimeo. Several guys were allowing this awhile back.
  17. I disagree. If you're looking for proper 1080p in 2015, Sony gives it to you for $2,500 bucks. Dont waste your money on Rebels/Canons if you want the small form factor. Save up for the A7s. Sony gives it to you right now at a great price.
  18. Not sure I've ever heard anyone so down on the ergo of the A7s. What exactly is the problem? Seems much easier to handle/operate/focus (with all the in camera assists) than any Canon or Nikon dslr..including the 1D C. Speaking of the 1D C, it's still shocking after 2 yrs Canon has not added a firmware update with Zebras, Peaking, and 2:35 scope. NAB 2015 is the year of the Canon sequels.
  19. Absolutely agree. April will be fun..Btw, thats a great price on the 1 DX.
  20. Maybe you won't need to buy a used one - February 1, 2015 http://www.canonrumors.com/2015/01/canon-eos-1d-c-price-drops-coming-to-north-america/
  21. shoottheshot, Not sure you'll get it in that price range, check out the cheapest version they have here: https://www.smallhd.com
  22. Jimmy, The 1D C in 1080p 60 is not in S35 mode..its only in full frame mode..no 4K slow mo either. The slow mo is softer than the S35 and/or normal full frame mode..however you can sharpen it up a bit..I'd say close to 5D3 footage. Remember its basically a 1D X, so its (was) the best full frame image till the A7s showed up. Hope that helps.
  23. Much better - from the Canon C100 Mark ll https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AjtPv569rM
