1.
GaryPayton - There already are affordable 35mm digital video cameras. You mean ridiculously affordable no? The GH2 is terrific. If you like it, why are you looking for another camera? You are like a Nissan 350z owner who complains that no-one's made you a 911 for the same money. It will come. In the meantime, just shoot. This camera is probably not made for you. We get it.
I I'm just saying "I hope one day they will come up with a super 35 version of this camera" like many other people hope.  And I'm just saying I want to see some serious footage of this camera before saying it is amazing.
2. yes, so every camera is the same! It only depends from the lenses! Wow, why don't they make a 302020X crop, we'll need the right lens and the dof would be as shallow as in a super sized sensor!!!! And btw. I didn't say the 5dmarkII is the direction to go, I'm again talking about the look of those videos they posted. No sharpness at all, i'm absolutely sure they would be incredible if worked in post, but i will wait to see that. It's my opinion. I'm really excited about this camera BUT i think we have to wait for more tests, that's it. first of all the high iso tests. You people here are gh2 lovers! That camera is still solid at 3200 iso, that's what i want to see from this camera! 35mm and 16mm are not the same, 16 mm is really good but i don't think i'm the only one hoping one day we will have a super 35mm affordable camera.
3. i didn't define cinema, that takes a little more time. I just said, and i repeat : can't see much sharpness and details in those sample videos (GH2 seems well above) and unprocessed 5dMarkII footage got an immediate more cinematic look because of the large sensor (it's not a theory of mine, everybody agrees that the 5d cinematographic look is given by the large sensor). That's it. And we still have to see the main thing : how this camera works at high iso rates...
4. Oh, it's so easy? wow...so a full frame got the same dof than a 2x crop...thanx Sara! You always learn some new incredible theory in the forums!
5. i think they suck too...probably everybody was overblown by the price thing... sure too soon to judge. 5d Mark II (with VAF filter) got a more cinematographic look, and the GH2 gives more details
6.
Eos mount is a very unusual choice if that's the only mount it comes with, You would only be able to adapt it to Nikon and M42 everything else won't focus properly. I can see some problems getting proper wide angles, hopefully it works properly with EF-S lens as well.
Well, thank God i'm not the only one who's not blown away by the price and the Raw format thing  and that's already seeing some serious issues on this camera. And let's not forget. IT'S A CROP SENSOR! It's not a full frame! still is a great news! don't misunderstand me!
7. guys i'm not greedy i'm just dreaming! Maybe in Cuba or Venezuela they'll invent something without charging the price so much! LOL
8. If mine is a wrong attitude then what's this? LOL
If they could've given you more for cheaper, they would have.
Maybe you don't get me. I'm excited just as you are and I'm buying one of these! I'm just hoping one day we will have the complete camera with no dropdowns (90 min battery is already a problem, crop sensor too for all the people that use full frame dslr, and STILL we are forgetting the REAL DEAL, how this camera will work in low light, that's where the game is played), you may say I'm a dreamer...but .....i think it's possible to have the perfect, working class cam
9.
That said, I'm sure most of us would need to supplement this first generation version with a DSLR as a b-cam. Heavy crop factor + unlikely low-light prowess + poor battery life = very specific shooting conditions.
Repeat, the revolution will come the day they will have this approach : "hey, let's make a 35mm sensor...ok, 4:4:4 color workflow, with various lenses mounts to be used with every dirt cheap lens, different battery options and it must work fine at 3200 iso and finally LET'S TASTE EVERY FRAME on a cinema screen" And I'm pretty sure they can make something cheaper than 3000
10. @markm  It's true, it's a ray of hope! But still, we don't know the results (the camera is a prototype, they still don't sell it). I am sure, I am damn sure we can have something better, a 35mm sensor, a camera working with all lenses, without imposing workflows. I repeat : THIS IS GREAT!!!! Don't misunderstand me, I'm excited too! But I still think soon somebody will come out with something CHEAPER and better than this
11.
There is probably not much margin in this camera. I think it is to get people hooked on DaVinci free for post and in the long run, when people do well enough financially, they will upgrade to the larger DaVinci system. In fact, you can only do 1080p in DaVinci free, I believe. An exec for Adobe once stated that they were excited that Photoshop was the most pirated software in the world, because it got people hooked on their workflow. Then when they establish a business in need of legit software, they buy the full version. Like a crack dealer who gives you the first rock free :)
EXACTLY!
12. The Revolution will be when somebody comes out with a camera TESTED on CINEMA SCREEN, a camera made for cinema that can also be used for more simple things, not the opposite.  Just the fact that it has a crop sensor is an issue to me, I mean, we are far from super 35mm. We need a camera with plenty of options for lenses at their maximum capability, no workflow imposition (DAVINCI?!!??!?!?!?!?). It's a good step, but we need MORE. THE REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE TELEVISED
13. Can't talk about that, but in 1 year I hope "we" are coming out with a super35mm camera cheaper than this.
14. still the footage does not look that good to me, I mean, not such a big step.
15. I still cannot believe this little camera can kick my 5dII' ass. But I got nervous some time ago when I had to shoot a fashion event. 5d would have been perferct to shoot pictures, but when you need to shoot video and to mantain the highest possible amount of details this camera does not work good. Great cinematographic look, yes, but sometimes you don't need that look.
16. Hey guys. I'm a canon 5d Mark II user who's been flirting with the gh2 (kind of a platonic love, since I don't have one). Now I'm thinking to finally buy a gh2 to use it alongside my 5dmarkII. I know most of you guys already have one so i know what the answer will be, but if you were in my place, would you buy the gh2 or would save money upgrading you 5dMarkII with the VAF-5D2 filter? I'm really confused, I see the 5d gets much better in terms of sharpness with this filter, but still, the gh2 rocks and it still looks sharper. Any advice? tnx
