1. Here's the link to the prior post: https://bitbucket.org/hudson/magic-lantern/changeset/5f352afee33b This is very new but offers some hope as to possible progress to come!
2. April 9 posting: 422-jpg: fixed 5D2 FullHD size and increased JPEG quality Hope!
3. A few weeks ago from Magic Lantern with respect to frame rates:  > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgFv5uo0geQ - 0.2fps > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHdfrnea6bs - 0.5fps > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpy1hIjqbKE - 1fps > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOCtjAKbBns - 5fps Expect some interesting developments in the next 4 weeks? :P
4. It looks like they'll improve the dynamic range of the camera.  This is excellent.  Now if they could figure out how to get a more detail image - better codec or line skipping issue solved, etc., then the 5D2 moves up on the food chain again.  There has to be a disgruntle Canon employee who knows how to tame this camera and is willing to whisper in their ears...wishful thinking.  Usually programmers put in their little code that can access secret menus.  Just like years back with slot machines.  Some guys figured out a coders "secret code" and put some Casinos to shame till the machines were fixed.  Fun to dream.
5. The surprise comes from a little ISO test, which shows that ML can improve dynamic range and highlight rolloff in movie mode Check out the 2 pictures at the bottom of the link.  Good Stuff.  Perhaps they may eventually find the "golden path" ... http://groups.google.com/group/ml-devel/browse_thread/thread/3cad525f7ddec118
6. I was mentioning awhile back Canon should offered 2 versions of the MD3, with a higher price for better video.  As stated above, Canon is having another version in reality with their 4k DSLR version, which is a modified MD3?  Alot of questions remain.  Price?  Actual image quality?  Compression?  Release date? Lot's of competition coming so you snooze you could lose.  I did read a rumour awhile back about a sub C300 and an above C300.  Only a rumour. We'll see.  Answers coming.
7. TC, keep on writing.  I'm the biggest fool so you'd have to do alot more to catch me. You gotta love competition.  Sony FS700 shipping in JUNE Sony PMW100: 422 color at 50Mbps shipping in MAY JVC 4k fixed lens shipping NOW (BH Photo) JVC 4k interchangeable lens when released??? Panasonic 4k model(s) shipping??? Canon 4k model(s) shipping??? Kineraw 2k - supposedly main land China in May release with world world release later this year. Nikon 1080p now. Canon had such an opportunity with the 5D3 to secure the market and affect the competition's sales.  They could have buried some of the competition.  If the 5D3 could have been more detailed, better codec, etc., people would have been satisfied.  Talked with a major seller, who mentioned how their camcorder sales were dead when the 5D2 was at its height of popularity.  Maybe Canon will surprise people at NAB?  With so much competition now on the horizon and people looking to spend money to upgrade to the next level, the camera maker delivering a product in a timely manner to the market is important.  Sure Canon can announce a top notch camera, but price and availability will be critical factors.  I hope Panasonic announces an excellent camera that will raise our eyebrows to the back of our heads - and hopefully a quick release date too.  Alot of answers coming later this week and early next week.
8. The above example "Zen" has a cinematic feel to it as well as some of the other videos.  I had the fortune to work with a special goose.  His alpha male acting at 1:34 of this video shows his Oscar performance.  Cheers.  Happy Easter to all. http://vimeo.com/39855784
9. You can select the best-suited preset gamma curve to handle contrast and give a specific ‘look’ to an image. There are six types of standard gamma curve, and four types of HyperGamma which are identical to those on CineAltaâ„¢ cameras. http://www.slashcam.de/files/PMW-100_Broschuere.pdf Interesting beast of a camera.
10. The PMW-100:  HD422 mode: CBR, maximum bit rate: 50 Mbps, MPEG-2 422P@HL f = 5.4 - 54 mm (equivalent to 40-400 mm on 35 mm lens) F1.8 - F2.9 auto/manual selectable http://www.pro.sony.eu/biz/lang/en/eu/product/xdcamcamcorders/pmw-100/features
11. NAB: Sony Launches Three New Cameras New products include its smallest XDCAM camcorder as well as new remote and live production cameras By George Winslow -- Broadcasting & Cable, 4/6/2012 12:05:27 PM Sony has announced three new cameras that it will be highlighting at NAB, including PMW-100 handheld camcorder, which become the smallest camera in the XDCAM product line. The PMW-100 XDCAM camcorder, which should be available in May, with a suggested list price of $4,500, is another example of how vendors are responding to increased demand for smaller, lighter, less expensive products. "Advancements in digital imaging technology have enabled journalists and professional videographers to cover stories by using portable devices such as cell phones, DSLRs, and consumer camcorders," said Tatsuro Kurachi, senior manager, Professional Solutions of America, Sony Electronics, in a statement. "However, when compared to traditional shoulder-mount camcorders, there is still a significant gap in image quality, ease of editing, and data management. The PMW-100 achieves the best of both worlds, by recording full broadcast quality MPEG HD422 video within a hand-held form factor." In addition to the PMW-100, Sony also announced a new remote camera designed to offer higher quality images. The BRC-H900, which is equipped with three ½ type Exmor HD CMOS sensors, offers HD 1920 x1080 pixels with 1,000 TV lines (horizontal) in HD-SDI mode. That camera should also be available in May with a suggested price of $14,500. Also available in May will be two new cameras -- the HDC-2000 and the HDC-2550 -- that are designed to expand the range of live production solutions offered by Sony. Both the HDC-2000 and HDC-2550 models offer improved picture quality with the newly developed 2/3-inch-type Charge-Coupled Device (CCD) image sensor and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) with a 16-bit A/D converter. Sony has not released pricing for those two cameras. The PMW-100 uses a newly developed 1/2.9-inch Exmor CMOS sensor and comes with a 5.4-54mm (40-400mm in 35mm equivalent) zoom lens. Targeted for production environments where users need a smaller, more mobile solution, it fits into existing XDCAM workflows and productions that are using other XDCAM cameras, such as the Sony PMW-500. It supports full HD video at 1080i, 1080p and 720p up to 50 Mbps MXF record and playback based on the MPEG HD422 codec using the standard MPEG HD422 Long GOP compression technology. For recording media it can use high speed SxS PRO memory cards as well as SD cards, Memory Stick media, and XQD cards as an "emergency" secondary media. The camera also incorporates HD/SD-SDI output, Composite Out, Genlock input, time code in/out, i.LINK (HDV/DV) in/out, and A/V Out.

21. Vitaliy_Kiselev5:51PM Can you talk about the technical limits of the GH2? It need some research, as no one made it fully, as I understand. I know more about next Venus LSI limitations. 24. Have my doubts about those chart shots, which I saw earlier. Those links seem broken can you repost? Those charts were from a post from some guy on dvxuser.net.  If I'm on the forum and can find the links, I'll post. Who says the FS700 won't do 'real' 1080p as well? The post was positive towards the FS700 saying it will have true 1080p.  On the other hand, the FS100 isn't true 1080p.
