To verify the findings I'd use a small temperature probe inside the card slot.
The card's contact area seems to be located close enough to the critical parts (CPU/RAM) to give a reasonable representation of what's goig on inside.
Even more so during the cooling down phase when no extra heat is generated.

2h of recovering time means, the camera is almost thermally isolated. It literally "keeps" the thermal energy.
A teapot cools down faster.
If it really had a metal body all round figures would be much better.
What if the display is flipped out? This helps with some cameras.

1. Can‘t comment on the overheating at this time.
2. The internal screen and touch function is disabled when I plug an HDMI monitor.
