Speaking of Die Hard, American Cinematographer just posted a podcast with DP Jan De Bont, in which he goes in depth on the cinematography in that film.

Which scene were you looking for? I love this movie.

It's the scene where MacReady is outside and approaches the tarped helicopter, and the wind causes the tarp to billow, giving it a life of its own -- very eerie....

It's easy to quote clips from all the gory/crazy parts of this film, but it's the deliberate, measured pacing of these quiet scenes that charge up those moments with impact.
