The Samsung NX1 is a pretty incredible camera! Especially for the price of $1499. I've been getting myself comfortable shooting with it and in the process edited this test video together.

The Camera has a 6.5k super 35mm sensor that it down samples to 4k bringing a very detailed 4k image that rivals that of the most expensive cameras out there. Even those ranging above 20 grand.

The Camera is also capable of shooting 120 FPS at 1080p with hopes of achieving 240 FPS in the next firmware update.

The Camera records to H.265 allowing for very small file sizes while maintaining excellent quality.

The camera also has 11.5 stops of dynamic range which is perfectly usable and on par with cameras like the Blackmagic production camera, Canon C300, Red Scarlet, and so on.

Camera: Samsung NX1
Lens: Rokinon 24mm f1.4

I'll be doing some more tests today. I'll make sure to include audio. I also did a test a few days ago where I have audio from the on board mic. right here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihu_Z8B7xcY

I'm also making a short film on this camera in about a week to show off how it handles as a story telling tool.

Get a shoulder rig man, great shot setups in here but it looks like it was shot with an iphone because of the jitter.

Most of these shots were slightly stabilized in post and still looks jittery haha! I have plenty of rigs I could/should of used but only had about 10 minutes to get the footage and was really just wanting to see how it performed in day light. It's also good to know hand held isn't so great :P

oh common now you are comparing to Red Scarlet professional film cameras if it was good as red camera then Hollywood would spend 2k instead of 30k for camera or 60k for Arri

BUT BUTTTTTT- The camera is just a tool. This trailer fooled a ton of film guys into believe it was film, yet it was shot on the 5D. I honestly never thought this could have come from a 5D

I honestly think DSLRS are great for films. Look at the season 6 finale of House! It was shot on a 5d and looks incredible!! Same with Act Of Valor!! That was a bug budget Hollywood movie shot 90% on 5d's. If a Canon 7D can be used to make features like "Like Crazy" then an NX1 should be perfectly usable at 4k! Hollywood movies use expensive cameras because they are better in different ways. It's going to be much easier to make an arri Alexa look like a movie than it will for a NX1 so Hollywood of course will use the best there is. But if you know what you're doing the NX1 can be used as a story telling tool just as much as a red can. It'll take more work but for the price I wouldn't mind working a bit harder.
