SLR Magic Anamorphot Timelapse Workflow

Recommended Posts

Hi guys! I'm an anamorphic newbie and just bought the SLR Magic Anamorphot. I'm planning on using it with my BMCC, BMPCC and also for timelapse shooting with my Canon 5D Mark II.

I would like to know the details on how to stretch images and setup the correct aspect/pixel ratio on AE CS6.

My normal workflow for timelapse editing is as follows:

Shoot RAW images with Canon 5DII

Deflicker on LRTimelapse

Color correct on Adobe Camera RAW

Import to Adobe After Effects CS6 to reframe, pan, zoom

Export Pro Res HQ 1920x1080

Edit on FCP7

I would like to take full advantage of the 5D full frame and stills aspect ratio and output 2.5k and Full HD (horizontally) footage. I will probably edit the timelapses directly on Adobe After Effects.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I've really enjoyed watching your work over the years (timescapes) and I look forward to seeing what you can do with this adapter! I understand your workflow well and own the adapter, I just don't feel comfortable enough to advise at this point. How were you planning to Bramp and is there anyone else trying to use the GH4 with "holy-grail" success? The reason I am asking is that I came across a clip or two, from someone using the GH4, that was very smooth.

Thanks a lot! I was not planning on bramping with anamorphic yet.

      - PRICE: $599
      - STRETCH: 2X
      - FOCUS: Double-focus
      - PAYMENT METHOD: Paypal (fees to be paid after initial payment)
      - LOCATION: Switzerland
      - SHIPPING: Not included
      - INCLUDED: Redstan rear adapter with foot support and Redstan front clamp (value = $100).
      - CONDITION: No scratches and no fungus. Clean glass with the exception of a couple tiny spots on the rear glass. A couple of VERY light scratches that are only noticeable under a light source. Body shows some signs of wear but it works perfectly. Coatings are not flamboyant but the lens creates these signature purple/orange flares perfectly well. I wasn't able to get 1000% tack sharp images, so the lens might need to be serviced. It gives reasonably sharp results though, and my issue might actually come from my taking lens. Bought it from a fellow member of the Anamorphic Shooters group on FB and barely used it because of a decrease in filmmaking activity.
      - COMMENTS: I can send some footage via wetransfer. Open to offers.

      Hey All,
Bought this Moller Anamorphot 32/2x back in 2016 (imported from Germany) with the intention of cleaning out the fungus/haze inside both the front and rear elements of the glass. Alas, I couldn't figure out a way to do it so I left it sitting in a drawer ever since! From memory, I don't remember seeing any visible effects to image quality when I tested it. BUT am selling this as Not Working/Spares/Repairs. Please bare this mind! [UK ONLY].
I'll also include the step down/up rings which allows attachment of the unit to a 52mm front lens thread.
Price: £199.00 GBP (Inc UK Postage)
      Payment via Paypal.

Hey, all I am testing waters for my bolex 16/32. In good condition, has really slight imperfections dust/coating mark on the lens but doesn't affect the image quality at all. No cracks/fungus/deep scratches.
Has the rapido mount which is 67MM but included is a 52MM adapter. Front thread is 62MM
I used this mainly on a Sony A7S Mark II 50MM Full frame and 35MM in APS-C while shooting 16:9.
Really nice lens, it can close focus to 1M with no diapoters which works for most cases.
I just don't use this specific anamorphic as much unfortunately and possibly could be used by someone else?
Included is a 62MM Variable ND filter for free
      Make me some offers.
