Hi,

I am really confused between which camera i should buy.

Normally do Landscape Photography and Videos(25%).

Have gone through many reviews about camera and lenses and finalize these combination :

Sony a6000 + SEL 18-200

Canon 70D + 18-135 STM

All three above setups are costing me Equal!

I will add a 10-18 STM later on if i go with 70D.

Please advise in which setup i should invest.

PS: Coming from a 1000D and a P&S which i use for HD Videos

Yes God the Canons look hideous in wide landscape videography :D For anything else it's very good. I was just testing one of these Canons against an Ipad Air for fun, the Ipad won in wide detailed shots, with more details, less moire and aliasing...

For landscape still photography all the more dynamic range you get at ISO100-ISO400 will matter a lot, and that's where Canon sensors are lagging behind.

Here's a comparison between the Sony A6000, Nikon D5300 and Canon 70D sensors:

http://www.dxomark.com/Cameras/Compare/Side-by-side/Sony-A6000-versus-Nikon-D5300-versus-Canon-EOS-70D___942_919_895

I've shot landscape photos on Nikon D200 at around 11.5 EV stops of dynamic range, Sony NEX-5R at 13 EV stops, and the Nikon D800 at 14.1 EV stops. I can tell you that the difference from 11.5 EV to 13.1/13.5 EV stops (as for A6000 / D5300) is a major one. I wouldn't ever go back into shooting landscapes with less than 13 EV steps of DR.

Thanks for clearing me out!

Now what i think, i will get a a6000 ( it is my first preference!)

If I was you I would wait for the new cameras announcement during Photokina in September, there should be some pretty good stuff.

But otherwise I would go for the Sony a6000 without regret.

Daniel ....i have been waiting for too long....So it time for an upgrade!

But from which lens i should start? 18-105, kit lens, 18-135?

I love wide angle Photography and thats why 10-18 is on my list...but if i go with sony , a 10-18 will blow my budget!

I can understand the recurring question of one camera for stills and video, but for landscapes and video, this makes this a very interesting question.  I will watch this thread with a lot of interest!

A couple of questions, is it for paid work?

What volume of landscapes say per month are we talking about?
