Best looking skin tone from Roman's clip by far, even though I think it comes at the cost of not having enough green in the trees/grass.

Yeah, Tetrachrome 400 is quite a warm LUT, but the greens suffer. I see the LUT as the starting point of a good grade.

I think this looks pretty good.

"Can the Sony A7s really give good skin tones? David Carstens has the answer."

The saturation is up so high in the grade to fix the skin tones, the sky has now gone bluish.

I love the dynamic range.  It really is good, but trying to band aid the Sony colors seems like an exercise in futility.

The colors just don't pop for a lot people. They do look a bit "off" or "washed out" or "desaturated" or whatever the catch phrase of the week is. You can tweak it to death in post, but alas, its a ton of work if your picky.

Nikon and Canon colors look fantastic out of the box. I believe that's all he was trying to say.

Nope he said it's futile to try to fix Sony colors (I wonder why he's still in this thread, though, I don't haunt topics of cameras I don't like)

And I agree with you that most of the footages don't have that pop. But with such a flat footage it's normal to see 90% of the videos online not being graded properly. The BMPCC when it first came out was also a nightmare in post. The internet was also full of weird, desaturated BMPCC clips just like it is now with the A7S. Just give it some more time to see where it goes. The last two videos in this thread were close to perfection, though.
