I'm having a hard time getting an answer from them about focus throw. They say it rotates 360 with no hard stops. That's fine, but I'm curious if the distance from MIN to INFINITY increases with the gear mod.

Yes...proceeding with caution is the right way...the problem often lies in lack of clear communication, rather than build quality...still, your needs not met, is money down the drain...

Would be awesome to have the panasonic 20mm 1.7 pancake modded. Well, I couldnt afford it, but would love to see the result of such optical and mechanical beauty.

Agreed...except one of the best aspects of that lens is the fact that it's a pancake....on a stabilized camera, you can be on any street corner grabbing stellar footage while attracting no more attention than a tourist!...huge value in that stealth factor for me...I've actually contemplated the 14mm 2.5 Panny pancake for this very reason...they are tiny and optically excellent for the price!

I think for street photography I´d love to shoot with an Oly EM10 and the 14mm Panny lens. The autofocus of my 20mm is bugging me, manual focus is not

a pleasure neither. It has beautiful optics with cheap ergo and not pleasant tactile features. So the 20mm in the gestalt of a SLR Magic 12mm 1.6 would

be awesome. Would be my one and only lens if I had to choose.

I'm developing a mocumentary project with the style of 16mm documentaries like Crumb and American Movie, so I tested my Fujinon 18-108mm c-mount zoom on the Panasonic G7, in CinelikeD with Super 16 Gorilla Grain. I like the results so far. I was pleased that the Fujinon barely vignettes in 4K, only really when it's focused close. It seems to work better if I'm 5-6' away. This was mostly shot wide open at f/2.5, with maybe one or two F/4 clips. I still need to test this at more f-stops and distances.

Loving these old school zoom lenses here and in the 16mm thread, adds such a great aesthetic to videos that is super under-utilised these days.

Question for everyone. Bought a Canon FD 85mm 1,8 lens, really like it. But for the first time, the adapter I bought for it, a OK-priced K&F Concept adapter flares like crazy. Has anyone tried sticking textured tape (flocking paper?) to the inside of an adapter and been OK with it? Kind of worried about any loose fibres attaching themselves to the sensor.

And after deciding that lens, lights and monitors come before beautiful RAW footage (ciao, C200), I'm looking at native Sony glass to buy. Any Sony 16-35 f4 owners here? I like the look of it for the Zhiyun. I'd like to buy a 24-70, and the GM is amazing, but it's too goddamn heavy and $$$. I'll wait and see if Sigma do a native zoom that works well. Yet to hear any kind of feedback about the Tamron 24-70 2.8 on a Sony mount.

nikkor 35mm f1.4 ais & nikkor 85mm f2 ais on a metabones speedbooster xl. I love how these things perform especially with a black pro mist filter  ??‍♂️

Just bought myself a Black Pro Mist 1/4 after watching your stuff over the past few months. Hoping I can get at least somewhere close to the look you manage to achieve, fine stuff!

And I ordered some flat black spray paint for this adapter. I'll keep you all updated, sure you're all desperate to have a progress report.

It has lower resolution than the 28mm 2.8, which is due to its nature of having shorter focal length. Didnt put it to proper testing when it comes

to bright sunlight other "bad" light though. It is not a resolution monster for sure. You might wanna get the Tamron 20-40 2.7-3.5 for much cheaper.

It should be just as good on the wide end. If shot on APSC even better due to less vignetting compared to photo full frame format.

Anyone here familiar with the Olympus 17mm f/1.8? Kinda curious about it, since it has that 17mm focal length, MF clutch especially and compact size. Didn't really consider it before, but now we have sensor stabilization on the Panasonics, it might be quite dope. Aside from the build quality and the sub-f/1.8 light gathering capability, think it might be a cheapo Nokton 17.5mm for us that like the focal length and MF.

Eewww that skin tone is ugly as hell ! Olympus lenses are probably fine tuned for olympus color science ? Idk but this looks bleh. The voigtlander and pana-leica lenses had way better results

Ah yeah, I feel so dumb now with my googley skills and otherwise pretty solid memory.  I've totally seen that, just to have totally forgotten about the fact that I had! Thnx.

Good point, looks like it has a gold diffusion filter in front or something... definitely it's the Voigtländer that makes my nipples the hardest as well. Hum, food for thought. Someone has an E-M5 with the Voigt (bit of cosmetic wear) up for sale, is aiming for 850 bucks (as in EUR, without the body is about 200 off, so 650-ish). Maybe I should drop by and see what's what.

Maybe you could make the 17mm f/1.8 sing somehow though, like proper whitebalance settings, tone adjustments or something. Still might have something weird going on otherwise, but if there's more experiences out there, please feel free to share your thoughts.

Always think Flickr pools are a decent resource for lenses as you generally get thousands of examples to look at and they come from a very broad range of lighting conditions and subjects.

And because the exif data is generally intact you can see what camera they were used with then you can see if they are tuned for their native cameras etc

It won't give you that same degree of feedback regarding handling for things like AF or IS and so on like YouTube or Vimeo does but its a lot easier to have an overview based on multiple sources of its general optical performance.

I think @jase made a very nice video with that lens.

I'm in love with how natural this looks.

What grade of Warm Black Mist Pro filter did you use?

Grades 1,2,3 are a bit to much like a 1970's porno according to what I've read.

1/2 is supposed to be most popular, still a strong haze but not overbearing.

1/4 is more subtle and natural.

1/8 is the least noticable.

I love the softening of the harsh highlights in this scene, but preservation of detail on the pavement and shutters... amazing. Really takes the digital edge of it and actually looks like haze in the atmosphere rather than a filter.
