Letus Anamorph-X GP?

Letus has an interesting anamorphic adapter for GoPro Hero 3+.  However I think just having "bent glass" is not enough.  I think all they really did is make the optics wider but not necessarily good for anamorphic.  A single wide optic.  And the flares are bent too.  Very strange look.  Goes to show that anamorphics aren't easy to produce and aren't made for super wide angle shots.

Yeah its a bit extreme for my taste. The little GoPro version seems fair for the price though. I mean shooting with a GoPro is mainly for style/unique shots/fun and so if the already existent barrel distortion is increased further and you get a horizontal flair I don't think it's a huge deal. But correcting in post might defeat the 1.33x squeeze.

I wonder if it looks anamorphic at all.  Not really an anamorphic option for super wides anyway.  I believe the only superwide cine lens was at 20mm used for the remake of Total Recall.  Even then, what's the point I guess?

I guess if they really wanted continuity with crash-cam footage, from flares I guess and then the focal length benefits from not having to crop, which lengthens the lens.  But like their full-size adapter it doesn't really like to flare.  I'd like to see more drone footage.  I'm surprised their video wasn't just slopping over with drone footage.

Of course you could also get one of those re-house jobs on the GoPro which replaces its limited built-in lens with a C-Mount and then that opens up all sorts of possibilities.

I just tried this out the other night and I like it a lot...rather have it on when it makes sense.  It doesn't make sense in a lot of applications because the lens is actually kind of heavy so it won't work well in places where you need the GoPro to be as light as possible (like it won't work with the DJI H3-2D, H3-3D on Phantom, etc.)  but for things like cars, etc. it's great.  Will try out on my helmet at the track on Wed.

Thank you for posting this!  I think the 4K 2x speedup is genius!  I wonder how you removed the fisheye effect?  Looking at this, way better than Letus' own video.  I just wish this could go on a gimbal, I was thinking of primarily aerial video with the GoPro.  Maybe need a beefier gimbal.  Again thanks for this video!

I removed the fisheye with a plugin called "fisheye removal" from fcpeffects.com - and as far as a gimbal, any of the larger beefier ones should carry the weight of a GoPro with this lens like this one  http://tppacks.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=60&product_id=56

Wow, this video alone has changed my opinion on this adapter! Great stuff.

OK that's an awesome plug-in!  Really makes the video shine without the fisheye effects.  Thanks for making this.  Really changed my mind about the Letus+GoPro!
