Doesn't surprise me at all.  My 50D gets warm within 30 seconds of shooting raw.  I've never understood all these people complaining about the battery as if the engineers who made the camera, know nothing, and just picked up the first battery they saw at Radio Shack ;)

I still have one question for Black Magic...

Why isn't it camcorder shaped?

The shape makes no sense to me, since you actually cannot use it handheld like a compact camera, due to jello, and it doesn't take stills.

It's like tradition has stepped in front of design for purpose...

Come on, be a bit more... well i hate to say it... be a bit more APPLE!

I haven't used a BMPCC, but it occurs to me that its footprint is nearly identical to that of the NEX series of cameras -- this would be advantageous for using widely available rigs that are designed for that class of cameras. As far as I know, the small-size camcorder market is not very popular for professional video use and so there aren't many good rigs suited to that form factor. There are remote helicopters designed for use almost exclusively with the NEX that could work with this camera, as well.

  • 2 months later...

Stay tuned for Part 2

Nnngh.... nnngh... pfff... phew!

That was me finally giving up and no longer holding my breath waiting for the Part 2 to appear.

I'll stop holding my breath for xmas, but I do hope it'll appear soon.

Right after the holidays.  :P

Meanwhile, Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays to everyone, with or without the BMPCC. Cheers!

That's a great point and it's kinda obvious too!! It's not a stills camera, it should have been shaped like a camcorder?
