Shot on GH5 with store sequence in 4k anamorphic mode with Baby Hypergonar 1.75x anamorphic attachment. Taking lens was MeVis 50mm f1.8 shot wide open. Outside shots in 4k with Bolex 8/19 1.5x anamorphot with MeVis 35mm f1.6. Shot at f2.8 with ND filter. Rectilux ProtoDNA variable diopter was used as well as Fujinon Close Up attachment. Colored with Film Convert.

I wanted this to be a light and fun run and gun test vs a highly technical test.

Here is my write up on the ProtoDNA. I will add more info later.

Here are some pics of my 8mm anamorphic lens with the ProtoDNA.

You should have bought that Pink Flamingo instead LoL. Everyone in Florida is suppose to have one in their front yard. That looked liked a Voodoo Doll that put a hex on you. Well done.

Thanks! The funny thing is my wife who is in the video is the one who made the doll too. See does not need Voodoo because she could poison me any day of the week. ;)

One thing I realize is when I put 50% grain on filmconvert it ends up looking like noise. Image was super clean before.

This actually look really good! I like the music too. Did you do work in post to minimize breathing compared to the previous core DNA or is breathing improved in the ProtoDNA? Is this going to replace the coreDNA?

The link of your write up doesn't work.

Here is the link again on write up.

Thanks! I did not do anything in post to minimize breathing. The Hard core DNA is for 16mm and 35mm projection scopes and the ProtoDNA is for us weirdo's who love shooting with 8mm anamorphic scopes. :)

This link works on write up.

I recently found and bought a kowa B&H 2x from a local camera store. I am not very knowledgeable with anamorphic shooting but all I know is I love it a lot! What's the difference between 16mm/35mm and 8mm anamophic scopes? Does that mean if I were to get the ProtoDNA, it will not work on my Kowa?

I really like how the breathing is well controlled on the ProtoDNA compared to the core DNA.

@Ian Edward Weir Nice footage, thanks for sharing this, I have been looking for something to work with the baby hypergonar 1.75x, also interested if the ProtoDNA works with the Kowa 2x, it is a little unclear from your write up? Thank you ?

Thanks, I have the Kowa 2x and I'm gonna shoot a little test with it and the ProtoDNA soon. It does work but I find the Kowa 2x to be slightly more difficult to work with then the Bolex 8/19 or Baby Hypergonar. It's more difficult to pull focus and getting infinity is tricky. It still looks great. I have not tried the widest but a 50mm works with no 1.4x tele needed in 4k and works in 6k. Will post here when it's done. Cheers.

This is really nice.
One unrelated question, did you have the IBIS on?  I own GH5S and I like it a lot, but what I am really struggling with is the handheld footage.

Thanks Mirekti. Yes, I do have the IBIS on. It would be imposable to hold a 200mm steady handheld without it. Usually you can get away with wide angle lens and holding hand held but the longer the more shack will be introduced. It will be interesting to see what Panasonic does with next iteration of GH5 and GH5's. The IBIS is nice but wish I had a small shoulder rig or mono pod to get even smoother shots. I could have done warp stabilizer in post to help it out but wanted to see what it looked like without.
