Andrew Reid 6,859 Report post Posted October 23, 2018 The Nikon Z7 could well be the best ever camera for adapting manual focus lenses. Read the full article 2 Inazuma and webrunner5 reacted to this
docmoore 102 Report post Posted October 23, 2018 I have been waiting for the Novoflex LEM to Z adapter ... shown on their website but no shipping to the US. So hopefully BH will have them one day. Focus by wire with the 24 - 70 is marginal at best. Nice pictures in the article.
BasiliskFilm 68 Report post Posted October 23, 2018 Nice Saluki cross (?) hound, btw. Is it yours Andrew?
Mark W 1 Report post Posted October 23, 2018 Very curious about the more problematic but fun and potentially interesting cinematically lenses... Do you have any of the wide Voigtlander's or Elmarits/Summicrons? Voigtlander 12m or 15mm and the Elmarit or Summicron 28mm would be really interesting to see with the thin sensor glass. 1 Vintage Jimothy reacted to this

Yes nice dog-eye you have - he is indeed a saluki cross! Crossed with what I don't know. Possibly a chimp. We did a DNA test on him last week and waiting to hear the results. Vintage Jimothy 22 Report post Posted October 24, 2018 Any chance you'll upload some video footage of the Z7 + Noctilux combo, Andrew? The photos obviously look stunning, but I really want to see just how cinematic these new Nikons can be when paired with the right lenses.

We are whippet people, but salukis would be our other hounds if we lived on our own country estate... Would be interested to hear the DNA, I hear the tests are now getting more reliable than they once were as the databases get larger.
Lukas Kalinowski 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2018 Wow Thanks for such great comparision of all main players at the time! So cool to see all of those tools at once!
norliss 25 Report post Posted October 24, 2018 Good stuff and lovely pics @Andrew Reid - I think there may be a typo on the second line though. Where you say "Until now my two favourite lenses for 4K video" did you mean cameras? Looking forward to seeing some video footage from the Z7.
Andrew Reid 6,859 Report post Posted October 24, 2018 Ah yes thanks for spotting that. Should say: "Until now my two favourite cameras for shooting 4K video with manual focus lenses have been the Leica SL and Sony A7 III." 1 norliss reacted to this
tomsemiterrific 159 Report post Posted November 24, 2018 Andrew, I just received a Z6, and it looks promising. I've got an FD, M42, and EF to Z mount adapters ordered, but the Chinese, in good form, are taking their time getting them to me. Not shocked to see Nikon nomenclaturists to have invented all kinds of new terms NO ONE ELSE uses. Like listing "highlights" when they should list "zebras." In that vein, I cannot find where they list "shoot without lens" and where you can inform the camera what focal length you're shooting. Can you kindly help me with this?
