That 24-70 looks Sony GM sized, but that's to be expected. The 14-30 looks pretty reasonable given how wide it is, doesn't look much larger than the FE 16-35/4 outside of a fatter front element. I dig that Nikon is giving the Otus line the middle finger with the Noct. Hopefully they build more.

That is one big lens! :-o You really realize how gigantic it is when mounted on a camera and next to other lenses:


 

And it seems Nikon will quickly by the end of next year have filled out the core zoom and primes most shooters would want to see them starting out with:

I really feel bad for my Canadian buddy who sold all his Nikon gear to go with Fuji because of back focus issues, only to sell all that off at a great loss to buy the Sony a7rIII for more megapixels and who is now probably kicking himself in the pants because of the Z cameras. ?

WOW, 10 bit Nlog, for me what a surpise, I went to sleep with the latest rumors being same as Nikon D850 but woke up to 10bit Nlog. The closest thing to and Arri Alexa colours and hopefully dynamic range, with good to great autofocus video autofocus with full frame esthetics. Yesssssssssssss

What the hell man. Nothing to do with fan boy, i dont care about Sony go see other threads where I make bold critics on them. 
I am sorry but you dont know how that IBIS will compare with the A7, the 10 bit external is fully useless for me and many people : I buy a mirrorless for its small size, not to put an external recorder on it. 
The battery life is half of the A7 and the AF points less than half. Not to mention the new lens mount means not many options for years.

The ergonomics will kill the Sony and it has better things too (codec and colours in video probably, EVF resolution, ...) but overall it's not really innovative. 

I would have much preferred buy a Z6+7 than an A7SIII + A7RIII for video and stills, but there is absolutely 0 doubt the A7SIII will be much better for video. When it comes to Z7 and A7RIII for stills I would rather buy the Z7 but it does not make sense to not have a combo from the same manufacturer. 

I sent back my A7III this week. Waiting to see the A7SIII and what Canon brings to the table

Yeah and  No internal N-Log is sort of crazy also. They had made this camera where you kind of Have to buy an external recorder if you want any sort of good DR. And then they are talking like 12 stops, pretty good but not great either. I mean it has some really nice stuff in it, but where it really counts, DR, and a thicker Codec you are not going to have a small package, and you are going to shell out some pretty big bucks between the two to make it happen. But it is a huge plus for Nikon to even offer it at all, I will give them that. It will be a hit for them no doubt. A few firmware updates and it might be sorted out a bit more also. Damn good for a first try.

The bit that overheats is the processor. When it does, it throttles, and no longer can do the compression, hence you stop recording. Battery has nothing to do with it.

Don't underestimate Nikon's flat profile. Mattias Burling had estimated 2014's D750 Flat profile DR at +13 stops:

These 2018 Z series BSI sensors should push out the same if not better DR internally..

Yeah the Nikon Flat Profile is nuts and it’s in all of their newest model cameras... even the D3400 which can be bought for less than $300, with the kit lens, has the Flat Profile. 

The Z6 looks like a beast. However I still think the new lens mount was a tragic error.

It doesn't have an internal Log, and it is 8bit, an outdated Codec, and only 24mps @ 30p and you think it is going to get over 13 + stops internally?? Really?

Well why the hell would Anybody ever buy this New BM PK4? It is Only 12.5 to13 as BM is stating it stops wise.

Actually if Nikon claims the cameras have 12 stops in video, I would guess it's a little less than 12 stops.

Nikon Flat is very similar to Canon Log, so around 12 stops sounds plausible.

The proof is in the pudding. Sony claims 14 stops on A73 and that's an 8-bit codec . So yeah why get the BM P4K? we all know some companies fudge these claims, others are more conservative.Nikon is probably the later, they gave a CIPA rating of 10-15mn video battery life, yet Fro dude says " The battery read 44% at the end of our shooting which included 500 or so photos, setting up the menus as well as filming for close to 20 minutes in full frame 4k."

I think anything over 11 stops is acceptable for these cameras... if somebody needs more rent an Alexa.

We’ll have to wait and see, but this camera seems to be a pretty nice hybrid. Good internal image when you need a small footprint or add a cage, a Ninja V and all the goodies when you need a higher FF output with a relatively small footprint.

Right. I had a shooting day yesterday, so I haven’t been catching up, but is the 1080p a downscale from 4K? If so, 10bit 1080p ProRes to a Ninja Star sounds pretty okay to me.
