Does BRAW bake in sharpening compared to cinema dng?  What about noise reduction?

"Part of the RAW processing is moved out of software and into the camera, where it can be accelerated. Noise management, sensor profiling and new edge reconstruction algorithms are used to produce high quality cinematic images with incredible depth, crisp details and beautiful image separation. "

When you select RAW as the codec, you can't select the sharpening level in the camera. When you select ProRes, you can select the sharpening level.

In short, why not also ETTR along the P4K as much as with the previous Blackmagic cameras?

Ah, Ok then I have already responded.

I find the best results when I expose correctly with the Pocket 4k. I also almost always stay at 400.

Yup.

Have anyone heard anything about the new P4K Metabones?

I would be reluctant buying one of the older ones, knowing that a new specialized one is coming.

Does any of the cheap ones work?

I have a lens regain for now.

I use the Metabones 0.71x and it works perfectly. I use it mostly with the Sigma 18-35, but it works well with other lenses. My understanding was the P4K version was going to be somewhere between the 0.64x (which can vignette) and the 0.71x and perhaps have a few other features.

A new Specialist adapter with a new specialist price no doubt. Tom antos has a video comparing the speedboosters and he reckons all the metabones adapters work fine on the p4k. I'll be looking for a second hand one for now probably a .64 for the slightly wider or full frame look. That might vignette with the tokina 28-70 at some point I am guessing. But nothing ventured nothing gained.

"Each Speed Booster® is designed specifically for the filter stack of the sensor."

It may be something specific and significant. I assume the pricing will be similar to the Ultra, and they already sell 2 products for the camera, I do not see that they would have a new product if they didn't have a specific reason.

Would they lie about it? Maybe they have inside knowledge that we do not, and the Speedbooster is a very important part of the P4K ecosystem anyway.

Could be an IR filter there? Or an IRND?

I have the Regain already, so I will be looking for an adapter without glass to pair that in the early days, of September, I guess.

How's the Viltrox ones I wonder, the M1 and M2 and if there is any other cheap adapter worth mentioning here.

The bm p4k is my first  video camera so my knowledge isn't that extensive. I am reasonable sure there was an issue with the filter stack on the earlier black magic pocket cameras and adapters or boosters. Tom antos doesn't recommend the .58 speedboster for the p4k which is the original speedbooster for the bm pocket camera I think. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. By the way have you watched Tom antos comparison on speedboosters for the p4k? Personally I liked the .64 for the look it provides as I'm  not a fan of the 2x crop but maybe that's just me.

Once that MetaBones BM one comes out, maybe Viltrox will get their shit together and make a better version to compete.  $700 is kind of out there for an adapter.

Here the Viltrox is 180€ and the Metabones 780€!

The price difference is so vast that I am thinking to get both the M1 and M2 just in case. Both are a little bit over 300-320€.

Are there not any other brands?

Competition would be a good thing. Maybe we could convince that BTM Pix guy to do something. Lol.

That @BTM_Pix guy is getting lazy. He runs only 49 promised projects simultaneously, a hundrend we do not know yet, and another hundrend projects we will never know about!

Trust me, its the hundred and first project that you don't know about that will really blow your mind.

Meanwhile, unfinished symphony number 49 has had a bit of an upgrade since it was first unveiled last week.

Sensor is now integrated into a separate unit that sends the measured distance wirelessly over BLE to the main focus controller which then processes it and sends it on to the camera.

And also has a measurement display which will come in useful at a later date........

Great work! How much lag is there in transmitting like that? I suspect just a few MS, but just wondering.

Ive just finished up shooting on a Netflix Doc. Main cameras were C300MkII's and I was on the Pocket4K (on a Ronin S) with Viltrox EF-MFT adaptor, Sigma18-35 1.8 and Tilta Nucleus. Shot ProRes and sharpness is not an issue. Images look fantastic with this combo IMO. Maybe I just got a very good copy of the Viltrox adaptor.

Just in time, but doesn't sound like an incredible upgrade. No IR, no ND, no anything really, just some different thicknesses that noone knew or talked about.

This is another issue that BM has to address. They knew about it and never said anything? Supposedly, people were buying the wrong adapters for a year? Does this sensor need any other special treatment?

That means that every image we have seen so far from any adapter is inferior of what is supposed to be.

The worst part of than equation is that we need different Metabones for different m43 cameras?! That sucks big time and is a significant cost that almost negates P4K price advantage (if you add everything the FS5ii has and does) and doesn't help with other m43 cameras either.

We definitely have to see some proper independent tests. 2 X Metabones for P4K and 2 X Metabones for other m43 camera is an approximate cost of 3100-3300€ here.

BM has handled poorly every P4K issue so far. There is always the price excuse and the "small market" manufacturer, but there are almost a different question mark every week, or two.
