Remember guys and girls! The more zeros the more profit for Canon

Ultra ultra low-end camera that only exists as a cost cutting missive, Canon churning out yet another 18MP Rebel. People buy these things! Yes really!

Leaked photos looks like a Manila market store pirate version of a real Canon.

Is that a plastic mount?! On the body!?

They couldn't even be bothered to paint the buttons.

EOSHD Pro Color 5 for Sony cameras EOSHD Z LOG for Nikon CamerasEOSHD C-LOG and Film Profiles for All Canon DSLRs

Considering it's a new-camera internet tradition and no-one else has said it, I'll go first...

I wouldn't buy this camera unless it has:
- 4k 60p from the whole sensor with no pixel binning
- IBIS
- C-Log
- 422 400Mbit/s intraframe codec

...nope, I just can't keep typing! :confounded:

- RAW!!

..ok, I'll stop now! :glasses:

At least you can 3D print the front part and screw it directly on the camera ;)

Seriously, It will depend of the price. If the camera is super cheap, why not. But I would not be surprised if the thing is overpriced and sell like hot cakes to soccer moms at Best Buy. Good for Canon.

what tha...what is going on here? what's this?! What does all that mean?! I am going to watch Trollhunters..

edit: what rich people? I bought a NX3000 body, which has a better 20mgpxl sensor, in mint condition for 130euros a couple of years ago, and that paired with the small 16-50PZ or tiny 30mm, is my compact. I doubt "poor" people would buy into a ILC though, except if they are poor for bodies, and rich for lenses!

Personal opinion about a dead system. Just because your budget is low doesn't mean you don't want a system thats still alive.
Im not going to debate this. Canon wants to make a low end camera, why in gods name is this something to be upset about...

Low prices are good, but not with tech of previous generations. You were telling us about a Panasonic that you bought for 200euros and some other incredible prices, so I would guess anyone can buy a cheap camera these days. a6000 can be had for a few hundred of euros also. We are not upset, we are making fun of the entry of the entry of the entry level of this camera. There are toy cameras probably worth more than this!

Panasonc doesn't make DSLRs. And the a6000 isn't a DSLR either. And none of them takes EF lenses natively.

(also, specs does not mean jack. You can't take pictures with specs. If megapixels and generations is all that mater, why don't you just buy a smartphone... )

I agree with you, megapixels and generations are nothing at all.

I recently bought a smartphone. I do use smartphones.

We still can have some camera fun though. No?!

How dare they make stuff for people with less money. Only rich people should be allowed to take pictures.

Of course there should be pricing for all people, everywhere. And I suspect the 40000000000D is aimed at China. Big, growing market there.

However, you shouldn't defend the bastards :) They are not providing value for money. They are providing plastic mounts and keeping prices the same.

The FIRST thing a budget user should do is check out your YouTube channel and watch some of the videos.

Then they would get value for money.

The LAST thing they should do is walk into a big box retailer who doesn't give a shit about their needs, and have this shit from Canon pushed on them for $300.

$300 would get you far more on eBay, or indeed new from other manufacturers.

I see your point, but that just isn't how most people buy cameras (ebay, shopping around etc). Exactly what they want to do is to walk into a big name store and take whatever the assistant tells them is best for them. It's not (at this level) that much of a considered purchase. In fact, I'll bet the majority of cameras at this level are bought within a week of someone's holiday when they suddenly decide they ought to get a 'proper' camera. There's nothing wrong with that and it shouldn't really even be worthy of a thread on what is, in fact, a highly specialised forum.

Edit: Forgot to add - it may well be that they had to switch to a plastic mount in order to keep the price the same.

You know Im the first one in line at the flee markets hunting for old pro gear. But you wouldn't believe how many email me so I can sugest "something as affordable but new at Best Buy" because they "don't trust ebay", "live in the dessert", "are scared to get something broken", etc, etc.

I kid you not. At least 100 people have asked me what adapter I have used and not been satisfied with the answer "cheapest one on ebay" or even "a K&C from ebay". They want the exact link to the exact same seller otherwise they are to scared and literally walks away from ever trying to adapt an old lens.
Minimum 100 people have done that. And Im just one guy.

So not defending Canon here. But surely I see the potential buyer for a camera like this.
