I bought the Minolta Close-UP lens for 100-500mm... $120 incl. shipping.

Might sound cheap for an achromatic 72mm 0.43 diopter (that's what it is, right? I hope that really is the truth :P) but I feel dumb because the same seller put exactly this diopter up a week ago, bidding from 0.99 and there were no bids.. I followed it, but forgot it in the end and it went unsold.. damn, that would have been a steal!

Anyway, if this really is the 72mm 0.43 achromat, then it's probably the cheapest one to get anyway.. I'm not paying $300 for a filter...

How'd you end up liking this achromat? What anamorphic were you putting it on? I'm considering one off ebay or just going with the tokina .4

I've actually never used it. Collecting dust in my closet with my collection of anamorphots. Shame on me... I know :expressionless:

It's mounted onto my Kowa B&H though. Perfect fit with the 72mm size.

What I've seen/heard it's really good, like the Tokina. The Tokina is expensive because most people who have it know what it is. With the Minolta that's not the case so you can get it cheaper if you're lucky. But actually it kind of is the same product, both diopters were originally design to use with big telezooms.

Would you be interested in selling the diopter?

I'm holding on to it for now... I should start using my gear again sometime :)

I do have some diopters I'm willing to part with. Like the Tamron +0.5 diopter (72mm close up adapter lens for 28-200mm) It's not an achromat, but it's cheap and works quite ok. You can find plenty of info on the anamorphic forum here.

I do have some smaller achromats. Not sure if useful but if anyone is interested, send me a message:

Minolta Close-Up Lens No. 0. 55mm - diopter +1
Leitz Elpro VIIb 54mm (weird size) - diopter +0.75 (?)
Minolta Close-Up Lens for Autopak-8 67mm - diopter +2.5, or +3 according to http://www.ki.tng.de/~sgude/achromats.html?

Nah I need a 72mm or larger and only iso achromats +1 or lower.

Thanks though.

Does it matter on what lens you place a diopter? For example, would a 52mm diopter placed on the end of the taking lens give the same results as an equivalent 72mm diopter placed on the end of the anamorphic?

Thanks for any info!

Looking for a fractional close up diopter solution for the Rectilux CoreDNA.  It has an 86mm front filter thread.  Having a hard time finding something that will work, any ideas?

86mm is hard, but I bet you don't need 86mm since the anamorphic front is smaller. Keep an eye on my youtube channel ( www.youtube.com/tferradans ) as I'll teach cheap diopter tricks over the next two weeks! :)

      eBay Listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/112426475899?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
Superb close focus lens filter / diopter. Size 72mm filter thread. Increases minimum focus distance in front of lens. Same result as a macro lens or macro extension tube. Purchased 2, selling 2. Both in excellent condition. No scratches or dings. Threads perfectly in tact.
These are the non-bayonet A9FB version, that come in 72mm filter size.
I sought this filter out specifically for shooting video on modified anamorphic lens adapters. Vintage anamorphic lenses typically are handicapped by close focus distances of over 1 meter or more. Stacking 1 or more close-up diopters on the end of your anamorphic can decrease this minimum focus distance. Stacking multiple diopters on top of one another will minimize this close-up focus distance even further, without noticeable distortion.
+1 lens filter equals roughly .8 meter minimum focus distance.
+2 lens filter equals roughly .5 meter minimum focus distance.
These are also wide & slim enough o they don't produce a dark vignette in the edge of the frame. I used step-up/step-down rings to mount to my lens.
*Be aware you won't be able to rack focus very far, or focus to infinity with this on. It is not a one size fits all solution.
I'm told these adapters replicate what a Tokina +.4 achromat diopter can do at much less the price.
Payment via PayPal only. Questions welcome.

      Hi Guys,
I'm looking to purchase a set of Voigtlander 95mm Focar A or B diopters to use with an Iscorama 54. Hoping someone has a set for sale as Ebay hasn't listed any lately. I just joined the forum after reading the posts for quite some time. Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone, I'm looking to buy a Helios 44m-7 lens.  I don't trust ebay with this lens as it looks like most are switched plate fakes, unless you know of a reputable seller with one.  Also looking to pick up a Tokina +0.4 Diopter, if anyone would like to part with theirs.  Thanks!

Can some explain to me why +0.4 and +0.5 diopters are more desirable than +1 diopters? Are +1 diopters terrible? I would assume using +1 would grant the user the the option of being able to shoot at the distance a +0.5 allows and closer since its +1. Maybe someone can enlighten me on the pros and cons of each diopter strength.
