"If you're after close up filters add '95mm Focar A' & '95mm Focar B' to your list of Ebay saved searches - these are vintage Voigtlander +1 & +2 diopters. I believe they were made to suit an early Voigt zoom lens and are quality plus.

I say this because I just picked up a mint 95mm Focar B for $50!"

What do you guys think of this close up lens? The leica Elpro VIIA

This site have only listed up to Elpro4. I was if any one has used one of these before and know how good they are?

Aparently, Leica isn't very organized with its closeups. I found this:

http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/ELPRO

and this:

http://photo.net/leica-rangefinders-forum/002myZ

In the first links, there are two different results for the VII A (with the 90mm and with the 135mm), both pretty close to +1. No information on the threads, though.

Googling about them, I found out that both have 55mm threads, so, I believe there's only one kind of VII A, and its result differs between lenses (not sure why that happens, but the variation is very slight).

According to this - http://***URL removed***/forums/post/50777111 - the VI, are achromatics, so I believe the VIIs are too. (all other ELPROs are)

In just one line, it looks like a 55mm thread, +1, leica achromatic close up.

Thanks for the info. I think the VIIb version is the one to go for, its unfortunate about the size of it though. Do you think it will be good on a Proskar or Kowa 35mm (the big silver one)?

I bought the Minolta Close-UP lens for 100-500mm... $120 incl. shipping.

Might sound cheap for an achromatic 72mm 0.43 diopter (that's what it is, right? I hope that really is the truth :P) but I feel dumb because the same seller put exactly this diopter up a week ago, bidding from 0.99 and there were no bids.. I followed it, but forgot it in the end and it went unsold.. damn, that would have been a steal!

Anyway, if this really is the 72mm 0.43 achromat, then it's probably the cheapest one to get anyway.. I'm not paying $300 for a filter...

Hahahaha! Great shot! It's +0.4, to be precise. Exactly like the Tokina.

Yep, would be great. That would settle about all my diopter needs :) Thanks a lot for the tip, it was you who brought it up after all!

I just put the 100-500mm Minolta search into my eBay and I've seen a lot of those lenses passing by since. Sometimes they come with the filter included, so if you are looking for a Tokina 72mm 0.4, I think it's a good idea to keep watching the Minolta lenses.

I think recently there was one for like 560 euro's including the filter. That would be an expensive price to pay for the filter, but you could take the risk and buy the whole thing and try to sell on the lens. I messaged the sellers quite a few times if they were willing to sell the filter separately, no one wanted to do that though...

I have a Canon 500D, it's a +2 achromatic, but I got the 72mm version, that fits all my lenses. The 77mm would need step ups.

Also, don't buy it new, as you can get it for about half the price when used. It just takes a while to show up. :)

Not exactly macro, but something in the 0.5m focal range. Extreme close ups and such. hahahah
