That certainly looks nice and sharp to me in 1080p. Better than my D5300 I would say. Can you tell us what the focal point in the lake shot was, what lens you used and what aperture please?

I can't see any point in 720p though. Soft as hell and loads of pretty nasty moire.

PS: Not sure if it was my download or your upload, but the file stopped playing halfway through ...

Kitt lense 18-55mm @ 18mm aperature f3.5  wide open so not sharpest f-stop ;)  The back trees in the lake was fucus point with auto focus and locked, if that u ment.

720p is ofc soft as hell but close to Canon 650D 1080p ;) hehe.

And MEGA seems to be down at moment.. Cant check my upload.....

Edit. When i DL it , it works ok.. so i think your dl is corrupted..

Hard to say on youtube but I'm not seeing a massive leap in resolution over my D5300. Hopefully Nikon will release a firmware update so it can be hacked too. The better processor may allow a higher bitrate ...

Resolution is the D52/53/7100's weakest point in image terms, so the hack is very good news if it really makes an appreciable difference.

@mojo43: Sorry I'm not sure what your point is?  It's a very nicely shot video but technically the image isn't too impressive. Even considering the poor compression of the vimeo upload it looks pretty soft to me.

The last video that I posted as an example

Oh was that Mayanmar video 720p? How do you know - I can't see any spec's? It sure looks soft and moire-ish enough to be 720.

Just because it's 720p

Do you mean because it's 60p?

It isn't tagged as 720p on Vimeo.

Anyway, we should probably return this topic back to the D5200 ...  ;)

"energy efficiency improvements in the D5200 extended the battery life from 400 shots to 500." this is what i read. But that 74min is awesom step up from about 20-25min.... Although camera was stationary on tripod shooting lanscape, but still impresive battery life now
