Life vs Film

A really good movie to me is something that doesn't dumb down reality to randomness... unless it is some summer tent pole popcorn movie that is there just for fun.  Of course a good movie can't be simplistic either.  It has to be complex but not random.

These kinds of films don't get greenlit in the US anymore. Once in a while you get an exception. It used to be that you could expect a Miramax decent production once a year, but those days are gone. Now the Europeans are leading the way in good cinema, but they cannot get global exposure. For every good european movie on the international radar or that gets remade (Levitian, Blue is the Warmest Colour, Let the right one in etc) - there are many that pass under the radar that everyone here watches. But they have stricter piracy laws and more affluent citizens, so I think Hollywood will be looking to them/ us for box office revenue more and more in the future.

Hence the demise of simplistic formulaic films.

I watch nonAmerican movies.  I also watch great American ones.  Like Elephant by Gus Van Sant or Erasehead by David Lynch or Cassevetes or Orson Welles.  Don't hate on US cinema.  We gave the world Citizen Kane.

And movies do end and the have structure - beginning, middle, and end.  I don't need a happy ending.  I just wish life had some more structure.  It's so open ended.  There is no end.  Death is just random.  It just happ

It's random - from our perspective - since you don't know when it happens, but the same would apply to a movie, before you watch it, if you don't read about it in advance.

...With the scam chapter on this camera nerd site not closed - it will never be closed.

It will continue forever.  There will never be a resolution.  The scam artist will not learn his lesson and become a good human being.

Life is strangly unwritten and messy and frustrating and we're all just floating around in it.  Never to know what we should have done better.

Stalking me all over with a topic thread in your hand from an online forum trying to make anyone around seem like I am a scammer, is absolutely stupid. Nobody cares. Not a single one of my fb or twitter or instagram friends who got cares, zero. No body also cares about an internet trial. Rather than have some laughs. So save (wow seems a lot if work) your time for something else. Or keep posting behind me, I don't mind either.

ES is right, again.

As long as it does not hit his real world, the internet world is just fantasy.  His name also isn't really ES.

That's disappointing. I actually thought he had attempted to make the bad situation right. Looks like he's still taunting.

He cares a lot about the attention he gets posting stuff about cameras. The avenues he has to do that are about to be shut down. ;) If he tries to create a new identity it's not going to be very hard to spot.

the least we can do is stop him from posting on these camera sites -  Squig can you let them know about him?

I told him he has 7 days to repay James before I have him exiled from the forums. I know it's highly unlikely, but he's got until the weekend to contemplate life without his precious soap box. No forum will want to have him once they hear what's transpired here. Cutting himself off from communities that are obviously important to him is really fucking dumb. I guess he thinks it's not going to happen. Yeah well, he didn't think he was going to get caught either.

This guy is a piece of shit. He needs a good lesson. Go, open an account everywhere he posts. Everyone of you. The least we can do. It's a shame to read he got scammed to claim for Justice alone.

I don't know.

The Master was a masterpiece.

Synecdoche, New York was a masterpiece.

Elephant is a masterpiece.

Last Days is a new era in filmmaking, continuing Bela Tar's experimental and beautiful style - pushing the boundaries of motion pictures, as is Elephant both in structure and shooting style.

Both films are disturbing and controversial.

There are a lot of risky US films being made.

A lot of great American directors.

The biggest issue is there is no national endowment for the arts in America.  Its a grant system, and it doesn't give as much money overall.

Great films almost never even break even, so it's really a passion project for the investors.

Of course, great films are incredibly important pieces of art for culture.  But, hey, America's government system is a little screwed up right now.  They can't even get money to feed our poorest population.  5 million Americans I just saw in the Intercept make less than $2 a day.  Thank you Welfare Reform law of 94.

@Ebrahim Saadawi, somebody might inform dean and stuff at Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine of Delta University http://deltauniv.edu.eg/new/dentistry/?page_id=1593 and Hospital Manager http://deltauniv.edu.eg/new/dentistry/?page_id=1163

Be rational. I'm sure you don't want to get kicked out of school.

Making money. If you think about it, it really is all we're living to do. Dedicating our entire lives to obtaining these paper products. Doesn't it make you think or feel odd? That humanity is all about paper now? Doesn't that upset you even slightly? It does, to me.

Oh FFS, he recently got a PS4:

Yet cries he is too broke and poor to repay those who he robbed???
