There's a thread on RedUser about the Terra - bloody hell some of those guys probably wear pyjamas with the Red logo on them. Lots of negativity towards Kinefinity. Insane.

For the curious, here is the thread (I've commented a few times in that thread already, I'm "David Peterson"):

My view on the top three low budget cameras with higher than 4K raw options (RED Raven vs URSA Mini 4.6K vs Kinefinity Terra 6K):

If you don’t factor in the price / support / brand name cred, then I’d go for a Kinefinity Terra 6K over URSA Mini 4.6K or RED Raven any day of the week.

(.....and then I go into much more detail.... read the article!)

As of now, Apple has not listed any Kinefinity cameras as authorised ProRes products.

Yes, and on a similar note, as of yet Jaguar Land Rover Ltd has yet to list the Landwing X7 as an official model of theirs:

Take a trip down to your local shops, you'll find ripoffs from every country in the world. Including yours. Lego ripped off Kiddicraft, Oreos ripped off Hydrox (and then launched an ad campaign claiming they were the ripoffs), Sketchers ripped off Toms, Disney Pixar ripped off Pierrot Le Poisson Clown, Angry Birds ripped off Crush the Castle, Farmville ripped off Farm Town, Pong Ripped off Table Tennis (the 1972 computer game), Guitar Hero ripped off Guitar Freaks, A fist full of Dollars - Yojimbo, Lincoln Continental - Bently Continental, Chrysler 300 - Bently Continental, Focus/Mondeo - Astin Martin, Astin Martin - Everything Fisker does, Marvel Wasp - DC Bumblebee, Psych - The Mentalist, Benson - Squidward, Secret of the Incas - Raiders of the Lost Ark, Monsters Inc - Little Monsters, Facebook - Friendster, Twitter - TechRadium, Paypal - Billpoint, Burberry - Vivienne Westwood.

Need I go on, or shall we keep nationality out of it?

Well yes, you seem to be making the extraordinary claim that Kinefinity are trying to pass their products off as Reds with that link there, so do eloborate to your hearts content.

Reds? No, no, no... you clearly misunderstand, this is about them using ProRes without authorization from Apple Computers. It's Ok, Apple never sues anyone :-)

You do need permission to use Apple ProRes in the products, and it's incredibly hard to obtain. JVC killed one of their camera products due to Apple rejecting the ProRes certification request.

"The big news today is that their European dealer HD Videoshop has told us that Kinefinity have officially been given permission by Apple to add ProRes to their camera"

Well apparently Apple knows nothing of this. So perhaps we should just take HD Videoshop's word for it? Good luck with that buddy. But it's your money.
