It's a whole different camera type and league vs the Sony a6000. For video only, unless you need the D7100 tank-ish quality, is a better option. They give pretty comparable images from the same sensor but for video you get the viewfinder and peaking.

D7100 for video? you're paying and carrying a lot of stills-camera-mass left unused. For example a D5300 is the same for video and even adds an articulating LCD.

The 7100 is a really, really great stills camera though, if you need both in one package.

1080 maxes out at 30p though, and many uses have had bad shadow noise. Mine was clean for a couple years of commercial shoots, suddenly has amazing, busy, horizontal noise in the shadows… some of the time...
