The new Panasonic SuperZoom, the FZ 200, shares the new Venus Engine 7 FHD processor (with the expected GH3). Its autofocus is insanely fast, and the colour in video, is pretty interesting, as well. The zoom is an engineering masterpiece. Check this video:

There is another interesting video.Pls watch this one atleast, at 720p. It's pretty good:

I think, the GH3, will be Good in Low Light (though, maybe, not as good as the Mark III), and extremely fast autofocus (maybe, they'll make the post of the Focus Puller, redundant, soon ... :P). Also, picture profile will be Much Flatter. I wish they had a good backlit sensor. It would have been great for low light (maybe even dynamic range) Its too late, though, to think of all that ...

Though, I expect Still Picture Quality, to still, be pretty lousy.

I don't think still quality will be lousy. It wasn't that bad on the GH2 just not quite up there with the APS-C competition (7D, NEX 5N, etc.). The E-M5 proves you can have good stills quality on a Micro Four Thirds camera. Panasonic just need to sort the sensor and if what I hear is correct they have most certainly done that ;)

I hope the GH3 gives users the features, the Sony A99 has, for sound. I got his from Imagine Resource:

"And then there's the A99's audio feature set. As well as a built-in stereo mic, there's a 3.5mm stereo mic jack. You can also adjust the audio record level, and to assist you in doing so, you can connect headphones via a 3.5mm stereo output jack for levels monitoring. There's also an audio levels display function.
An optional XLR-K1M kit mounts on the Multi Interface Shoe, and adds two balanced XLR connections with mic / line input selection and separate level adjustments, a unique capability in the SLR world. (A Sony ECM-XM1 mono shotgun mic is included in the kit.)".

There is also a multi-control dial, in the front, for silent handling, and changing settings while shooting. I don't think its of any gr8 consequence, so it can be passed ... ;-)

That's funny, you wish you had all these professional audio connections but then you'd pass on the ability to actually adjust audio levels while shooting?

Hope you were being ironic...

I would blast anyone, who fidgets with the camera, WHILE shooting. On second thoughts, the button is gr8, cause it has dedicated controls, for video, and hence faster, n less cumbersome. But, Audio, like everything else, should ONLY be fidgeted with, after a shot. Not during.

The desire for this by video people amuses me. I can't imagine why you would ever need to adjust audio while recording. They don't do that in the audio world! You check your levels and leave them be.

On documentary shoots you often adjust levels while recording. These tunnelvision comments are ridiculous. People shoot differently and want features that support their style of shooting.

I never have, though I suppose your last statement is correct. I'm not sure why one would need to, especially in camera.

No adjusting of audio levels while shooting? What planet are you guys from? I guess you would just glue the knobs of a Sound Devises mixer after a first initial check-check?
[/quote]

I suppose it depends on your line of work? But thats a pretty silly assertion! You obviously need to change levels from shot to shot, though I don't see why you need to DURING a shot. I film a lot of musical performances where its figure out the levels and leave them.

Are you serious? So you ask everyone in front (or behind the camera) to maintain the exact same level of sound of whatever they're saying or doing throughout the entire shot... man you really have an amazing control over your cast/crew/surrounds!

So you think cameras and audio recorders come with audio level displays just so you can sit there watching your audio clip and not do anything about it? Have you ever even seen anyone (properly) recording audio?

My what a difference in philosophy we have. Have you ever heard someone speak at the exact same volume ever? When you listen to music, does it stay the exact some volume 100% of the time? Dynamic range is not just a term used in the video world. Dynamics are what make music and sound sound natural! Audio meters are there so that you can check and set your levels properly for the event or scene that is going to take place! Sure if they are clipping like heck you will want to turn them down, but why let them get there in the first place, just set them correctly to begin with! If the audio needs a little leveling out in post, thats what automation and compressors are for!
