Hi,

I have made a handle for the GH2 which I would like to make available to other people.

Please take a look at my website www.lowkeyhandles.com if you are interested in more info.

Thanks

I kinda like this, but I think it would be much better if somebody made this type of handle but in a horizontal placement, so the camera could be operated like a camcorder. I miss the stability I had with my HV40 (and I have to say it was comfortable too), with my forearm supporting the weight rather than my wrist.

I think the GH2 is too high for that. If you support the weight with your wrist, you can't reach the buttons on the top anymore.

The first 10 I'm selling for £99 or $149.99 including free shipping.
The cost is to recoup some of the outlay and to be able to develop the handle further.

If the handle is not right for you I will give a refund. I will use PayPal to request and to return money if needed. So all very simple.
All you have to pay for is the return shipping cost. About $33 for the States.

Plus for being involved from the start if and as the handle evolves I will supply the first 10 people with 2 more versions at just above cost as a thank you.

There's plenty more info on the little website I made www.lowkeyhandles.com Please take a look.
You can see the handle, baseplate etc. in more detail.

And yes I am looking at doing wood and yes I'm looking at doing a handle with a rubberised finish but it all takes time.

You can use the handle with or without the strap. Depends on how secure you want to feel.

Regards,

Matt

Hmmm not as much interest as I would like.

Not sure why, maybe people could enlighten me?
Is it due to cost, the imminent arrival of the GH3 or something else?

I'm going to drop the cost to £69.99 or $99.99 (if you are in the States).

Matt

I applaud your innovation. This is a problem with this camera for many users but it's a bit late in the game in the lifecycle of this camera (since the GH3 is supposedly right around the corner).

I have been using one of these: http://www.bhphotovi...sh_Bracket.html

Though I cannot hit the record button easily, I can wrap by hand all the way around it and I like it.

Hello,

nice idea! Is it correct that the handle is only fixed by one tripod screw? Isn't there a stability problem (no need to be fixed at a second point?)
If the handle is mounted, where can I mount a tripod plate?
And, what's the price for delivering to germany?
Thank you

Frank

Matt,

Just like QuickHitRecord stated, this is late in the game. And besides I got the Japanese pistol grip that Andrew reviewed way back last year. That plus a nice monopod brace arm and I have a very good stabilized mini-run-n-gun setup. I never use the camera like how you position the grip. I think if I was taking photos, this would be amazing. But I shoot mostly video, so I need something more. And unfortunately, the GH3 is around the corner and it will have a battery grip as an accessory. That might be more than enough for some people. Don't get me wrong, I like your product. I do wish you well and I hope other people see the need for it.

Hi Frank,

I find no stability problems. The handle touches the GH2 so helps restrict movement. I enclose two types of mounting screws. One is for use with a tripod. I'll send you a photo. Send me your address via a message on the forum and we will work out the exact delivery cost. As I say on my website any problems just return the handle.

Regards,

Matt

Hello Matt,

thanks for your reply. Unfortunately my plans of buying a GH2 seems to be cancelled because the GH2 model isn't available at any dealer or even at Panasonic-Europe anymore. I think I have to wait for GH3. I really see no reason why they stop the production of a well demanded model weeks before the new one is available. What kind of marketing is that?
