1. I've been looking everywhere, but I can seem to find anything solid on squeezing anamorphic footage on Premiere Pro, only found methods for FCP. If anyone knows the best method of squeezing 1.5x and 2x anamorphic footage on Premiere Pro, that would be greatly appreciated.
2. I want to get everyone's opinion on this. Should I buy anamorphic lens or a dog schidt lens w/ the oval aperture? I'm wondering why people still go crazy on ebay for anamorphic lens when you can get the dog schidt lens with the option of a 1.5x or 2x oval apeture and is single focus. Essentially, both the anamorphic and DSO lens produce the same results as far as oval bokeh and flares, I would think. Is there something I'm missing? You would think that people would go with the DSO lens option as opposed to anamorphic lens seeing as how anamorphic lens require more such as double focus, clamps and other addition things to make them work properly. So, do anamorphic lens have more desirable characteristics (other then the whole crop/squeeze factor) then the DSO lens that I don't know about?
3. i have a kowa for bell&howell anamorphic lens for sale, which is great for full-frame dslr's due to it larger rear element width, for more technical details see: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0BzVcUB-5ReiZajVncE9rYU9heDQ&usp=sharing i am selling on ebay, and my price is reasonable compared to other listings of the same lens, and it is the only one available in the uk a the moment, so you may save on international customs. it is a fixed price, but i am open to offers. listing as follows: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/kowa-bell-howell-anamorphic-lens-/161367776013?pt=UK_Lenses_Filters_Lenses&hash=item259244db0d
4. Having it sitting for a long time, I said to finally give it a try, as until now it was impossible to get any info about it, or even so to find a video made with this rare beast. Quick test of the Moller Anamorphot 30/2x, on an Oly E-M1. I have to admit that wasn't that easy to work with it, it's big like an Iscorama, not easy to use just an anamorphic clamp and I always prefer smaller anamorphics to play with, so I don't have the proper rig solution for this Moller. But the image quality that comes out of it, puts it (at least) beside Iscorama. Any comment is welcome, this lens is a miracle:
5. Hello everyone I'm wanting to film a short Sci-Fi film for one of my Uni projects and I'm wanting to use an Anamorphic lens to get a more cinematic feel. I'll be using Canon DSLR's, in particular, the 60D, 7D and maybe a 5D if I can get my hands on one. But until now, I've had no experience whatsoever with using, buying etc. an Anamorphic DSLR lens. I've been looking at what Vid-Atlantic with their Anamorph Filters, but from what I can gather, that doesn't give a true Anamorphic look to the film. Another issue I'm worried about is learning how to properly use an anamorphic lens as when I've watched various videos of people using them, there's vignetting and focussing issues. Can anyone steer me in the right direction on what I should do/buy? Thanks for all your help
6. Hello to everyone, My name is Mario Gorlas, i was born in hungary 1978 and live and work now for 20 years in germany. This is my first post at eoshd (i love this portal, thanks and my honor to Andrew Reid) and direct a "for sale" post. I know it's not the best idea, don't beat me, please and let me explain. I'm a guest in this forum for a long time and reading topics here a several times per week and especially i follow the works of Andrew Reid and Seb Farges. The problem was/is i never learnd english in school, since the last two years i'm teaching myself, but i'm ashamed for my bad english grammar and had big fear for bad critics, excuse me, please! We are a little filmteam of one woman and three guys. We're filming first of all weddings and also music clips and commercials. Our equipment was three Panasonic GH2, two Canon 5d MK2 and one Black Magic camera with several taking lenses, for example Voigtlander, Canon FD 50 and 85mm and this amazing anamorphic lenses. We starting to work with this anamorphic lenses in 2012, first a lttle scene here, a little scene there. Then more and more clients see our samples and want this look for there own film/clip, this 70's 80's look, they grown up with. We've produced amazing, wonderful looking videos, looking like big 70's and 80's cinematic movies, i love this optic. We've worked in november 2013 for german television on a documentary and we have now the opportunity to go on work with this television channel!! Buuut, there is a requirement, we must invest in Arri systems....ouch! You all know that this cameras are very expensive, and so must sell my anamorphic set with big big bigger tears in my eyes!!! Our cameras are all sold for fair prices except the ana's, it is no market here in germany, it seems like here is only a handfull people who worked with. For examples click the dropbox links below the pictures, there are screenshots out of quick test videos. This videos are realy quick tests, hold the ana with my hand in front of the taking lens. The camera was the badest thing i have for videos, a canon t3i 600d with kit lens 18-55mm (only for ebay photos), cause all other cameras are sold, all other equipment for these cameras are sold, all clamps for the anas are sold with the cams. With the right cam and taking lens you can get amazing qualitiy. I can't show any video cause there are copyright problems with the clients, the videos are not my own, please bear with me, you can find a lot of videos at vimeo and other video portals. The pictures are straight out of the cam, don't wondering about some pictures/scene/focus adjustment, i try to show you with some pictures how this ana look feels, how sharp is it in the edges, dof, light etc. Some of the Isco 1.5 screenshots are not correct de-squeeze. You can pay on my paypal account, this is a private sale, no sending back and get money back oportunity. Thanks for reading so much terrible english text ;o) For sale: Iscomorphot 8/1.5x for 790 $ also known as "Baby Iscorama" http:// Click the dropbox link for picture gallery https://www.dropbox.com/sh/b6rhdagkn8bii6s/BI6T9dEuN0 We used it for closeups, especially together with the Möller for dialog scenes. We used it when the focused object is moving in deepths or when the camera is moving (for example steadycam shots), zoom shots. Never in long shots/wide shots cause it's not the sharpest for this shots. It's the perfect allround ana for closeups and migrange shots. I payed over 1000$ in a time you can't get one, that is to much. - in very very good condition, the rear glass look like it's never be touched - smooth focus, one focus system (Isco patent) - front glass has little mini ?scratches/cleaning traces? i never try to polish away cause you don't see it on video and it has an effect on lightspots at night scenes and let it looked like a dreamy scene, i often use this effect in my products - no fungus, no dust - focus without diopter min 0,5 meter - with all equipment you see on the photos - very light - complete solid metal Iscomorphot 16/2x for 1190 $ http:// Click the dropbox link for picture gallery https://www.dropbox.com/sh/dp51e6yohacl1nx/LK6_XPs4ye We used this lens for midrange, long/wide and steadycam shots, very very sharp, wonderful amazing look!! 7. Selling my Bolex anamorphot 8/19/1.5x. Bought it on ebay Christmas 2013 after looking everywhere for this particular lens. As you already know, it is extremely rare to find one. Optics are good, no haze, fungus, scratches, dents. Minor dust particles that don't affect quality at all. I took great care of this little lens. I'm taking for granted that members of this forum know the fine details and value of this particular lens already but feel free to ask me anything about it. Included with lens are the original case (2X), with tools, soft pouch I purchased to keep lens in, and clamp to mount onto your taking lens. Rear thread is 24mm. Lens is quite small. Minimum focusing distance of 2.5 feet. Maximum focusing to infinity. Sharp through all apertures. Requires focusing on both this lens and taking lens. Comes with lens hood, and original miscellaneous equipment. I'm including a Vid Atlantic anamorphic clamp. It has a rear thread of 60mm. Comes with 2 step up rings. 52-60mm and 58-60mm. You can, of course attach more to make your taking lens fit. On crop sensor cameras (7D, T2i, GH2, etc.) widest lens you can use is 40 - 50mm. Any wider and you get vignetting. On full frame sensors I think you have to use 85 or longer to avoid vignetting. Used mainly on a Lumix GH2 micro 4/3 sensor with different Nikkor 35, 50, 85mm primes. If you love the look of authentic widescreen ratio this is one of the best tools to give you that. Search Vimeo for "bolex moller anamorphic" and for some amazing results this lens can do. Here are some 2013 posts from my instagram account as proof I actually own the lens:
8. Hey Guys. I'm absolutely new in anamorphic shooting and I'm just getting a BMPCC (Which means it will be present in about 5 months or so :D) I'm thinking about getting a bit into anamorphic shooting. I like the "look" of it very much, because it simply creates a whole different feeling than a "normal" 16*9 image. So I have a few questions: How should/can I start shooting anamorphic with the BMPCC? What lens / adapter+lens can be used with the Pocket? It should not be too expensive as I'm just beginning and want to get a bit in touch with it. What do I have to think of in terms of workflow? -> During Production and of course especially in Postproduction? I hope these questions do not sound to stupid or naive :D Greetings from germany.
9. Hey guys, I found this new anamorphic lenses ... information here:   The Servicevision Booth was directly across from ours at NAB. Managing Director and Cinematographer Andres Valles surprised me on opening day with a preview of a set of 13 Scorpiolens anamorphic primes to be introduced at IBC in September. He also introduced me to the lens designer, physicist and optical engineer Cristina Alcaide. The Scorpiolens anamorphics are all 2x squeeze, and all have a slender front diameter of 95 mm. They are T2.0 from 24 through 100 mm. 130 to 260 mm are T2.8. The 300 mm is T3. Average length of the lenses is a mere 6.3 inches. The 24, 28, 150, and 200 mm are 7.5 inches long. The 260 mm is 8.3 inches, and 300 mm is 9.6 inches.     More info: :o   http://www.fdtimes.com/2012/04/29/scorpiolens-anamorphic-prime-lenses/       The Scorpiolens 2x anamorphic lenses are expected to exhibit practically no breathing and very little distortion, even at close focus. They will cover up to ANSI Super 35 Silent aperture (31.14 mm diameter). Feet and meter scales can be exchanged. Internal focus keeps the lens a constant length. Telecentric and multi-aspheric design, high resolution, and consistent optical performance are planned over the entire focus range. Servicevision is the largest motion picture rental house and manufacturing facility in Spain. Offices in the US are in North Hollywood. - See more at: http://www.fdtimes.com/2012/04/29/scorpiolens-anamorphic-prime-lenses/#sthash.jTi2HrSd.dpuf

11. http://vimeo.com/71062233   For this video, I shot with a faster CF Card (100 MBS) that gave me 1344 X 1008 resolution at 24 FPS in Magic Lantern hack 4:3 mode without skipping frames. I could shoot for at least 6 minutes (I didn't try shooting longer). I did my color correction with Adobe Photoshop and converted to 2688 X 1008 in Compressor for Vimeo.   Thoughts and comments welcome. Thank you.
12. http://vimeo.com/70606224   The Canyon - Shot during a two hour trip to the canyon For this video, I shot with a faster CF Card (100 MBS) that gave me 1344 X 1008 resolution at 24 FPS in 4:3 mode without skipping frames. I could shoot for at least 6 minutes (I didn't try shooting longer). I did my color correction with Adobe Photoshop and converted to 2688 X 1008 in Compressor. Anyone else shooting anamorphic on the 50D in 4:3? Can anyone shoot higher resolution than 1344 X 1008? Thank you.
13. "Picture A Girl With Red Hair" is a film I shot in 2012 that just completed post. It's starting its run on the festival circuit now. Here's a still:     I'll post more updates as it plays in festsivals. More info here:   jeremyosbern.com/blog/
14. Selling a used Century Optics 1.33x ratio anamorphic lens. Cosmetically it's in excellent condition. No scratches, or fungus or dings, besides where the screws are. Rear thread is 37mm. Comes with 37mm - 52mm rear adapter and front screw-on lens cap. No need for clamps.   Best used on a cropped sensor camera APS-C or micro 4/3 or miniDV. Full frame would work too but give you vignetting on wide angle lenses.   This adapter is similar to the Panasonic LA72000. No focusing is necessary.    I just bought this lens on ebay the beginning of December. I've barely owned it. In my opinion, with my lenses and my camera the image quality did not hold up enough to justify keeping it. Shows chromatic aberrations, not sharp at wide open apertures, but fits nicely.   http://www.ebay.com/itm/110993753985?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
15. Ok, I recently purchased a lens on ebay that says that its 1.3x, which means a 30 percent squeeze or 2.40??:1 / 1920x756 really not sure what aspect ratio it is. Which is on the Right of the image Im Sharing. On the left I only did a 25 percent squeeze or 2.35:1 / 1920x810 aspect ratio. Now the ebayer that sold me this lens told me it was 1.3x. But I'm really not sure. The lens looks like a Century Optics Lens. But its not as blurry some of the videos that I've seen on ebay. I'm using a T2i and Helios 44-2 lens with a 49mm to 52mm thread which FITS THE ANAMORPHIC LENS. The lens is beautiful- it's a little dusty- and it has an anamorphic rubber band around it. No brand is on the actual lens and underneith it it says Made In Japan. 2 Questions come to mind- What is what is the proper aspect resolution/squeeze based on the photo I've taken? What is the brand of this lens? Here is a photo of the actual lens.
