  1. Hey guys :-) as i love RAW and LOVE highspeed i thought perhaps its possible to build my own raw dng camera :-)  i foundthis thread over at bmcuser http://bmcuser.com/showthread.php?2043-Little-raw-cam-side-project and its roughly based on that idea :-)   but i went with an other camera from PointGrey its an USB 3 Flea 3 cam that can shoot up to 720p120fps. and build a mini itx board with an intel core i3 3225 :-)   still lots of work to be done but at the moment i can write on an ssd 720p120fps at 8bit and 720p96fps at 12 bit.   but i have a problem with my .raw to .dng conversion:   on the BMCC raw files there is a tag: DefaultCropSize and DefaultCropOrigin   and i cant get it to work properly with my DNG converter when i run dng_validate on an converted DNG i get always: *** Error: Invalid DefaultCropSize ***   does anybody has a sample code or another idea?   to the some picutres of the MiniRaw1 just serach on twitter and instagram for #MiniRAW1 :-) only pictures at the moment no footage yet :-) cheers and thx Janosch
  2. There were all the rumors about GH3 that gonna shoot 720p @ 120 fps like LX7 and FZ200 but unfortunately Panasonic decided to turn it down.   Ever since LX7 became the very first pocketable camera that shoot 720p @ 120fps, CES 2013 panasonic just announced 20x zoom ZS30 that can shoot 720 @ 120fps. YES! which means you can literally get similar high speed quality from FZ200 which can perfectly fit in your POCKET.   samples below to view the quality of FZ200 in high speed recording: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0tL-TC8FGQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8R1tcs-qF8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6V0LJTuhhY   I am quite certain that the camera industry is actually capable of making consumer cameras to film 1080p 120fps NOW but they decided to delay it for marketing purposes. I am so keen to see an incredible pocket camera like RX100 that can shoot at such level if http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/23/aptina-unveils-1-inch-sensor-with-120fps-1080p-video-likely-for-nikon/ is true.   All the cameras I mentioned above cost around $300-600.
  3. Hi everyone, The other day I finished editing some videos that I've been woking on. http://vimeo.com/50466184 This was an experiment in shooting Black and White at 720p 60 fps for slow motion. Other then some minor issues with compressing for Vimeo, I really like how this one turned out. It was shot on a GH1 with Pentax 50mm and 80 ~ 200mm lenses. It was shot on Mt. Tabor overlooking the Portland city skyline. It just so happend that it was the Fall equinox on that day hence the name. http://vimeo.com/50510429 recently I went to a local skatepark with my son and shot some video of him and his friends. I wanted to shoot a skate video that didn't look like the typical films of that genre. this was also to practice flow focus and shooting action which I never do normally. Agin, Shot on GH1, 1080p 24 fps with Pentax 50mm. Comments and critique welcome. Thanks for watching. :-)
