  1. Reading through the shoother guide book I notice Andrew refers to the ML 50D as a Super 35mm raw shooting cinema camera, and this confuse me a bit, I know that within the ML you can set the camera to do a 4:3 crop mimicking the crop of a 35mm film yeah but the relationship with the optics is still like a crop sensor camera right? I mean the sensor is not getting any bigger so you still suffer from not being able to use all the glass and so having to do the Focal Length multiplication. I also noticed Andrew recommends using 64gb cards but frankly I can't afford them right now so are 32gb cards still fine? I will be working with a PC close so I will be able to upload the data while working. Thanks in advance. PD: I decided to make a forum trend after mailing this to Andrew after noticing that he doesn't like to be asked this questions by mail so sorry for that!!
  2. Testing out my recently acquired lenses with my Canon 5DmkIII using RAW.  The ability to record 3:2 as 1920x1280 is really great, but there is still a very limited ability to shoot wide with 2x Anamorphic lenses, in this case my Sankor 16D.  I have a Panasonic LA7200, but it's only a 1.33x stretch and doesn't get me the nice oval bokehs and stretched OOF areas that I want.  I really wish there was some kind of wide option using a 2x Anamorphic lens.  I also tested 1920x1280 versus 1920x1080 to see the difference.   https://vimeo.com/72941440   https://vimeo.com/72941441
  3. We have changed the format of the show slightly - it's shorter!! - And more punchier etc so please let us know what you think. This week we look at the trailer for local South African film, "Jimmy in Pienk", we review an IOS app that will help you with Shot-Listing, and we have a look at the "JOBS" Trailer. So let us know what you think of the new format - and thank you for watching!!! 4. Hey everyone! After a year of insane work, I finally finished my 20 minute Action/Thriller short film PREY. I shot this on a Canon T2i with a 50mm prime lens and the kit lens. This is the biggest project I've done so far and it really means a lot to me. So please take some time to watch it and let me know your honest opinion. Every comment means the world to us. Thanks again FOR EVERYTHING!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8r8xDjqFeRQ
  5. Hi   I just have bought a Canon 5DMKIII and am experimenting with the RAW hack. As a Anamorphic lover i would like to pair my 1968 Iscorama x1.5 (m42 mount with the original 50mm f2.8) with the MKIII. Coming from a GH2 crop sensor world and new to the FF world i would like to ask for some advise. On the GH2 i used the Helios 44-2 and a old FD50mm as the taking lens. Not so keen on the Helios....   Which (old) manual lens would be a great combination on the MKIII? (As a taking lens) Love the flares of my Iscorama so i am looking for a non/single coated solution. Any experiences?   Never used the MKIII with the Magic Lantern anamorphic combi yet. Is the hack de-squizing live, even in the RAW mode?    Hope that you guys are willing to share some thoughts.   Thank you in advanced.
  6. While in Iceland this summer, I shot some RAW Footage on my 5DMK3 and edited it into this tribute to the beauty of Icleand and to the work of the ML Team.   Tech details Camera: 5D Mk3 Shot in 1080p @ 24fps on Lexar 32 GB 1000x Lenses: Zeiss Planar 50mm 1.4, Voigtlander Color Skopar 20mm 3.5, Canon 24-105 f4L, Canon 70-300 DO IS. Processed with ACR in PS, Edited in FCP, final touches in AE + Film Convert Pro.   Special Thanks to Magic Lantern.   Hope you enjoy it and let me know what you think, Andrei   https://vimeo.com/71698566
  7. http://vimeo.com/71482344 Leave A Trail - Canon 50D Raw Short Film, 1920 X 1080 Shooting raw on the Canon 50D. I shot with a faster CF Card (100 MBS) that gave me 1584 X 892 resolution at 24 FPS using the newest Magic Lantern Raw hack without skipping frames. I could shoot for at least 4 minutes (I didn't try shooting longer). I did my color correction with Adobe Photoshop and converted to 1920 X 1080 for Vimeo in Compressor. Comments welcome. Thank you.
  8. Hey guys! At the moment I shoot weddings with a 6D and 5D2. Both of these are manned cameras, and I usually leave the NEX5N on sticks as safe shot. However, given the 1080p50 mode that the Canons lack, I would like to start incorporating it more into my workflow, especially for steadicam shots.   Up till now, I've been shooting in Portrait (creative style) at -3,0,-3. I just wanted to check if anyone of you is using it with Canon DSLRs and what settings work best to get the look as close as possible? I'm shooting in Neutral Flat on the Canons.

  11. EMKE Hawaii recording new music in the studio!  I tagged along and tested shooting Anamorphic with my Canon 5DMKIII.  Using the different aspect ratios, I used 4:3 1600x1200.  This is perfect for my Sankor 2x Anamorphic Projection lens.  I then used After Effects to make the image fit 1080P.  Music is their original song "Open Eyes" acoustic version.   Canon 5DMKIII w Magic Lantern RAW June 3rd Build Lexar 64GB 1000x CF Card After Effects to Premiere Pro Canon 100mm Macro Sankor 2x Anamorphic Projection Lens   https://vimeo.com/68611134
  12. About 3 months ago, my grandmother told me some of the tactics being tossed at women by the democratic party to be used to deter an attacker... All of these of course, are to substitute a firearm. They are as follows: 1. Tell the attacker you have a venereal disease. 2. Blow your rape whistle. 3. Defecate on yourself.. (... this is legit.) and if all else fails: 4. Vomit on the attacker, and he will let you go. Since I know not one single woman on the face of the earth who can do 3 and 4 on command, I suspect this did not go over so well with the female response. However, I'd love to see this played out... so here it is:   https://vimeo.com/67751644
  13. Hi, I have kind of problem with my video, I think. It's hard to describe it, so watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhLb2VCYUak and this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCwKMco1VMo I think the video quality is terrible. I used auto focus but then I tune the focus by my hand because I know the auto focus is not very good. So I think the problem must be somewhere else. I have only kit lenses, that means the 18-55mm and 50mm f1.8. The first video was shot with the 18-55mm and the second with 50mm. I really don't know what to do with this. Can anyone help me please? Thank you in advance and sorry for my English.
  14. YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwgSWqdbniM Vimeo (downloadable): https://vimeo.com/67472338   First part used an LED light on camera; last part is ambient light.   Workflow: raw2dng => DNGs to ACR+AE => rendered as 175Mbps 10-bit 422 DNxHD MOV => edited in Premiere Pro CS6. AE CS6 Render Settings / Render Depth set to 16-bit and Output Module / Depth set to Trillions of colors (to make sure DNxHD was getting >= 10 bit color). 12-Core MacPro (running Win7x64) renders DNG to DNxHD at ~6FPS. Komputerbay 32GB 1000X (supports 1920x1080). Have 2 64GB 1000X on order. 128GB 1000X can only support 1920x900; was going to return it however Amazon offered a very generous discount to keep it (useful enough to keep).
  15. Hey guys I'm new to the forum. I didn't see a section to introduce myself so I guess I'll just share a video!   A little tl:dr story about me, I started off as an amateur photographer until someone asked me if I could do a video for them. Warning them that I never shot video, I did it anyway while applying my photography knowledge into video. The result is me selling my 40D to get a 60D lol. First one I did was back in August 2012.   The person that asked me is the same one I just finished my recent video for. He goes by Sizzle and is a hip-hop artist.   Gear info: Canon 60D Sigma 30mm 1.4 Canon 50mm 1.8 Flycam Nano Neewer CN-160 on a lightweight monopod   I don't know many editing softwares except Sony Vegas Pro 12. The photographer in me tells me to try to get it right in camera and not rely on Photoshop. Well, in this video you won't see special effects to try to make it fancy lol although I'd like to learn them one day to have in my arsenal.   http://youtu.be/RYTmwl3w_eE   Views are around 31k in his channel, got there in less than a month. This is my third music video. CC welcome. All my videos thus far have been on other music websites (not like MTV or BET or anything lol) so the feedback so far from fans have been great. The only CC I get are from fellow videographers lol.   Also, Like my page if you want :) I try to update it with other video projects I'm doing but also sharing photography/videography stuff/news. I currently have at least four other music videos pending. But with school and all I can't really get to them yet. https://www.facebook.com/MAVPMedia
  16. Hi everyone,   I'm posting this because I think it will genuinely be of interest to at least some of you, and I'm really hoping it isn't considered spam, because that is definitely not my intent.   I'm a DSLR filmmaker and I developed a cool little widget thing that I'm now making available via Kickstarter. It's called the Multiplate and it stays on your camera all day long, and lets you mount things like a monitor, 15mm rods, follow focus, matte box, handles, etc - without having to switch out to a totally different configuration. Just attach the pieces you need, take off the ones you don't and carry on shooting.   [attachment=500:The-Multiplate-sm.jpg]   There are only 10 days left on the Kickstarter and we're pretty close to the funding target. Take a look (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1822814480/the-multiplate-the-dslr-filmmakers-essential-mount) and see if it's something you might be interested in helping make a reality.   Thanks!
  17. So I received the new Ac7 and did a quick review on it. let me know what you guys think. Long time lurker, now a member   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BRyM9ksZjc
  18. I wanted to share my first film shot on the Canon C100 Cinema Cam. I shot the whole thing in one weekend for a 48 Hour Film Festival using only 3 Zeiss ZE lenses: 15mm 2.8, 35mm 1.4, and 85mm 1.4. 90% of it ended up on the 35mm. Amazing Lens!   I really liked the look of the C100 with the Zeisses. We shot, not in C-Log, but  the "High Dynamic Range" profile. Feels very filmic to me. (Some shots more than others.) Also, the C100 was a breeze to shoot on for a 48 hour festival. Adaptable to all 5 of our locations within seconds and post-production was cake. Such an easy workflow.   Tell me what you think!   http://vimeo.com/64573912
  19. Hello everybody I'm selling my hardly used AGC disable cable form dslrcable.com I'm in europe, buyer pays the price. Feel free to make me an offer, as I know it hasnt got much value but still maybe someone needs one instead of it laying around my house. Thanks
  20. https://vimeo.com/18743558   After completing a few fesitvals, we've made this short film public now. It was shot a couple of years ago all on 550D. That was before I used Magic Lantern, mosaic filter, knew half of what I do now!    We're still pretty happy with it now, though we're also confident of doing better on the next one.   It was also way before Black Mirror ;)
  21. Hello fellow lens gurus, I've been looking to buy some kind of start lens, to what will hopefully soon be my anamorphic lens collection. I tired to buy a set of oct-19 lomos over the summer but was endlessly outbid. I'm a canon 5dmk3 and canon l series glass owner, and have wanted to adapt or better yet, actually own anamorphic primes that work on a full frame sensor without dual focusing or piggybacking lens together. I found this on eBay today but don't know much about this lens other than its a later isco and is multi coated. The nice thing seems to be that it already is equipt with and canon lens mount, but I'm not sure if this 50mm lens will cover the full frame sensor on the 5d3. http://www.ebay.com/itm/130864721991?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Take a look and let me know your thoughts before I consider plopping down 2gs. Thanks for your help as always guys!!
  22. Hi,    I've just finished my 1Dc review, if you're interested, read it here: http://carousel.hu/1Dc/   Also there are some files you can download and grade.   thanks
  23. Hi, just wanted to start a topic about using 3rd party lenses with the Metabones Speed Booster.  Their website warns about the possibility of some lenses having protruding rear elements that could scratch the adapter or short out the electrical connections.   I don't yet own any EF lenses, so I'm currently using a Rainbow Imaging Nikon to EF adapter.  The lenses I've tried with this are:   - 50mm f/1.8 pancake (all manual)   - 24mm f/2 AIS (all manual)   Camera is a Sony NEX-5n.   After my first day of trials, this combo works fine.  My caveats so far:   - The Nikon adapter tends to stick to the lens, requiring a manual depress of the delicate release lever in order to unscrew it from the lens.  So I'm just buying another Rainbow Imaging adapter and plan on leaving it on the lens all the time.   - The lens focuses a bit past infinity.   Other than that, I'm really enjoying the Speed Booster and see no image degradation.  Will be posting sample videos soon.   Anyone else tried other lenses?
  24. I shot my videos using a T3i and I'm editing my clips using Magic Bullet Looks. I have a waterfall cip and I would like to reverse the flow of water so that it appears to be flowing backwards, then foward in a type of loop. Its a moving shoot (camera tilts downwards) so I'm thinking that I need to isolate the water in order for this effect to happen? Can anyone advise me on how to go about doing this?
