My cameras and kit

  1. Selling my Bolex anamorphot 8/19/1.5x. Bought it on ebay Christmas 2013 after looking everywhere for this particular lens. As you already know, it is extremely rare to find one. Optics are good, no haze, fungus, scratches, dents. Minor dust particles that don't affect quality at all. I took great care of this little lens. I'm taking for granted that members of this forum know the fine details and value of this particular lens already but feel free to ask me anything about it. Included with lens are the original case (2X), with tools, soft pouch I purchased to keep lens in, and clamp to mount onto your taking lens. Rear thread is 24mm. Lens is quite small. Minimum focusing distance of 2.5 feet. Maximum focusing to infinity. Sharp through all apertures. Requires focusing on both this lens and taking lens. Comes with lens hood, and original miscellaneous equipment. I'm including a Vid Atlantic anamorphic clamp. It has a rear thread of 60mm. Comes with 2 step up rings. 52-60mm and 58-60mm. You can, of course attach more to make your taking lens fit. On crop sensor cameras (7D, T2i, GH2, etc.) widest lens you can use is 40 - 50mm. Any wider and you get vignetting. On full frame sensors I think you have to use 85 or longer to avoid vignetting. Used mainly on a Lumix GH2 micro 4/3 sensor with different Nikkor 35, 50, 85mm primes. If you love the look of authentic widescreen ratio this is one of the best tools to give you that. Search Vimeo for "bolex moller anamorphic" and for some amazing results this lens can do. Here are some 2013 posts from my instagram account as proof I actually own the lens:
  2. Hello, New to the anamorphic game, have some questions. Few pics of the Hypergonar HiFi2 on a 7D (BMPCC next up). So far the results have been very nice and love the flares, but we noticed this lens is a bit soft. We've tried adding 1", 2", 3" of space between the camera lens and anamorphic lens hoping to find the "focal point"... didn't notice any difference. Moving on, Stopping down at F5.6 - F11 has increased the sharpness, but not by much. I'm curious if anyone else has a quick fix or has played with the inner glass orientation ? Any info. is good info. :)
  3. Hi there, I have just got a Kowa 16D over the weekend. I am completely new to this and I have read on this forum and elsewhere, but I am not sure yet of what lens and clamps are best. Apparently, the Kowa 16D is not the same as the 8Z, as they say here. I have seen that in a lot of videos people is using the Helios 44 with Redstan Clamps. Is this the best for the Kowa 16D? I have also seen that some guys are using the Nikon 50mm. I have got a Panasonic GH2 with a SLR Magic 25mm T0.95. So I believe I will need to buy a lens anyway. I would like to also add some diopters as well. If you guys have some suggestions, I will very much appreciate any comments. Thank you PS: I am at work and I have the lens at home, so I will post some pictures later.
  4. Hello, I've been traveling since may 2013, and making travel videos with my gh3 and a ts3cine highspeed camera. I was inspired by EOSHD to try out an anamorphic lens. Having blown my budget on gear before i left, I was looking for something on the cheap. I managed to grab a Bell & Howell Kowa 2x from ebay for $340. I had it sent to my mom and she met me in Bangkok. So here is the first stuff I have shot with a anamorphic. Run and gun with a dual focus anamorphic, not the easiest..... If you like please check out my vimeo page for lots of other travel videos.... Thanks, James
  5. Finally got around to finishing this off. Was a bit of a nightmare due to hard drive space & a slow computer. Filmed on a Canon 60D, Helios 44-2 & Iscorama 54 (more details on Vimeo).
  6. I am selling Kollmorgen Kosaka KA298 anamorphic, so make an offers. I will post images of lens soon. Paypal transaction only.
  7. When you are shooting with ML and defining a 4:3 aspect ratio are you using the same height as normal 16:9 shooting or does this force you into a center-cut crop mode?
  8. It's apparently moved bigots and xenophobes to wave their freak flag on Twitter but it's a very pretty commercial. ...I still haven't found any info on the making-of but my money is on C-Series lenses.
  9. Hi, what experiences do you have with choosing the right aperture for the best possible focus? I use a gh2 + canon fd 50mm 1.4 + anamorphic adapter (century optix like) And i have very big difficulties to get any focus from objects more far away than 5 meters. Here a little test Any tips? Thanks a lot Emin
  10. Hey! Does anyone have a suggestion for a good film-look lens with Nikon mount which doesn't cost a thousand dollars? I'm not quite happy with my lenses so far concerning the sharpness and look, as most of them are photographic lenses. Zoom wouldn't be bad, but doesn't have to be. Also of course it should be somewhat fast. Perhaps anyone has a advice or a secret tip? Shall be used on BMPCC with BMPCC-Nikon Speedbooster.
  11. Hi everybody and anamorphic lovers ! Here is my 1st movie with the upcoming SLR Magic anamorphot 1.33X - 50 anamorphic lens on OM-D & Sony A7 !!! :) It's now since one week that I own the upcoming new anamorphic lens from SLR Magic, the anamorphot 1.33X - 50. It's a compact and light 1.33X anamorphic lens, working from 40mm on full frame and 20mm on M43 systems. It has the particularity of having a focus ring for close focus, it's very convenient because you can use it without diopters. Another difference seems to be the usuability of shooting at fast apertures. I even did a fast test at T0.95 on the SLR Magic 25mm and the image was still usable ! More tests to come. I've used two cameras with two different lenses on this movie. First the OM-D OM-5 from Olympus. Despite it's not so good video codec, this camera has what the other cameras don't have (yet) : an incredible 5 axis stabilization system. The addition of the Lumix 20mm with the SLR Magic anamorphot on the OM-D make quite the perfect combo. The problem that I still have with the love-able OM-D is finding the best image mode. I'm usually using the "Art3" mode Pale&Light Color (like in this movie), or sometimes "Art4" mode Light tone mode. Second the new Sony A7, the first full frame hybrid camera. For me this camera is very lovable too. For the first time it's offering the same flexibility than M43 systems : putting thousand third part lenses (such as Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Contax, Leica, M39, M42, Cine lenses, and so on....). And enjoy those lenses in full frame. The 50$ Nikon 50mm f1.8 is a cheap and very good pancake lens. I've put on the Sony A7 with a Novoflex E to Nikon mount adapter. The result with the SLR Anamorphot is very good too, and there is less distortion on the edges than the Lumix 20mm on the OM-D. It's real obvious when you watch the difference on the flares from the two lenses. Using the diopters on the SLR Magic anamorphot improve the sharpness of the image. The 0.33X achromatic diopter from SLR Magic seems good and offer more sharpness, but it is not indispensable for close focus, because of the close up focus ring of the lens. The 1.3X gives the possibility to film closer to the subject, and the 3X I'm using too... The three diopters of the movie are reavealing tremendous flares, as you can see at the end of the "Crêpes scene". Thank you for watching ! Any comment are welcome ! :) SLR Magic anamorphot 1.33X - 50 anamorphic lens SLR Magic 0.33X and 1.3X achromatics diopters Marumi 3X achromatic diopter on Sony A7 with Nikon 50mm f1.8 E Serie and Olympus OM-D O-M5 with Lumix 20mm f1.7 pancake lens 1080 24P on the Sony 1080 30P on the Olympus from 200 ISO (most of the time), 800 ISO (kitchen scene) to 2000 ISO (couch scene) Apertures from f1.7 to f5.6, most of the shot taken at f2.8 Light Craft mark II variable ND filter Music : Trentemøller "Candy Tongue (Feat. 13. I am hoping to use the GH3 for a run-and-gun doc camera. I would like to use a lens with a long zoom range that also has built in image stabilization. Does anyone have experience or concerns with DX lenses/Metabones Speed Booster for GH3? Can I expect stabilization (VR) to function correctly? Will I run into vignetting problems? I don't use AF for video, but will it function for stills? Will the camera control the aperture, or will the dial on the adapter do that? I'm looking at the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/644744-USA/Nikon_2192_AF_S_DX_NIKKOR_18_200mm.html with Metabones Nikon G to Micro Four Thirds Speed Booster on the GH3. My calculations suggest that this should give a GH3 equivalent of 13-143mm with a 1-stop gain. Thanks! I have been reading EOSHD for a few months now and find it such a good resource. PS: Why not use a Panasonic lens? I have not been happy with panasonic lenses as they seem to have poor behavior when it comes to zooms, which I sometimes want to keep. The 14-140mm has a focus flutter on zooms, and the 12-35mm, which claims a constant aperture of 2.8, actually opens up and closes down in steps while zooming, basically creating an exposure flutter. I have samples on vimeo, but it's down right now. I can post them later if someone wants.
  14. The taking lens was the SLR Magic 35mm T1.4 Cine Mark II for both of these, used at F2.8, the camera was a GH3. A live acoustic video, on this one I've intentionally gone for a look with flares: Some night street footage, at F2.8 it's a bit tricky when there's not much street lighting, I may well re-edit this video, maybe to include more footage.
  15. How to know about squeeze ratio of anamorphic lens (1.5x/2x) if there's no information on the lens and mine is Kowa anamorphic 35.

  17. Hello there, I am trying to get an anamorphic lens for my GH2 and have come across a LOMO Arriflex 20-120mm with PL mount that someone is selling for £1.400. http://london.craigslist.co.uk/phd/4297942296.html I am new to anamorphic and I was looking for the cheaper Sankor and Kowa, but I was really excited at first. After that, I read this: '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>> Now, I am not sure if this lens it is as amazing as it looks and if the price is fair. I also found this video from what it seems to be the same lens: Any advice? Thank you for your time Borja
  18. Hello everybody, here is my new anamorphic set ! :) baby Berthiot Hypergonar anamorphic 1.75X lens Qioptiq Linos MeVis-C 35mm f1.6 C-mount lens I've order a special machined step up flat ring, then unscrew from the C-mount lens the ring that maintains the glass, then replace by the flat ring. I've screwed the original Berthiot small clamp, then screw and aligned the anamorphic. This combination of these two lenses seem to be very promising. Sharpness and no vignetting :) Here is the set and two pictures taken with it on my OMD (video is coming soon). Thanks for your attention. http://www.flickr.com/photos/43243778@N04/sets/72157636631334626/
  19. Long time lurker (finally decided to register), first time poster. I'm selling two gorgeous anamorphic lenses: The trusty Sankor 16c and the Optivision XW 5000. I'm also selling some FD lenses, zooms, Tokina MD Zoom, filters, clamps, and some other bits and pieces. Sankor 16c (with lens caps, pouch and original box) - $250 2X compression, coveted blue flares, small, light weight. Barrel has minor cosmetic scuffs, glass is flawless. It's nice, but I've barely used it in the 8 years I've owned it. And you can't go too wide with it. Here's a video I shot with the Sankor/GH13/Helios 44M: Photos of the product: '' target='_blank'>> '' target='_blank'>> '' target='_blank'>> Optivision XW 5000 - $350 2X compression, very sharp, large barrel (I can go as as wide as 28mm on the GH13, in 2.40:1. Any wider and you get vignetting. 35mm on the GH13 covers the full frame with no vignetting), lens flare seems to match the color of the light (tungsten looks white, sunlight looks orange, mag flashlights give blue flare). The barrel also has minor cosmetic scuffs, but the glass is great. I bought it second hand from a camera shop, so it didn't have lens caps. I do have a small bag I bought for it that I'll throw in for free. Videos shot with the Optivision: https://vimeo.com/48040832 Pictures of the product: '' target='_blank'>> '' target='_blank'>> Vid Atlantic Clamps - $30 each Basic Clamp with 60mm thread base, plus 52, 55 and 58mm step rings (the 55 doesn't actually come with the package, but I used one I already had that I'll unclude), extra screws and a pouch for the rings and screws. 72mm Front Filter clamp, for larger anamorphic lenses/filters. '' target='_blank'>> '' target='_blank'>> Vivitar 67mm Macros (1, 2, 3) - $10 each Very sharp, clean glass. I also have a pouch, and 72-67 and 67-72 step rings for use with the filter clamp, macros and macros with filters, included for free. Video (Macros with Optivision): https://vimeo.com/38679583 (The Anamorphic Selfies and Butter videos I posted above used these macro/anamorphic combinations). '' target='_blank'>> '' target='_blank'>> Manfrotto Lens support - $40 Telephoto lens support that I used to support my Optivision lens as it's bulky and heavy. It has an articulted head, extendable support and a quick release plate, multiple threads for use with a tripod. Very handy, but if I'm selling my Optivision, I won't have any use for it. '' target='_blank'>> 72mm Filters: Vivitar Variable ND $15, Tiffen Circular Polarizer $15, Tiffen UV Haze 1 Protector $5, Tiffen 4 Filter pouch $5 Clean, good quaity. I'll include Bower 52-72 and 55-72 step rings and the pouch for free if you buy all three filters. '' target='_blank'>> '' target='_blank'>> Panasonic Lumix G Vario 14-42mm 3.5-5.6 zoom - $70 Excellent condition, barely used. I'm the original owner. '' target='_blank'>> '' target='_blank'>> Canon EF/s 18-55mm 3.5-5.6 zoom - $70 Excellent condition, I'm the second owner but I've barely used it. '' target='_blank'>> '' target='_blank'>> Tokina MD 28-70mm 2.8-4.3 zoom - $25 Minolta MD mount, excellent condition, great quality, pretty fast at wide angle for a zoom (f/2.8). Includes a pouch. I'll also throw in an MD-MFT adapter if the buyer wants it (free). Canon 135mm 3.5 FD lens - $10 Glass is great, but the serial number was scratched off by an earlier owner. It's missing the front lens cap, but has a Hoya Filter protecting it (the owner before had keept it attached at all times, so he said). It's nice, but a bit too slow of an aperture for my needs. '' target='_blank'>> '' target='_blank'>> Canon 28mm 3.5 FD lens - $10 Excellent condition, glass is clean. Has a generic lens cap and Hoya Skylight filter (came with it when I bought it). Again, nice, but a little too slow. '' target='_blank'>> '' target='_blank'>> Canon 35mm 3.5 FD lens - $10 Excellent condition, clean glass, includes the original lens caps. Too slow wide open so I never really use it. '' target='_blank'>> '' target='_blank'>> Kalimar 28-105mm 3.5-4.5 FD lens - $10 I'll sell all four FD lenses together as a kit for $30, or all the Canon primes as a kit for $25. Excellent condition, clean glass. It's a decent lens, but I never use it. Includes original lens caps. '' target='_blank'>> '' target='_blank'>> I'll also sell anamorphic kits with clamps, support, macros, filters, etc. at a discount, which will depend on what lens and extras you want. I'll accept paypal or cash. If you're in the LA area we can do an in-person transaction, if you're comfortable with that. I really need to get rid of a lot of these lenses I never use. I'll always love anamorphic, but I cant stand the dual-focus system, and the general pain of the anamorphic process. I've debated selling them for a long time, but I'm finally ready to let them go. I'd like to spend the money on more lights, and maybe a follow focus/rails, which I've managed to survive without all this time, but it would still help immensely. Thanks for browsing!
  20. Lowered price:$600 Diopter D=1m for Lomo Foton-A anamorphic attachment lens, AG-LA7200, iscorama, etc.. Bought for $950 Very Rare, This is perhaps one of the last Foton-A diopter you can find on internet. This diopter is mounted onto front part of Foton-A anamorphic attachment. The diopter allows to shoot closer (from 1 meter) and allow very sharp shooting for closer shoot with anamorphic lens or attachment. Lens part are in good conditions. There are some cleaning marks and some dust of surfaces, but no scratches, no glass chips, no fungus. There are some small marks on the metal part you can see it on the photos. May be used with other lenses (AG-LA7200, iscorama, lomo, century optics, etc..). you can see reviews of the use of this diopter coupled with AG-LA7200 on 5D mark II at http://www.eoshd.com/content/555 and > You can buy it now on eBay: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Diopter-1m-for-lomo-Foton-A-anamorphic-attachment-lens-/221356997974?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item3389e7bd56 Thanks, Jeff
  21. Alright, decided to let my baby go and I have also lowered the price (firm price, please do not bargain). Prefer local pickup so you can inspect the lens. Price: no longer for sale :) Edit: I just bought a Canon 5Diii and I am glad I didn't sell this gem :)
  22. Anamorphic adapter for sale: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/221350551794 Also, I have the rare Foton 1m in good condition. Thanks, Jeff atomcc@hotmail.com
  23. Hello all, I've decided to sell my Kowa Prominar 16-S anamorphic lens with Redstan clamps so I can upgrade some of my other gear. I'd love to keep it, but I'm not shooting anamorphic enough and I have other needs as far as gear. The lens is a 2x stretch and the minimum focus distance is 5 ft. Dual focus. Images are sharp. I've used this with a Canon FD 50mm f/1.4 and a Helios 44-2 58mm f/2. The images I've gotten from both lenses are very nice and I like them a lot. You'll have to stop down though to f/4-5.6 to get the images sharp. The back clamp fits this lens like a glove and has a rear thread of 52mm. Front adapter has a filter thread of 72mm and attaches to the lens via included screws. There is a little bit of internal dust as well as some markings on one of the front internal elements which has NO EFFECT on the image at all. Purely cosmetic. Pictures can be provided upon PM. Here's something I shot with it: https://vimeo.com/70602844 I have pictures available upon request. This is a great starter lens for anyone who is looking into anamorphic but doesn't want to drop a boat load of cash on anything crazy. $350 shipped for everything. Paypal only. Don't want to deal with eBay. Plus it comes with a sweet snakeskin box. Thanks!
  24. Ive been experimenting for a while with the Panasonic LA7200. I just cant seem to cut down on the edge blurring with it. I shot this with a Canon 5d Mark III with 85mm L1.2 and the edge blurring is still very evident. I had hoped the telephoto of the 85mm would help but it did not seem to. http://adobe.ly/1fKUVlU ISO320 85mm F8 1/400 sec However I've seen videos of people using the La7200 with Canon EOS 5d Mark II full frame with none of the edge blurring. Really been trying to figure this out, does anyone have any suggestions? '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>> Maybe its just not noticeable here.
  25. Hello there. I've picked up an Iscorama 54 (with a struggle, bloody heavy lump). Have been looking for the following without much success: 1: Angenieux single element +0.35 82mm 2: +0.25 82mm achromatic doublet 3: Tokina +0.4 72mm achromat Any links, offers or advice is much appreciated. If you've got any, please let me know via PM what you'd be keen to sell them for. Thanks a lot, Jae.
