1. Hi everyone, We know how to handle aspect ratio on FCP, premiere ... But ,who knows how to handle on lightroom? I know how to fix aspect ratio with anamorphic in PS, but can't do in lightroom... Best.
2. Hello all, I've decided to sell my Kowa Prominar 16-S anamorphic lens with Redstan clamps so I can upgrade some of my other gear. I'd love to keep it, but I'm not shooting anamorphic enough and I have other needs as far as gear. The lens is a 2x stretch and the minimum focus distance is 5 ft. Dual focus. Images are sharp. I've used this with a Canon FD 50mm f/1.4 and a Helios 44-2 58mm f/2. The images I've gotten from both lenses are very nice and I like them a lot. You'll have to stop down though to f/4-5.6 to get the images sharp. The back clamp fits this lens like a glove and has a rear thread of 52mm. Front adapter has a filter thread of 72mm and attaches to the lens via included screws. There is a little bit of internal dust as well as some markings on one of the front internal elements which has NO EFFECT on the image at all. Purely cosmetic. Pictures can be provided upon PM. Here's something I shot with it: https://vimeo.com/70602844 I have pictures available upon request. This is a great starter lens for anyone who is looking into anamorphic but doesn't want to drop a boat load of cash on anything crazy. $350 shipped for everything. Paypal only. Don't want to deal with eBay. Plus it comes with a sweet snakeskin box. Thanks!
3. We are already discussing monitors that allow for proper anamorphic monitoring here: http://www.eoshd.com/comments/topic/1832-monitors-for-2x-and-15x-stretch-preview/ But I thought that it would be useful to have one thread where we all share our Custom Scale settings for anamorphic monitoring (especially since Magic Lantern has brought back 4:3 shooting in raw mode at assorted resolutions). For those unfamiliar with this feature, the best description that I have found is in the manual for the old DP1: http://www.eoshd.com/comments/uploads/gallery/album_14/gallery_18451_14_22383.png

5. Hello my EOSHD's friend !      Thank you for supporting me on the Nikon Film festival !   It's a challenge of talking about memory in less than 140 secondes !   You can watch it and give me support there :   http://www.festivalnikon.fr/video/2013/1264     Thanks for your help   Seb Farges
6. Hello to everyone, I would love to start shooting anamorphic video with my canon mark iii, and I am thinking to buy an entry level anamorphic lens and the adaptors required. Would you kindly direct me to the right path of anamorphic discovery? Which lens should I start scavenging the internets for..and if you own a mark iii what is the adaptor that works? Is there a topic for Anamorphic lenses for canon i can search; My budget is modest. my anamorphic appettite big. Thank you for your help c.
7. Hi my anamorphic friends ! Here are some new stuff taken with my favorite light and sharp anamorphic combo. Tell me what you think ! Thanks for watching !   https://vimeo.com/78594325     This movie has been shoot a week-end mid october in Bordeaux, and first week-end of november in the countryside.  I'm glad to have now I think the perfect anamorphic set combination for my baby Hypergonar anamorphic lens. I bought few weeks ago a used Qioptiq C-mount lens, usually used in industry. This lens is very sharp, even at it's fastest aperture (f1.6) and this wide aperture is still usable with the anamorphic on it ! Some of the shot of the movie had been taken at f1.6.   The Filick'r album : flickr.com/photos/43243778@N04/sets/72157636631334626/   It was not possible to screw directly the anamorphic lens on the Qioptiq prime lens because the front barrel is turning when you focusing. So I ordered a special machined flat step up ring to attach the two lens. I've unscrewed the ring on the Qioptiq that is maintening the glass, and replace with the special machined flat ring. Then I screwed on it the original small Berthiot clamp that can align the anamorphic lens. Then I put the baby Berthiot hypergonar in it. The combination suits perfectly ! The weight of this anamorphic combo is quite light. The Hypergonar weight is 57 grams, the clamp maybe 20 grams, the Qioptiq is 210 gram, then the two filters (diopter + variable ND) and step up rings maybe 150 grams. So the total is around only 400 grams ! And finally using the OM-D with it's 5 axis stabilization system with an anamorphic combo is very useful ! Olympus om-d e-m5 / 1080p 30 Art4 "light tone" mode no color correction qioptiq linosMevis-C c-mount 35mm f1.6 baby hypergonar 1.75x anamorphic lens tokina close-up 0.5 variable ND filter Cokin Pure Harmony Xume magnetic filter attachments music / soundtrack vangelis / blade runner   Here is the first part of this pocket anamorphic set : vimeo.com/77265744 And here is a movie taken with this lens alone : vimeo.com/75065010
8. Hello Guys! Just a small example how good this combo is. Really happy with the results  ;)   D5200 used here because I'm waiting for my Nikon F to mft adapter. (Tilt and swivel lcd was very usefull in this situation to focus.)     This will be my setup with the pocket in a few days, I will use a 28mm, 35mm and this 50mm all from Nikkor.   https://vimeo.com/77586987     Best, JDS
9. Here we go!     "We are proud to announce that I am testing anamorphic Lenses for DSLR ! They will work on Full frame like 5D MKIII and crop 1.6 Like 7D. The Lenses line are named "LEONARDO Project 1" - They will be 35mm , 50mm and 72mm. Also a Zoom is work in progress. Please stay tune for more info! 10. Hello everybody, here is my new anamorphic set ! :) baby Berthiot Hypergonar anamorphic 1.75X lens Qioptiq Linos MeVis-C 35mm f1.6 C-mount lens I've order a special machined step up flat ring, then unscrew from the C-mount lens the ring that maintains the glass, then replace by the flat ring. I've screwed the original Berthiot small clamp, then screw and aligned the anamorphic. This combination of these two lenses seem to be very promising. Sharpness and no vignetting :) Here is the set and two pictures taken with it on my OMD (video is coming soon). Thanks for your attention. http://www.flickr.com/photos/43243778@N04/sets/72157636631334626/
11. Hey there I want to sell my lovely Iscorama 36 Nikon 50mm 2.8. It's really hard to give this beauty away but there are times where you have to do what you have to do. This lens is in a perfect condition, all glasses are free of fungus, dust, oil or scratches. The only marks of usage are visible at the white numbers on the focus ring and at the rear barrel due to too cheap mounting bracket. This bracket caused some minor scratches which doesn't effect usability at all. The optics are perfectly clear and focus ring runs very smoothly. I've got also the very rare and high quality achromat TOKINA +.4 72mm, which is used to reduce minimum focus distance with the iscorama. The Package includes: Iscorama 36 anamorphot Nikon 50mm 2.8 taking lens Nikon to Canon adapter     Original Iscorama packaging with instruction manual TOKINA At-X +.4 Achromat 72mm     little Tokina leather bag Soligor +1,+2,+4 Achromat 72mm     little Soligor leather bag several Step rings/distance rings to fit other lenses (which is in my opinion the safest and fastest way to use the anamorphot)    52mm->49mm    49mm->52mm    58mm->52mm    67mm->52mm    2x distance ring 52mm some photos of the optics and filters are attached below Pricing for the hole package with national shipping (incl. insurance): 3200€ with paypal Collection also available, current product location: Germany, Nuremberg international shipping is calculated as soon as I know the destination country. customs duty may be added within non EU countries! I bought the lens on ebay US and i was lucky enough that customs haven't charged me,  just FYI.
12. Today just arrived Tushinsky variable ration anamorphic projection lens. Some tests I made today didn't prove much useful (shot with GF3 with ETC), will post some more in next days. I haven't found any videos made through this adapter on the net. Anybody's got some experience with this beast? 13. I'm traveling to NYC end of October.  I'd like to see if there are any Anamorphic shooters in the city.  I'm bringing my GH3 and 5DmkIII, be nice to get some Anamorphic shots of the city.  Let me know thanks!
14. All of Edgar Wright's films have had impressive or, at the very least, quite pleasing and slick cinematography and his most recent installment to his and Simon Pegg's "Cornetto Trilogy", The World's End, is no exception.  There's a great feature article covering the style and technical approach to the film in the September issue of American Cinematographer Magazine (http://www.theasc.com/ac_magazine/September2013/current.php).   When it got to the lens selection for the anamorphic portions of the film (once the scifi madness kicks in) I wasn't at all surprised that Wright and his DP went for a classic sampling that included C-Series lenses for their greater character versus new cinema anamorphics.  Wright likes to shine lights into the lens as much as anyone here (and he does it so much better than JJ Abrams).  Coincidentally, Panavision made a discovery at their Woodland Hills location, a B-Series that Panavision had failed to catalog and been long forgotten.      Given the way a lot of discussions go around here over this anamorphic or that anamorphic, I had to smile when I read the part where this DP praises aberration and soft edges.           ...and I always like when they go into this sort of detail, about working or target stops used on a film.  Anyway, it's a nicely detailed story about a contemporary anamorphic film that's worth grabbing an issue for.     Only God Forgives is likewise covered in this issue, and though it's not anamorphic it is, very surprisingly, a mostly practicals show with very few cinema lights used.  Having seen the film it's almost too hard to believe the information in the article.
15. Hello, everyone. I'm new to the forum. Anamorphic lens are getting really tough to find on ebay so I figured I should try other means. :) I'm interested in acquiring one of the cheaper anamorphic lens like Sun, Sankor, Singer or similar. Please, if there's anyone interested in selling, contact me.   Thanks!
16. Hi,   I had such a good response last time I thought I would post my latest music video shot using an Optex anamorphic adapter.   https://vimeo.com/74284254   Shot on a Red One mostly in 2k crop mode 96fps I wanted to replicate the look of 16mm film. I love shooting in raw, it gave me lots of flexibility in post, using LUTs to get some really filmic colours. Would be cool to get some feed back from some fellow anamorphic lovers.   Cheers,   Chris.

18. I'm parting with my beloved LA7200 and all that goes with it: adapter rings, diopters set (+0.5, +1, +2), Cinetactics mattebox, the whole shebang.   Everything is in perfect working order, as new.   I bought it after reading Andrew's ultimate guide on anamorphic and must say I've been really pleased with it AFTER I managed to get my hands on the +0.5 diopter that is. It now focuses from infinity to about 20cm with a 14mm pancake.   Have been using it with my GH2 & following lens combo: 14mm Panasonic pancake, 24mm & 35mm Nikkor.   All pics are available on http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=171124778730   Get in touch if any question...   & while you're at it, check out the trailer I shot last month for a feature thriller film noir THRILLER FILM NOIR I'm prepping: https://vimeo.com/72806937   Cheerio, J.

20. Just put up some examples of what a 1950s Zeiss Ultrascope lens looks like when shooting wide open at an F2. Has a really great dream-like quality to it.   Shooting an Anamorphic Music Video in 1950s Ultrascope
21. Model Kyllie music video shot with Canon 5DmkIII RAW and Panasonic GH3. This is my first foray into shooting a music video with slow motion in mind. I also wanted to shoot with Anamorphic lenses and use a Steadicam for movement.  Learned a lot from this shoot, I hope to make the next one much better.   https://vimeo.com/72950991
22. Hey people, as a first endeavor I recently got my hands on some Rectimascop 48/2x lenses. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these and if so what is it.   Does anyone have a complete break down of a DSLR setup that works? (Clamps, bars, diapers, lens, etc...)   Thanks in advance
23. Testing out my recently acquired lenses with my Canon 5DmkIII using RAW.  The ability to record 3:2 as 1920x1280 is really great, but there is still a very limited ability to shoot wide with 2x Anamorphic lenses, in this case my Sankor 16D.  I have a Panasonic LA7200, but it's only a 1.33x stretch and doesn't get me the nice oval bokehs and stretched OOF areas that I want.  I really wish there was some kind of wide option using a 2x Anamorphic lens.  I also tested 1920x1280 versus 1920x1080 to see the difference.   https://vimeo.com/72941440   https://vimeo.com/72941441

25. Hi   I just have bought a Canon 5DMKIII and am experimenting with the RAW hack. As a Anamorphic lover i would like to pair my 1968 Iscorama x1.5 (m42 mount with the original 50mm f2.8) with the MKIII. Coming from a GH2 crop sensor world and new to the FF world i would like to ask for some advise. On the GH2 i used the Helios 44-2 and a old FD50mm as the taking lens. Not so keen on the Helios....   Which (old) manual lens would be a great combination on the MKIII? (As a taking lens) Love the flares of my Iscorama so i am looking for a non/single coated solution. Any experiences?   Never used the MKIII with the Magic Lantern anamorphic combi yet. Is the hack de-squizing live, even in the RAW mode?    Hope that you guys are willing to share some thoughts.   Thank you in advanced.
