My cameras and kit

  1. My first shot with the new camera and this lens adaptor. I am still learning. Cannon 50mm 22/f 200 ISO San Disk Extreme Pro card - 95MB/s (1) Afternoon light on a hazy day, no filters. Love the camera. Let me know what you think. Thanks, RJett
  2. I've shot this over a weekend last summer with a view of using it to raise funding to shoot the whole film. Check it out, it's short & sweet: Help us to make it happen, we need your voice. Go to www.bloody-title.com and be part of it! Thanks for reading, J.
  3. Made my own music video to showcase one of my songs. It's electronic music aka melodic dubstep. Anyhow... made this with my GH2 and GH3. All details in the description. If you like the music better alone its available online on the major streaming sites. Enjoy.
  4. UNTITLED BELGIAN FILM NOIR Following an earlier posting about a teaser I shot anamorphic on LA7200, I've now launched a crowdfunding campaign to finance the missing part of the production budget - principal photography to start this coming summer. It's bloody, noir, full of intrigue, and still missing a title. Check it out for yourself on www.bloody-title.com And help make it happen! Thanks for reading, Jo
  5. Hello everyone, These are just some random snaps cut together using the DSO Trump FF58 with a 1.5X oval aperture inside, combined with the iscorama 1.5X anamorhic. Simulating the bokeh of a 2X anamorphic.. Anyways I thought some of the shots looked pretty good an wanted to share. Pretty cool being able to shoot this on a D800 and not go to wide like 3.25:1 Password is buds
  6. Recently I got a cat, so now I can make proper test videos :P Panasonic GH4 firmware 1.0 Lens: Minolta MD 28mm f/2.8 + >Petit Cinevision 1.5x anamorphot 4K @ 24 fps (3840x2160) Cinelike V profile, ungraded All shots at f/2.8, 1/50. ISO around 4000. Soundtrack: "Menehune Dance" by James Pants (jamespants.com)
  7. "The newest addition to the Letus AnamorphX family: the 1.8x"
  8. Not sure if this was posted anywhere, but great test footage of the GH4 4K + Sankor 2x Anamorphic from Martin Wallgren:
  9. Wanted to share: I just recently shot this new music video by Bay Area musician Jeff Campbell, "Save Me," shot on the Canon 70D with only the help of tripods and a monopod. Black and white, flares galore. The camera was great, through and through. Had much tighter focus than my 7D. Have a watch:
  10. I want to use a zoom with my anamorphic attachment but don't know where to start looking, I need it to be cheap, vintage, and obviously the front filters can't turn when zooming or focusing the lens any recommendations?
  11. Ok so I've been using cineplus cinema picture style along side ive Lotus picture style both being a Kodak vision2 kind of in camera grade. I usually tweak them a bit in post but for the most part they are very good and quite cheap honestly but that's not what I wanted to talk about. What do you guys think about grading footage to look like 35 or 16mm film? I'm not talking necessarily "the film look" but I mean making footage actually look as if it was shot on film. What techniques do you use? Any type of workflow/grains you recommend? Is it overrated to go for this look and how often do you do this kind of grade?
  12. Hi! I have this anamorphic lens but I can't really know what it is exactly. Who can tell? It's exactly similar to a Kowa/Sankor/Singer 16D (and the "72mm Front Filter Ring" works on it), but it's only written on "Japan 2X anamorphic lens for BELL & HOWELL". Is it better or cheaper than the others Kowa/Sankor/Singer? My other question is: would it need an achromat or is it good enough to work "nude"? (I would like to try an "okina achromatic close up +0.4" with this anamo and have maybe a sharper image.) Would it work inevitably better with an Okina, or not? Thanks a lot!
  13. Hey, I randomly came across this on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Xume-72mm-Camera-Lens-Filter-Adapter-Ring-holder-Pro-kit-Kenko-Hoya-B-W-fit-/171066254292?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27d457e3d4 Sounds like it would be great for faster Diopter changes. Few of my concerns (besides a hundred bucks for magnets) are possible vignetting? I know I get some vignetting when I stack diopters on my isco 36, full frame. Anyone have any experiences with these?
  14. Simple, all-in-one lens kit for S35 and M43 sensors, I've shot many fun projects with this sharp and agreeable little setup. It's for sale now for anyone interested. Moving to SLR Magic Anamorphot soon. Let me know if you have any questions, thanks for looking! Click here for eBay auction, demo video in description.
  15. hi there! I read the following on the slr magic website from the slr magic website: "The adapter has a 77mm front filter thread and a native 62mm rear thread with a 58mm, 52mm, 49mm adapter rings provided. As such it is only suitable for lenses which have a front element size of 50mm or less." source: http://www.slrmagic.co.uk/slr-magic-anamorphot-133x-50-anamorphic-adapter.html 50mm or less? so if I wanna use that anamophot with a full frame e.g. 5d III there wouldn't be any proper lenses ...! as far as I remember Andrew Reid did a test with the canon pancake and that's 52 mm ... I'm confused. Can anyone help me?
  16. A Day at the Zoo with a Kowa Prominar 16-D in front of a Nikon (e) 50mm f/1.8 using the Redstan clamp.
  17. A trailer for an upcoming feature film I wrote and co-directed. We shot the movie on a C300 using the 16/32/1.5x Bolex Moller anamorphic adapter lens. Many thanks to the people on this forum for helping me figure out the logistics of this during pre-production! YouTube Link
  18. Hello, New to the anamorphic game, have some questions. Few pics of the Hypergonar HiFi2 on a 7D (BMPCC next up). So far the results have been very nice and love the flares, but we noticed this lens is a bit soft. We've tried adding 1", 2", 3" of space between the camera lens and anamorphic lens hoping to find the "focal point"... didn't notice any difference. Moving on, Stopping down at F5.6 - F11 has increased the sharpness, but not by much. I'm curious if anyone else has a quick fix or has played with the inner glass orientation ? Any info. is good info. :)
  19. Hi there, I have just got a Kowa 16D over the weekend. I am completely new to this and I have read on this forum and elsewhere, but I am not sure yet of what lens and clamps are best. Apparently, the Kowa 16D is not the same as the 8Z, as they say here. I have seen that in a lot of videos people is using the Helios 44 with Redstan Clamps. Is this the best for the Kowa 16D? I have also seen that some guys are using the Nikon 50mm. I have got a Panasonic GH2 with a SLR Magic 25mm T0.95. So I believe I will need to buy a lens anyway. I would like to also add some diopters as well. If you guys have some suggestions, I will very much appreciate any comments. Thank you PS: I am at work and I have the lens at home, so I will post some pictures later.
  20. Hello to everyone, My name is Mario Gorlas, i was born in hungary 1978 and live and work now for 20 years in germany. This is my first post at eoshd (i love this portal, thanks and my honor to Andrew Reid) and direct a "for sale" post. I know it's not the best idea, don't beat me, please and let me explain. I'm a guest in this forum for a long time and reading topics here a several times per week and especially i follow the works of Andrew Reid and Seb Farges. The problem was/is i never learnd english in school, since the last two years i'm teaching myself, but i'm ashamed for my bad english grammar and had big fear for bad critics, excuse me, please! We are a little filmteam of one woman and three guys. We're filming first of all weddings and also music clips and commercials. Our equipment was three Panasonic GH2, two Canon 5d MK2 and one Black Magic camera with several taking lenses, for example Voigtlander, Canon FD 50 and 85mm and this amazing anamorphic lenses. We starting to work with this anamorphic lenses in 2012, first a lttle scene here, a little scene there. Then more and more clients see our samples and want this look for there own film/clip, this 70's 80's look, they grown up with. We've produced amazing, wonderful looking videos, looking like big 70's and 80's cinematic movies, i love this optic. We've worked in november 2013 for german television on a documentary and we have now the opportunity to go on work with this television channel!! Buuut, there is a requirement, we must invest in Arri systems....ouch! You all know that this cameras are very expensive, and so must sell my anamorphic set with big big bigger tears in my eyes!!! Our cameras are all sold for fair prices except the ana's, it is no market here in germany, it seems like here is only a handfull people who worked with. For examples click the dropbox links below the pictures, there are screenshots out of quick test videos. This videos are realy quick tests, hold the ana with my hand in front of the taking lens. The camera was the badest thing i have for videos, a canon t3i 600d with kit lens 18-55mm (only for ebay photos), cause all other cameras are sold, all other equipment for these cameras are sold, all clamps for the anas are sold with the cams. With the right cam and taking lens you can get amazing qualitiy. I can't show any video cause there are copyright problems with the clients, the videos are not my own, please bear with me, you can find a lot of videos at vimeo and other video portals. The pictures are straight out of the cam, don't wondering about some pictures/scene/focus adjustment, i try to show you with some pictures how this ana look feels, how sharp is it in the edges, dof, light etc. Some of the Isco 1.5 screenshots are not correct de-squeeze. You can pay on my paypal account, this is a private sale, no sending back and get money back oportunity. Thanks for reading so much terrible english text ;o) For sale: Iscomorphot 8/1.5x for 790 $ also known as "Baby Iscorama" http:// Click the dropbox link for picture gallery https://www.dropbox.com/sh/b6rhdagkn8bii6s/BI6T9dEuN0 We used it for closeups, especially together with the Möller for dialog scenes. We used it when the focused object is moving in deepths or when the camera is moving (for example steadycam shots), zoom shots. Never in long shots/wide shots cause it's not the sharpest for this shots. It's the perfect allround ana for closeups and migrange shots. I payed over 1000$ in a time you can't get one, that is to much. - in very very good condition, the rear glass look like it's never be touched - smooth focus, one focus system (Isco patent) - front glass has little mini ?scratches/cleaning traces? i never try to polish away cause you don't see it on video and it has an effect on lightspots at night scenes and let it looked like a dreamy scene, i often use this effect in my products - no fungus, no dust - focus without diopter min 0,5 meter - with all equipment you see on the photos - very light - complete solid metal Iscomorphot 16/2x for 1190 $ http:// Click the dropbox link for picture gallery https://www.dropbox.com/sh/dp51e6yohacl1nx/LK6_XPs4ye We used this lens for midrange, long/wide and steadycam shots, very very sharp, wonderful amazing look!! 21. Hello, I've been traveling since may 2013, and making travel videos with my gh3 and a ts3cine highspeed camera. I was inspired by EOSHD to try out an anamorphic lens. Having blown my budget on gear before i left, I was looking for something on the cheap. I managed to grab a Bell & Howell Kowa 2x from ebay for $340. I had it sent to my mom and she met me in Bangkok. So here is the first stuff I have shot with a anamorphic. Run and gun with a dual focus anamorphic, not the easiest..... If you like please check out my vimeo page for lots of other travel videos.... Thanks, James
  22. I am selling Kollmorgen Kosaka KA298 anamorphic, so make an offers. I will post images of lens soon. Paypal transaction only.
  23. Finally got around to finishing this off. Was a bit of a nightmare due to hard drive space & a slow computer. Filmed on a Canon 60D, Helios 44-2 & Iscorama 54 (more details on Vimeo).
  24. Selling my Bolex anamorphot 8/19/1.5x. Bought it on ebay Christmas 2013 after looking everywhere for this particular lens. As you already know, it is extremely rare to find one. Optics are good, no haze, fungus, scratches, dents. Minor dust particles that don't affect quality at all. I took great care of this little lens. I'm taking for granted that members of this forum know the fine details and value of this particular lens already but feel free to ask me anything about it. Included with lens are the original case (2X), with tools, soft pouch I purchased to keep lens in, and clamp to mount onto your taking lens. Rear thread is 24mm. Lens is quite small. Minimum focusing distance of 2.5 feet. Maximum focusing to infinity. Sharp through all apertures. Requires focusing on both this lens and taking lens. Comes with lens hood, and original miscellaneous equipment. I'm including a Vid Atlantic anamorphic clamp. It has a rear thread of 60mm. Comes with 2 step up rings. 52-60mm and 58-60mm. You can, of course attach more to make your taking lens fit. On crop sensor cameras (7D, T2i, GH2, etc.) widest lens you can use is 40 - 50mm. Any wider and you get vignetting. On full frame sensors I think you have to use 85 or longer to avoid vignetting. Used mainly on a Lumix GH2 micro 4/3 sensor with different Nikkor 35, 50, 85mm primes. If you love the look of authentic widescreen ratio this is one of the best tools to give you that. Search Vimeo for "bolex moller anamorphic" and for some amazing results this lens can do. Here are some 2013 posts from my instagram account as proof I actually own the lens:
  25. When you are shooting with ML and defining a 4:3 aspect ratio are you using the same height as normal 16:9 shooting or does this force you into a center-cut crop mode?
