My cameras and kit

  1. Comes with: Sankor 16c in great condition 46mm thread Redstan clamp pics up soon $400 shipped in USA
  2. Testing out lenses with the Iscorama 36 wide open. I really want that separation from the background. It's easy now with the Metabones Speedbooster EF. There is something to be said about full frame lenses used with the Speedbooster vs micro 4/3rds native lenses. Also the Iscorama is the sharpest of the anamorphic adapters, although there are still some lenses that don't do well wide open. Shot on a GH4 4K (before v2.0 firmware, 16:9). Iscorama minimum distance is around 6 feet, half that with the Tokina +0.4 diopter.
  3. UPDATE: FOR FOCAL LENGTH PLEASE CHOOSE FULL-FRAME (35MM) EQUIVALENT (with focal reducer calculated into equation if used)! I think you should be able to delete your vote and then re-vote if you haven't. If your exact answer is not listed, please chose the closest. Feel free to explain and/or elaborate in the comments below.
  4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xh_IGpE-JGA&list=UUBWpVAaEn9CvmidPcK_mFHw After work yesterday, drove past the Auckland Domain. Weather was too good to pass up the opportunity to shoot something. Although it got cold really fast again. Can't believe its supposed to be summer. Slowly getting used to the dual focusing. I found myself rushing a little bit in this kind of situation because I wanted to get shots while the sun was still up.
  5. Screw A7s! Here's my 60D in low light lol. Just a quick test around the city. Tell me what you think. Is this set up working? Pentax 50mm 1.4 mounted with Isco ultra anamorphic lens http://vimeo.com/113132382
  6. Just a short fashion film I shot during a photoshoot the other day. Its pretty much the first real thing I have shot with my anamorphic lens, mainly due to its lack of run and gun ability, but I found with the 35-70 things worked out pretty smoothly. Never had to swap out lenses and it performs very well. I did not use the new firmware update photo mode. Mostly 48 & 60 fps Let me know what you think?! (Ive got a 15second version on my page too)
  7. Hey, Was wondering if anyone could give me a hand with this. I am totally new to this topic, I know absolutely nothing about it. I work for a local movie theater, and they had an old projector upstairs, with this lens attached to it. The manager said I could take it, so I figured I'd post online to find out more about it, and maybe see if it's worth anything. I had troubles uploading the pictures directly, so I hope linking is okay on this site. Lens is in good condition, just needs to be cleaned up. Hasn't been used in years. Thanks in advance. http://tinypic.com/r/2d94izn/8 http://tinypic.com/r/c3xja/8 http://tinypic.com/r/mv46zb/8 http://tinypic.com/r/w811jn/8
  8. I don't know if this has been posted before, but here's Mauri Galiano's very nice test which compares the GH4's various aspect ratios in 4k "Photo" mode using a Bolex 16/32 1.5x, an Isco 1.7x and a 2x Proskar. This sealed my decision to finally pull the trigger on a GH4. The only limitation I see right now is it's only in 30p and 25p. Apparently someone within Panasonic is pushing hard for 24p. Otherwise the GH4 (except low light) is an embarrsment of riches. eris
  9. 4th anamorphic exercise, now with +1 diopter. Shot in Tel Aviv, Nov. 7, 2014 using a Panasonic GH4 in 4K Photo Mode, 3:2 aspect ratio, Cine D. Lenses: Canon FD 50mm f/1.4, Rectimascop 48/2x anamorphic. Edited and graded with FCPX.
  10. Trying to understand / fix the LA7200 to make it clearer, less CA, sharper and more usable. Building a lens from other lenses to attempt to do this. In any case, im trying to understand what is causing the issues in general using the LA7200 on DSLR or Blackmagic cinema camera. Is it because of the sensor cropping then? The LA7200 was designed for a 4:3 sensor crop therefore it will not work correctly on the BMCC, or larger sensors? Or is it simply a design flaw overall of the LA7200 , poor lens design / poor coating If it is a crop sensor issue, what is happening on the LA7200 to cause issues because the sensors are larger crop. Is the back lens element simply too small, where the image is being projected against the taking lens too small therefore when desqueezed you see parts of the image you really should not? i.e. the taking lens and the sensor is capturing too much of the la7200? By adding a diopter behind it does that then, make it larger i.e. projects less of what is seen from the front of the la7200 to the sensor? Or is it more complex than this. I have tried using a diopter behind the LA7200 i think its a Tokina 0.5 Not sure. I mean it says No 0.05 so I dont know at this point. In any case it does not seem to help. Just trying to understand, thanks anyone that can help.
  11. Hi, I would be hugely greatful if someone can offer me some advice on this lens and the problem i have with it. I have just recieved a Isco - Gottingen lens and the focus ring seems to be locked at 16m. I'm unable to focus and was hoping someone was able to inform me the correct way to be able to fix this, or inform me as to which sew to undo. Many thanks for you time :)
  12. Hi, I'm starting doing anamorphic photography and EOSHD has been great helping me understanding this technic. I'm shooting with a Nikon Df that have a 3:2 ratio. My anamorphic adapter is a Kowa Prominar 16-H 2x. To find the aspect ratio, I took a photo at home to a circular box and squeezed the image until it turned circular. It gave me a ratio of 2,82:1, as you can see in this image https://www.dropbox.com/s/bmq13xv97syuzx5/DSC_7602_2%2C82.jpg?dl=0 I read an article somewhere that talked about a value of 2,66:1. I tried that but the box resulted a little ovalized https://www.dropbox.com/s/qxmxy9qtn9iokgi/DSC_7602_2%2C66.jpg?dl=0 Is my aspect ratio correct? I have this doubt because I can't find anywhere what's the best ratio when we are shooting in 3:2. My first anamorphic images with a 2,82:1 ratio https://www.flickr.com/photos/96852153@N00/sets/72157649089398262/ Thank you, Nuno Boavida
  13. I've been looking everywhere, but I can seem to find anything solid on squeezing anamorphic footage on Premiere Pro, only found methods for FCP. If anyone knows the best method of squeezing 1.5x and 2x anamorphic footage on Premiere Pro, that would be greatly appreciated.
  14. I've just received my second Iscorama Cinegon. The first Cinegon I have I noticed when I rotate the focus ring below 2m it will just fall apart. This doesn't happen to the original Iscorama I have. I thought it was the fault of my Cinegon at the time since its condition was so bad. When I got another Cinegon it's just exactly the same as the first one. It's like you're screwing the front glass out. So, is it normal for the Cinegon version?
  15. Hello, I've been experimenting with shooting anamorphic video on my GH4 in 4K photo mode, using a Rectimascop 48/2x adaptor. The more I shoot, the more I see the need to monitor the unsqueezed video in real time, for better control of composition and focus. Can anyone recommend an HDMI field monitor, 5" to 7", with the ability to stretch the video width x2? Many thanks, Izhar
  16. I'm read threads at RU, DVXuser and here. Looking to get a relatively cheap anamorphic adapter for around $500. It seems that the Kowa 8Z and its alternatives is a good bet. I've seen others that are projection style but the EOSHD book states that they should be avoided. Is that still true? Essentially avoid this http://www.ebay.com/itm/321535626176?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  17. Hello everybody! I listed a 2000 MC Isco anamorphic lens on eBay. If someone wants can ask questions. I bought this lens is 2 years and never used it, she is very well cleaned glass has no scratches or fungi, only a detached rear element. I did tests with a zeiss 35mm f2.8, Canon FD D1.4, Elgeet 12mm F1.2 (ETC), V6x17 (ETC), Angenieux 17-68 (ETC) all with a GH2 camera, and the images do not appear nothing detachment. I did a little test video, 2 days ago with a Canon 50mm f1.4 and can be seen here: Ebay link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/111494558009?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 You can also ask and accept offers. Thanks
  18. I have a question regarding the LA7200, basically in order to focus you would to move the back lens element or front. Would that be correct? Would it be possible to allow focus by adding another lens element behind the flat back lens element. Not sure how the image is presented by the square back of the LA7200. Im currently in the process of modifying it and frankensteining the lens with old junked vintage lenses to make it one whole lens that does not need a taking lens. Just want to make sure I have the physics right. Thanks in advance.
  19. Testing my Sony a7s with kowa prominar 16 H, Taking lens is a Russian Jupiter-11A
  20. I want to get everyone's opinion on this. Should I buy anamorphic lens or a dog schidt lens w/ the oval aperture? I'm wondering why people still go crazy on ebay for anamorphic lens when you can get the dog schidt lens with the option of a 1.5x or 2x oval apeture and is single focus. Essentially, both the anamorphic and DSO lens produce the same results as far as oval bokeh and flares, I would think. Is there something I'm missing? You would think that people would go with the DSO lens option as opposed to anamorphic lens seeing as how anamorphic lens require more such as double focus, clamps and other addition things to make them work properly. So, do anamorphic lens have more desirable characteristics (other then the whole crop/squeeze factor) then the DSO lens that I don't know about?
  21. Some moods testing the new photo mode in the 4:3 ratio with my 2X kowa anamorphic adapter. More in the description. Very nice feature to have now.
  22. Hey there, I wanted to share my first test with my SLR Magic Anamorphot adapter and see if anyone else is using this adapter and what lenses they've found work well. Specifically for EF mount. I shot this with a Canon C100 using the Sigma 35mm f1.4 Art lens, which worked beautifully. I'm looking to find other lenses that will work well which I've had little luck. I think it works best with lenses that have a narrow front lens element. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Here is the video:
  23. Aspect ratios including 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, and 1:1. Limited to 29.97P for U.S and 25P for 50Hz shooting. Shooters have the ability to shoot in Cine Picture profiles with full-manual controls. No 23.98 or 24P in PhotoMode. The 1:1 aspect ratio with a 2x anamorphic is a native 16:9. Internal recording at 100 Mb/s. HDMI output is still enabled! Might be a huge advantage to shoot anamorphic with a ShoGun after all! Will the GH4 embed the 1:1, 3:2, and 4:3 in a 3840x2160? I'm noticing a completely different grain structure in PhotoMode... Shot a 16x9 in 3840x2160 in Movie Mode and a 16x9 at 3840x2160 in PhotoMode and the grain texture in PhotoMode shows signs of compression artifacts not found on professional video or film cameras. Sorry. It's almost as if the sensor is acting differently. It's possible to notice the grain-structure change in 10x LiveView. The codec already has issues with recording in low-light, as seen by Dave Dugdale's GH4 vs. A7S demonstration (Dave's video mentions how a white background in low-light causes strange codec issues... I'm in a similar circumstance and it's helping to distinguish the new noise-floor patterns). This new grain texture appears to be present at ISO 320 and above. The white backdrop is close to 35 - 45% luminance values and not 80 - 95%). Needs more testing and proper lighting. Also, I'm under a 5200k CFL and not a professional non-strobing video light. However, this may be distinguishable in future tests with proper lighting and at low ISO values. Keep an eye out for it. Other info about 2.0 firmware... - - No new Gamma Picture profile. - - No 23.98 in 4096x2160.
  24. Testing out the new Metabones Speedbooster Canon EF -> m43. Really loving it, and working with Sigma ART lenses it just sings! I really want that shallow depth of field look, and it works a treat. Of course it's really hard to focus at F1, worse using a vari-ND filter too (vignette and darkening of the corners at the highest setting). Paired with the SLR Magic Anamorphot it has a great look!
