The Panasonics use Sony sensors so even if this is true its not the end of the world. I would still take the S5 over any Sony camera any day so if the R3 has a Sony sensor it would make for interesting table talk but the image quality should still be able to stand on its own.
Why would Panasonic not use the 24 Megapixel Full Frame Sensor they developed, build and even sell to others.
Beside that, Sony doesn't produce/sell any sensors with the specs of the S1/S1H/S1R/S5, but Panasonic does.
This just sounds extremely strange... i assume that Panasonic does not waste money by developing such an sensor and then not use it but buy Sonys.
Who would still buy the Sensor from Panasonic if they don't use it themselves. That would pretty much kill their sensor business
