The rear LCD is fucked so be my guest and I'll claim it on the insurance !
Being a purist, not being able to chimp with it doesn't bother me and just adds to the retro experience. If I was a completist, I'd probably send the SD card off to someone and wait a week for them to send it me back before I could look at the images 😉

    That’s very sad news.
I’ve watched many of his YouTubes.

David Thorpe passed away on May 25th. For those that aren't familiar, David was a huge proponent of M43 and shared his love of photography on his blog and YouTube channel.
A message from his family can be read in the description of this video:
His channel is well worth checking out. He was a very thoughtful reviewer.
    His blog is also excellent:

I tried this with the X-T4 and found that 10bit was more noticeably better when there was more different colours in the frame. So, blue skies, green grass, orange/pink people etc.

They're being overly ambitious with the X-H2 when really all they needed was the X-T4 in the X-H1 body. Does the consumer really want even more bells and whistles and a much bigger body? 4k 60p at 10bit is already stellar.

Maybe the dopamine hits of social media are to blame?
Is there a point anymore for a young twenty-year-old Herzog circa 2021 to beg, scrape, and steal to make a film?  When you can just make a tik-tok?  Get a million followers.  Move on?
Maybe social media takes away precious free-time that you need to concentrate to come up with, as David Lynch says, "catching the big fish?"
Or maybe the social anxiety of life pre-Covid - the mental-health insanity of it all - left little time to be happy and creative?
Or maybe with the movie theatres all about to die and the rise of netflix and movies being "content" as Scorsese calls it - maybe that has sapped everything that forces someone to work so hard to make their own feature.
For me I was born in 1981, and movies were the only thing I knew up even past college in 2003 when I could have started a filmmaking career. Netflix was just a mail-order DVD service. There was no social media yet, except maybe Friendster.
Now nearly twenty years later - what do young people who want to say things do?  Do they have that precious time to be creative?
Especially now when in 2021 young people graduate with hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt vs the 1970s when young people had barely any debt and could have a decent life and buy a home with little money and had room to wander and explore?

Welcome to the world of woke cancel culture.  You can't take risks anymore.  Can't offend people.  Can't say un-PC things. It already destroyed comedy, especially stand-up acts.  Used to be college campuses were where this thrived.  Now it's shunned.  Maybe we'll be able to laugh at ourselves again in another 50 years.

I love trade shows because it provides a timeline for companies to announce, ship, and demonstrate products.
I love trade show because I can meet the engineers behind products and often the owners of small companies and start or reinforce business relationships.
I love trade shows because it is a time to network and gather with industry friends old and new.
I love trade shows because anyone can blog about a cool new product that I might not otherwise be aware of.
Large companies hate trade shows because they are an expensive budget line items that do not provide as much of a return on investment as compared to other marking activities.
Large companies hate trade shows because they do not always naturally align with product cycles, which cause inefficiency in product realization, release schedules and product marketing or worse it may mean there is nothing new to show or announce.
Large companies hate trade shows because they have a buy a booth that is large enough to compare with their competitors who also have to have to spend lot on a large booth to look equally well established and successful and also they have to sponsors different trade show related events, signage, panels, mixers etc. even more ways to get even more money from large companies who don't necessary want to be there in the first place.
Small startup companies love trade shows because they can release/show a new product and make as much noise as a large company for a fraction of the cost.
I understand why, if all of the large companies of an industry get together and collectively decide that they are not going to be the anchor tenets of a specific trade show, that they were, for many years forced to attend/sponsor and now they have an excuse (COVID) not to attend/sponsor and don't want to commit to attend in the future, why some of the trade shows I love and they hate are going to go away.

They're fantastic. AF works great. Image quality is great. The 23 even has a slight rainbow flare at f1.4 which is a nice characteristic. My only grip is that they don't look great and the aperture ring isn't clicked, so I end up moving it a lot by mistake, although that's less likely to happen now that I can control the aperture with the front dial.

RogerRabbit got a reaction from Mark Romero 2 in Does an APS-C Crop on a FF Sensor Increase Background Compression?
It's a common misconception that focal length or crop affects compression. If that were the case then smartphones and other small sensor cameras which have miniscule focal length lenses would have super distorted images, but they don't. The only thing that affects compression is your distance to subject. Wider focal lengths just mean a wider FOV, which will reveal more distortion, particularly when close to the subject.

RogerRabbit got a reaction from Matias Mayolo in Fuji GFX 100 loses to Huawei P40 Pro Plus smartphone for dynamic range
Not sure if the GFX 100 has it but the X-T4 has a HDR mode which basically does what phones do in merging different exposures together with a single shutter press. It's super handy and gives superb results. Also gives more dynamic range than my Samsung S10
