Sorry to quote you again, but there's a new test build with complete realtime preview, non-cropped for 5k modes now. I just shot 2 minutes of 16:9 12bit raw without any dropped frames. I could see my framing perfectly as though I was using a native camera mode... almost.
There's currently some scattered lines at the bottom of the LCD screen. It's not distracting, and they're working on it. but seriously, I would advise you to use this build. I just used the 5k anamorphic 16:9 frtp preset and laughed at how good it was.
Dealing with a broken ribbon cable and smudge on the sensor at the moment. I'll look at it again another time.

Picked one up to see what ML is about, and I find using ML on the EOS M incredibly underwhelming (thus far). Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, but shooting 2.5k and up RAW without a proper non-lagging full liveview doesn't appeal to me at all.

Haha, you are both realistic and a dreamer. I don't have any hope that I will ever get waranty on my R5, surely it must list somewhere in its recorded status the number of irregular shutdowns, my R5 has already had hundreds of those. They will blame anything and everything on me abusing the R5. So indeed, I agree waranty (already) voided. Dream on, thinking that Canon should [or will] offer us a permanent fix....
In 15 years of digital photography and having owned more than 20 digital camera's only one camera ever had problems, my Nikon D750. They replaced the mirror assembly and shutter unit with 180.000 clicks, replaced the front side because of non-alignment, free of charge, I was expecting to pay 500 Euros.
Are you planning to open the thing up?

Canon deserves a good hammering in court.

It's probably going to take a lawsuit for them to open up.

Are there any Canon engineers with dignity? Why not tell the public (anonymously) like it is?
-
Back to the assembly line I guess?

Are these temperatures from the image sensor? If so, opening up the device and measuring the CPU temp. yourself would probably be the quickest way to conclude the testing. This might help you or others with putting up a legal case against Canon.

Canon have thus far failed to publicly address any of the issues other than release the crippled time specs at launch. Their handling of this has been appaling.
A Canon press release about the shutdown mechanism and its necessity to avoid harm wouldn't suprise me at all.

If you're going to test for a possible timer, try focusing on the shutdown, not the recovery.

It's a $4000 product for crying out loud. Problems like these get addressed during the initial stages of electrical design, and if they don't testing does.
