If this camera has PDAF it has a chance in the consumer market. If not then it will be a hard sell I think.

Then there are some like Brandon Li that make their living with one or two cameras on gimbals with heavy use of AF. To each their own. I would rather have AF and hit the MF switch when I want to.

I'm in the exact same boat as you. I bought a Sony a6400 last year to try and make my workflow easier with autofocus (I shoot 80% documentaries). It was so nice 95% of the time, but it always failed me when the shot mattered the most!  Just bad luck I guess. Also the footage from it just looks dull to my eye, lacking in colour and lots of noise reduction above ISO 4000 or so making it really plasticky.
With my S1H and GH5s, I am always blown away when I see the footage on my computer after a day of filming.  It always looks way better than what I saw on the LCD/viewfinder making the overall shooting experience fun for me. These cameras will keep me satisfied for years upon years. No more GAS for me! ...(hopefully).

My wife doesn't want her face posted, but here is just an example of some skin tones under a terrible fluorescent light (white balanced) before/after a beginner blueish/green horror movie type grade. No keys or masks were used by the way, just white balance and tint changes.

I'm not at home right now so I'll try to remember to upload later.

For shooting, I white balance manually and I shoot ETTR with enough head room for a stop or so in the highlights.  When colour grading in premiere, this makes me have to bring down the exposure tab in the Prores Raw settings to about -2.5 or so to get my highlights under the clipping point. I add/remove some saturation. Then, I use the secondary colour wheels (I think that's what they are called) to adjust the shadows, mid tones, and highlights. If there isn't enough contrast, I adjust the curve or simply use the contrast slider in the primary lumetri tab (I'm very bad with using the curve with more than 2 points).  Then, I adjust the colour wheels to the colours I want (example being purple shadows, yellow highlights). After all of this, with the 12 bit codec I've been pleasantly surprised that the skin tones stay in tact quite well! It feels like as a beginner I'm at more ease to try more creative looks without ruining my image. Although an expert can make 10-bit (or even 8 bit) look better than my 12-bit no problem.

Here's a very boring test shot of my kitchen at ISO 12800, Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 @ f/2.8 (ungraded). The light is coming in from another room and was quite dark to the eye. If you zoom into the image there is definitely noise, but it's totally usable even without noise reduction added.

I have long been waiting for a solid mirrorless release from Canon. And was hoping maybe Sony would get their act together with colors and IQ. Looks like neither will happen for another 3-4 years. The Sony A7sIII specs are pretty much perfect, IMO - focusing on great 4k and great frame rates and not worried about 6k and 8k. But from what footage I've seen, zombie skin tones seem to persist. And the R5, though tempting, just seems too unreliable.
So, after using Panasonic as my stopgap for almost 4 years now (GH5, S1, and now S1H), I think it's just time to admit that I'm a Panasonic Man. Once those f1.8 primes come out, Sigma releases more compact primes, and they release a smaller (500-600 gram) full-frame camera I can use for stills, then it will have everything I need.
Panasonic just makes the most reliable and robust cameras with all the specs you need and have leapfrogged Canon in color and IQ with the S1 and S1H. Sure, having great AF is helpful sometimes, but it has failed me enough with the C200 and EOS R that I would never trust it on a professional shoot.
Looking forward to just being happy with the S1H (especially now with 6k and 4k ProRes Raw!) for the next 2-3 years.

I feel your comments so much. I'm always looking for new technology that could help me when I shoot. I'm so into new gear, new releases, new AF tech, etc.
But after looking at all that I often take a step back, then open my eyes on what gear I have.
And when I look at the Panasonic S1H, i really feel that Panasonic was the only one to give us everything we wanted. A true professional workhorse. As i am writing this message i'm on my way home from 2 shooting days. The Panasonic never disappointed once. Not only in the last 2 days but since I've purchased it late February for a bargain price. I'm really happy with it, it has everything that I want although i'd love to have a better AF.
But as you said, once Panasonic releases its 3 f1. 8 primes by autumn, i will be all good.
I will buy another underappreciated camera to use those primes too : Sigma FP.
    It's basically a Blackmagic Pocket 4k FF.
    I'm so happy with my S1H! 👍🏽

I've been messing around with it for the past two days. My findings: (of course do your own tests too if possible)

+ Sharpest/most detailed image I've ever filmed on any camera before
+ Easier for me to get a colour grade as a beginner that I'm satisfied with than when shooting V-Log
+ Edits easily on my mid tier gaming PC (i7-8700k + GTX1060) with Premiere Pro
+ ISO 12800 with enough light looked better than expected. This needs further testing for sure.
    - Higher data rate than initially expecting, this means I will still shoot mostly internal probably
    - In 5.9K mode only I experience choppy frame rates on the Ninja V sometimes. A quick swap to 4K and back returns this to normal. I imagine this will be fixed in the final released firmware.
