No, the Z6 does not capture more details than Sony A7III. The Z6 has a strong AA filter that decreases details.

Also No, the Z6 does not have better dynamic range than Sony A7III. We will wait and see the RAW output, but for now, its still not better.

It rather looks like a too weak AA filter to me (lots of Moiré). Can this be fixed in firmware?

Interesting, If they add 10bit internal recording and release it before Black Friday, I am all in :) 4k60p is missing though.

More like others are still trying to catch up while Sony is in a very comfortable lead with high profit margin on their cameras, 4K60P is not important for majority (99%?) of user tbh, sales have proven that 4K30p is enough for most user, no point to add extra cost (R&D, material, size) for heat related stuff on 4K60P.

Anyway I do miss Samsung, they definitely give Japanese manufacturer some whoop ass.

I'd argue with that: why do we need fullHD@60-120Hz then? Computer power nowadays is hardly an excuse.

  3. First post on the Forum, nice to meet everyone:).

I would like to step into the FF videography world, currently looking at the Sony a7 III and the Nikon z6. Watched a few comparisons on youtube but the latter is not the best way to get an impression thanks to its heavy compression.

    My preferences:

    - Good focus tracking (hence no Panasonic, sorry...)

    - Top image quality at high iso: supersampling of the entire sensor

    - Good color profiles, log

    Questions:

    1. I do see some artifacts (Moiré) on Nikon's sample (Dpreview link), can these arise from oversharpening?

    2. N-log is unfortunately not available for internal recording like Sony's slog. Does the 3rd party "z-log" provide an equally good way to extend the dynamic range? (i.e. record information from previously omitted bits)

    3. Is the bandwidth difference (144 vs 100Mbps) significant in case of Nikon vs Sony? (I know all codecs are cooked differently...)
