My advice to everyone is: never record with anything you can't constantly monitor with headphones. I broke this cardinal rule of location recording on a very important shoot recently. I was shooting a dinner for a doco I'm working on solo; it was quite dark and my eyesight isn't as good as it used to be, and I accidentally switched the input on my mixpre-d to AES/EBU (digital input). I lost some important dialogue before I noticed my error.

I've filmed 5 shoots up to around 3 hours each with up to 4 wireless go's on each, maximum distance around 5-6 metres, no dropouts.

$1500 sounds good to me. It really depends on how good it is in terms of color, rolling shutter, AF, aliasing, high ISO noise, and dynamic range. I already have a camera that's great in most of those areas, the Pocket 4K, but DPAF would really enhance my setup, and I'd rather shoot without speed boosters. The Sigma FP sounds like what the 5D mkiV and EOS R should've been. After the Mk3, most filmmakers went for a Sony, Blackmagic, GH5, or stuck with the Mk3 with Magic Lantern. The thing that turned me off the MkIV and R the most wasn't the crop, it was the hideous rolling shutter, and no raw.

Blackmagic is not a huge company.  Not even close.
    Panasonic has 273,358 employees.
    Canon has 197,673 employees.
    Sony has 117,300 employees.
    Fujifilm has 79,000 employees.
    Nikon has 25,729 employees.
    Blackmagic has 372 employees.

Don't waste your time with LPE6 batteries, Canon or otherwise. 20 minute run-time just isn't worth the hassle, nor the embarrassment. Get some Sony NP-F970 clones and one of these https://www.ebay.com/itm/Full-Decoded-LP-E6-Dummy-Battery-NP-F970-770-Mount-Plate-Adapter-for-Canon-TK/202760180667?hash=item2f3572d3bb:g:HV4AAOSwvpVci7MT
You can mount it to the 1/4" hole on top of the P4K, or onto a shoulder rig with a rail mount like I do. You'll get 1.5 to 2 hours run-time per battery, and they cost about the same as a Canon clone.

This Lut fixes the brown tint, gamut clipping, roll-off issues, skin etc. and is made to look similar to RED IPP2 Soft Rec709 conversion - a conversion Lut to RedWideGamut/RedLog3G10 for a native IPP2 workflow is also provided.
Can't wait to hold the Pocket 6K in my own hands - seems like it's more color accurate.

The A7sIII could be interesting if Sony gets the color science right and it has some form of raw, it may even have a global shutter. There's rumors of pro-spec Sony and Nikon APS-C bodies.

I have no interest in the P6K. The problem I've found with speed boosters is they sometimes need fine backfocus adjust for individual lenses. I'm using a $180 Vilrox adapter and getting very good results once it's dialed in properly, so I'm going to get a couple more. For $540 extra, my P4K is just as capable as the P6K. For the cost of a P6K I'm looking for features like DPAF in particular, that's why I have my eye on the Sigma FP and upcoming Sony and Nikon models. Just hoping Apple whoops ? and  frees internal raw for the masses.

No, you're not. This thread reminded that I needed to retweet a message from a guy who has been locked up in an Australian government concentration camp for the past 6 years due to the color of his skin. If toxic masculinity in the nuclear age doesn't finish us off fast, climate change will do us slowly (not that slowly). The sociopathy of greedy rich men and their worshipers is one hell of a doomsday device. RED and its fanboys are the least of our problems, but it's all relative.

Remember that time Andrew dissed Blackmagic, and the Blackmagic fanboys said "Blackmagic needs to take this guy down"? Na, me neither.
    It's definitely not a cult. ?

Animosity towards RED management and the RED community is nothing new, it's been going on since Moses was a boy. A lot of it stems from the actions of said people. Filmmakers have a right to be upset about a patent that may or may not be valid, and is certainly something that many in the film community don't believe should exist. it may be legal to deny the struggling indie filmmaker access to internal raw recording, but it certainly isn't cool. It pays to remember we live and work in a community where one day you can be sleeping in your car, and the next you're making Hollywood features (James Cameron). If that turns out to be me, I know what cameras I won't be shooting with.

So much for me trying to hide. Looks like they have found me out...

At the time, I don't think appreciated my Redpress / Wordpress joke either.

I thought it was quite a funny satire but I was wrong. It was in fact "EXHIBIT A" in a trial.
JIM JAMMARD was very upset being bullied this way by the mighty Andrew Reid. It caused him enormous emotional distress. Redpress literally caused the billionaire in Orange Country MENTAL ANGUISH.

Now, where did I put that spare $75,000?
