I notice nearly every pixel of a 1080p image on a laptop, sat close to it, and same image at cinema sat way back looks like an 8K film scan

Can't wait for this. Let's hope they make one for L-mount as well ?

The footage looks great and can only look better with RAW. I agree about some of the editing choice as they could have had less shots play out to tell the story. Less is more in this case. Some shots didn't make sense at all. It was a good watch.

Default Sharpness on Nikon is very high and needs to be turned down out of the box for video. 

One thing that no one has mentioned is the Mid-range sharpening setting on the Z series. Turning it down a little bit softens skin and an create a more creamy look. 
I tested the camera before the upgrade and it fell short of my D750 for AF, the new firmware brings it on par with that camera. Good enough for me!

Well I am sort of out of the loop now as they say, but I have talked to a few people in the local TV industry as of late and for Broadcast they have not given up on ENG cameras. Now they have went to some smaller ones, by that like 12, to 14  pound ones instead of the old 20, to 22 pound ones. I think a lot of it is better, lighter batteries for one, and miniaturization of electronic components. Now that is for 2 person interviews. The typical cameraman and a reporter with a mike in hand. On the solo reporting, getting more common, only have to pay one person, they have went to the really small camcorders, Sony JVC, Panasonic all make them, they are called ENG but they are not shoulder mount useful, tripod or hand held mostly. using 3, 1/3 CCDs in them, some maybe 1/2" and they are like 6 to 8 pounds, and cost like 4 to 8 thousand dollars.
At local Pro sporting events around here, Baseball, Football, Soccer they are using the smaller ENG cameras, on field and off, and on the side lines they, the teams, use the small camcorders mostly. At all the big name sports stuff they still use the huge ENG camera bodies with Box 75x or better lenses on them.
Broadcast Has to use the 3 CCD sensor cameras to get true 3 color separation, 4.4.4.4 is critical for all the equipment to be close to as perfect as they can get them. You don't want people to see different colors day to day and think their TV is screwy lol. And you don't want the reporters and news crew to look like aliens either. I just don't see 3 CCD cameras going away anytime soon in Broadcast. Now true some, well a lot lately are smaller sensors now, but 3 of them none the less.
But I have heard of some Newspaper reporters now using Smartphones here in the USA. But they don't requires the resolution in a newspaper spread like a TV station needs. But it probably is coming down the road. Smartphones are advancing at a rapid pace. Faster than real cameras are.

Why? 
Two different bodies means it's not a hybrid and they can do video and stills really well. The super fast A9 does great looking video, etc, etc. 
The day it happened and Canon introduced good video in a DSLR it was all over. We can't go back.

I thought I read or heard Only 4K 30p 4.2.2 10bit internal? So many new cameras, hard to keep up with them.

They did something very similar to this with the GH5 launch. Had a first look with limited information in late 2016 then had a more complete unveiling in early 2017 and released very shortly thereafter. The difference is that back then all we were expected is an update to the GH4. This S1H release seems to have way more at stake with a much more crowded field of competitors.

The GH5 is not outdated if we didn't have the S1H.  The S1H is the GH6 in FF and the GH5 users are the biggest complainers. 

I speak from more then a few people on the EOS that you are what we call a dickhead.

You said the GH5 was overpriced on release. That is just silly. It's $2000 price tag for what you got was a bargain two years ago. It wasn't overpriced at all on release. 
That it's $1500 now is a sign that the gap between it and the cameras that have come out since has narrowed, not that it was overpriced on release. It's a much more competitive market now than it was then, and things are moving faster than ever. It's also probably a sign that the GH6 is coming sooner rather than later. 
They've raised the bar with the S1H, for sure. Whether it's successful or not, everyone else is going to need to come close to matching it. That might not be an easy task for Sony. 

The S1 always has eyeAF and animal AF with retail FW. Still has it with the latest FW 1.1
I'm not sure where you are from but in the US, you get free battery and grip when you pre-ordered ($430 value), 3 years extended warranty, and free VLOG FW update ($200). Current promotion is free MC-21 EF-L adapter and free VLOG update. I got the camera for $2250 via GreenToe, sold the grip, and got the price down to $2000.
I bought Canon 5D IV and EOS R and I have never receive any free accesories, VLOG upgrade or 3 years extended warranty. I also ordered A7III for a friend with my edu discount. It doesn't even include a wall charger or additional accessories of value.

No one is afraid of the ghost A7SIII that doesn't exist.
Panasonic wanted to get the specs out in some form and let people know what's coming. Other companies have done this its just we don't all have butt love for Sony like others do.
The Lumix S1 is $2,497 just to be clear. You said $2,000 and that's not correct ( the firmware upgrade might be $2,000).......... No it's not all rainbow and lollypops on the EOS with false info. Carry on.
We get better upgraded technology on the S1H and all you do is complain.....smh

The P4K beats the GH5 all day long for $1,295
No one has beat the GH5 except the Z6, S1 and these are FF cameras. Who was suppose to beat the m4/3 GH5? The only other m4/3 company beat them. All other were FF cameras or getting into FF. 
Camera companies stick to the $1,000, $1,500 and $2,000 price points year after year and decade after decade. And in the GH5 all your talking is specs only. The 4K 60p  on the Gh5 is not great compared too cine cameras or the P4K?  It seems people get caught up in the "I spent $2,000 and got 4K 60p " and expect that to be good 4K 60p .  
If it was really good 4K 60p then no need for the S1 or S1H. The 4K 60p out of the S1H will be cine quality and is truly bridging the gap.

First it was Nikon Z6 that was smashed to bits and now the Lumix S1H is basically destroyed by you people. Even the United States and prices came into play on this thread. 
The proof is in the footage and how it captures that data and WE ALL SHOULD KNOW THIS BY NOW. We all rent or have rented the RED or C200 and do this for a reason. Some of you do influence people on what cameras they should look at and what cameras produce the best video quality. Sadly it seems very hard to get honest information that come from years or hard work and experience. It's just a beat up the latest brand that's not Sony and let that band fall apart.
Why? No one on here has used the S1H and all this talk about it being crap and failing is pathetic. Let's talk gear and about the craft we work in because that's why we joined this group.
I haven't searched this forum for anyone or any behavior that wasn't present by your post and others that aggressively have hate and distain for America. The same kind of hate caries over the how you and they comment towards companies they want to fail. 
As far as my grandfather goes and his service to this country I would say that speaks for itself and other that have done the same and made sacrifices for this country. 
The S1H and this marketing push followed what Panasonic did with the S1 and S1R and even the EVA-1, so that in itself doesn't deserve the hate driven comments some people are making. Panasonic also uses the in-between period to finalize spec and listen to what the market wants. 
I don't blame Panasonic for wanting to be the first to announce a 6K hybrid camera and beat Sony at the same game everyone plays.

You absolutely come off as the girl in your comments about "2 S1 bodies, 2 firmware upgrades, 1 24-105 f/4, 1 extra camera battery, 1 S1 battery grip. Retail total $7123. My total $5044!" or you come off as a braggart.  
I never mentioned the EOS R in a positive light ever. I also never said one negative thing about the S1 or S1H, ever.  I'm all for progressing technology that helps everyone. 
I've never understood braggers that have to post about how much they spent on gear, good for you but no one cares about braggers. What's the crow I'm suppose to be eating?
