Avenger 2.0 got a reaction from PannySVHS in Camera owning plans 2021
Said to myself I wasn't going to buy any new gear in 2021, but couldn't resist on a cheap original Canon C100 yesterday 😀

Avenger 2.0 got a reaction from IronFilm in Sony PMW-F3 with 2500 hours on it. Should I buy it?
Too bad prices nearly doubled for the Sony PMW-F3 now.

2017 called at they want there camera back!
This is so meh for the price. I get that there could be some good engineering to make it a bit smaller. If bloggers and autofocus was the play, from what I have seen so far it's not that great.
What ever happened to the RX1?

If it can't move, it can't break (in warranty)?

Avenger 2.0 reacted to hyalinejim in Magic Lantern 3.3k 16:9 RAW now with real time preview
https://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=23041.msg216899#msg216899
Background: user TheBilalFakhouri has unlocked correctly framed real time preview for EOS M and Danne has ported it to 5D3. Previously, Magic Lantern high res modes had a preview image that had either correct framing but in unusably slow frame rate black and white or real time colour preview with wrong framing.
Now, however there is high res, real time preview with correct framing.
Kind of fun to try if you already own one of the supported cams 😁

Avenger 2.0 reacted to noone in Panasonic in trouble?
Sooner or later EVERYONE is in trouble I think.
I just got an old Australian photography magazine from Feb 1988
I opened it to a random page and it was
"Video news" The three stories listed....
Sanyo Vision-8, 8mm camcorder
VHS-C- The future of video cameras
Polaroid aims to be Number one.

Avenger 2.0 reacted to danieleciraolo in Canon EOS R5 / R6 overheating timers, workarounds, and Magic Lantern
Today I shot all morning in a wine cellar .. with temperatures around 12 degrees ... surely they changed something since I always shot at 100 frame takes of 2/3 minutes and when I stopped it always gave me the maximum time (7 min and 30 sec). No time offer available. So I implemented the temperature control on the new firmware ... I modified mine that I withdrew yesterday from the cps in addition to replacing the circuit that controls the power supply that was gone

Probably to box you into using RF lenses, and larger PL adapters won't fit. Cripple hammer time!

Suggestion to Canon: try a business model such as Tesla runs it: Sell product at a base price. If the buyer wants higher reach, he has to unlock it by paying for it.
So for another 500 squid you get 10 minutes more recording time.
Or 10 USD /Euro /Pounds for instant recovery.

Avenger 2.0 got a reaction from Juank in My Canon EOS R5 recording 8K video 50 minutes straight
Since you can't download version 1.0, it's not possible to downgrade. Once 1.2 arrives, we will know if downgrade (to 1.1) is still possible. But I guess they can always block it if they really want to. Biggest danger is if they ever disable or protect the UART port on the camera. If they do, there is no peaking inside.

I guess almost the same chipset of the R5 is going to be used in other higher end models (R1?) and some cinema camera's. Seeing how protective Canon now is, I'm not sure I'm willing to invest in RF glass and be stuck with Canon. At least with the EF glass, you can use Sony, Panasonic, Blackmagic, etc camera's.

Someone suggested that the overheat icon should be changed with a middle finger on a future firmware... I love this idea!🖕

Avenger 2.0 reacted to John Matthews in Canon EOS R5 so-called overheat timer defeated by a single screw in battery door
News just in:
Canon is currently finding ways to create loops and bugs in R5's firmware to properly overheat at 20 minutes... code to keep running for two hours after. They've terminated the employment of the engineer responsible for choosing a heat-efficient, modern processor, allowing the R5's limitations to be bypassed.
A spokeswoman for the company released this statement:
"We deeply regret that some renegade customers have (illegally?) hacked the R5's abilities to record 8k footage and its limitations of a 20 minute recording every 2 hours. These customers are not in compliance with the user agreement and risk a non-functional device. We have addressed the problem and corrected the R5's firmware to perform as advertised."
Unofficially, the companies spokeswoman, categorically criticized EOSHD.com for their lack of believing the R5's specifications at the time of release, despite Canon's best marketing efforts in the matter.

Avenger 2.0 reacted to BenEricson in c100 mkii vs BMPCC (4k or 6k)
It really depends what you're shooting. For run and gun / quick setup, the C series cameras are hard to beat.
You might want to consider a used C300 Mk2. The prices have really dropped and the images from those cameras are absolutely beautiful and very easy to use like the C100 mk2. You'd feel right at home.

Avenger 2.0 reacted to Andrew Reid in My Canon EOS R5 recording 8K video 50 minutes straight
Hurray at least. This is the important thing, that it gets out there and prompts Canon to rescue the situation as they should
And that it gets out there credited to the right people, unlike with TONEH, even better.
Never under estimate the power of embarrassment!
Firmware update in T minus 10,9,8...

They barely even spoke of stills during the promotion of the R5 so no that isn't sufficient. They sold us video.

Daniel I agree 100%
We are customers at the end of the day and deserve some respect and to be levelled with in an honest way!!
It really drives me up the wall, the fact that I can break all this news on the blog and in Canon's eyes - I AM the villain right?!!? ME! The guy who said Canon had finally turned a corner, rushed out to give them my hard earned £4200 only to find all my worst suspicious were true.
The fact they have not apologised to me or to customers like you after all this investment is a DISGRACE.
If a class action happens I would support it 1000%
I cannot believe the depth of stupidity at the senior management level in Japan.
Why do they feel it is ok to release a product with an "official overheating problem" let alone an artificial one?!
It would be industrial level sabotage if it wasn't so self inflicted.
I cannot believe how slow they have been to respond with an apology and promise to investigate and fix the firmware.
They are actually standing their ground on this?? WHY?
Out of fear they might lose a few sales in a niche business division that deals with expensive camcorders?
The EOS business is surely bigger and should be pulling the strings, not the other way round.

Don't forget they will recycle this processor and sensor until at least 2030. So over the course of 10 years they will slightly uncripple it 🤣

Maybe Canon will sell one time overheating timer reset voucher codes in the future 😂

Avenger 2.0 reacted to Andrew Reid in Removing internal battery resets EOS R5 overheat timer
Let's be honest, these stupid workarounds are not practical on set.
It is up to Canon to fix the damn camera, not us.
We paid the money, and not a small amount.
Unscrewing the back, prodding the card door sensor, ripping the clock battery out... None of it is acceptable for $4000
