Maybe stupid question, but what if you use a cheap (uncoated) UV filter on the lens instead? Will this not give flares without ruining your lens?

If you already own a workhorse 5D IV and need a second one for like doing a wedding (backup or second shooter), it makes sense to rent the same as you have.

If you are serious about video you should learn Davinci Resolve. Otherwise free Windows Movie Maker for basic stuff if you want no real learning curve. Used myself PowerDirector in the past (small learning curve), but cannot recommand it now as it is moving towards subscription like Adobe...

ProRes was made to be easy on CPU/GPU, so not sure hardware accelerated support will give any advantage. For h264 and h265 hardware accelerated support will give significant advantage.

Notice how they have turned the screen inwards on the GH5II to hide the only meaningful size difference.

To see if there is a cheaper solution than the CFexpress card type B for the Canon EOS R5, I bought the CFexpress To SSD Converter from Zitay.
And a separate 2TB Samsung 980 Pro PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD drive.
In total, it is still much cheaper then, for example, a Sony Tough 512 GB CFexpress card (For me 6.2 times in terms of storage capacity).
Now I can shoot 8K RAW footage up to the time limit of 29:59 minutes without getting an overheating warning!
