Are you planning to / could you ask them about stepping aperture? It's be great to have a smoother transition on native lenses.

lol no offense taken. I understand. I’ve texted this myself and statistically I get higher click through rate when my face is on the thumbnail as well as when there is a more intense expression. It doesnt translate well here because the image is so large... but on a youtube home feed it can help make your video stand out.
Correct it works. I’m sorry you hate it. YouTube is filled with a bunch of adhd tweens who just click on the first shiny thing they see.
Ya it really is. It gives you a lot of extra flexibility for a marginal difference in price.

Don't want to sound like a dick but what's with the picture covers on youtube? Everybody does the same thing. Funny face and the product smashed in front of it. Is there an agreement on this or just an established trend?

I took the question more literally.
Projected virtual sets make for a near perfect visual product.

My next move is to put a VR headset on my camera to rotate my green screen set when my camera pans and tilts 😉 ... does this already exist in the form of capturing gyroscopic data as it relates to the camera position (like steady xp) and then be being able to drive the rotation/pan and tilt of a 360 degree video or virtual rendered set in computer.  I have not done the research. Someone please school me on this topic if you know about it. Thanks!

And here I am, in my early twenties - so I'm technically a millennial / Generation Y - with my my strong preference towards written word.
I deeply hate the fact that people nowadays tend to turn their blogs into vlogs, etc.
For me, having to go to YouTube for a piece of information that could be put clearly in two or three sentences is one of the plagues of 21st century.
I understand that our hobby - cameras and stuff related to them - is a visual hobby and words can't always be used to show what we mean or to share what we managed to create using our babies.
Nonetheless, I think that over 30% of YouTube content could easily be transcribed and deprived of audio-visual stimuli and we, as viewers, would only gain from it.
It's just terribly tiring, how much shit, unneeded clutter there is to almost everything.
You could say that you save your time, because there are no ads per se, but the amount of in-video marketing and advertising, etc. is terrifying.

But still, not every channel is like this and, surely, there are some that are really worth being subscribed to.
The amount of knowledge that can be found on YT (if you know what you're looking for) is invaluable and often can't be put into words that easily.

It's a tough nut to crack.

1/4000 would be typical in mid-day sun.  I'll shoot some video tomorrow and apply the trial plug-in.  See what happens.
Usually have a bunch of ravens flying around....filming that should provide a decent stress test.

I know it would work.  My question is if the motion tracking uses the extra frames for motion estimation or if they get thrown away before the tracker is applied.
The reason I care about this is I recall the demo from Lok where he did star jumps, and at 25p there was a frame where his arm was sloped down, next frame they were about level, next frame was more than 45 degrees up, next one was vertical.
In that example, would the motion estimation pick up that his arm is moving very quickly?  or would it just think that there are several unrelated objects appearing and disappearing?   If it was filmed in 120fps then there would be 5 times as many frames and the fact it's one object that's moving would be obvious to the motion tracking.
They all look quite similar to me, but the difference between 24 and 120p isn't that much as both of them appear to have approx a 45-90degree shutter.  If you compare the size of the blur with how far the object moves in the next frame then you'll see that the blur isn't that long in any of these modes.
I know I'm not that sensitive to SS in general, but my impressions of these kinds of tests are that if you have a bit of blur then it mostly looks fine.  It's when you're filming in direct sunlight and the SS is like 1/2000 that the motion effect breaks down and it looks more like a burst of unrelated images, or something moving but somehow moving through a medium that gives it strange sharp textures as it travels.
I guess the whole point of this is to do away with NDs, which would mean that shots would range from being indoor and 360 shutter to being in direct sun and being 1/4000.

    Ah, a little further elaboration...
I use the 16-80 on one body with tripod, ie, static for ceremony & speeches only.
The Sigma 18-35 is on another body and freestanding monopod for more considered work indoors.
The Tamron 45 takes over outdoors and with both of the latter lenses, mostly shooting wide open ie f1.8.
No client has ever mentioned blur, bokeh or any other technical/visual aspect. If they are ever going to want to talk about something, it will be music choices and can they have their Ed Sheeran first dance inserting somewhere 🤯

I'd be interested to see some stress-testing of it, like Lok did on digital rev when he did star-jumps and it really emphasised the effect.  Ultimately it will come down to the motion detection and estimation so it knows what to blur.
In Resolve it would be pretty easy to bake the effect in while converting - just drag all clips to the timeline and then do an export and set it so that all the clips are individually exported.  This workflow would also work if converting from RAW, and would handily be a place to apply LUTs any other things that always get added to your grades.

Oh and from what I have seen and unless I have said this before, the OIS on the 16-80 seems as good as the IBIS in the XT4.
I’d go with the XT4 if I could for all the other benefits but can’t get past the screen.
Still planning on getting one though, but it will be purely for stills as for video for me, the XT3 is a better option.

    I can’t find a better combo.
I would rather the 16-80 was f2.8 but it isn’t.
I would rather the 16-55 had OIS, but it doesn’t.
I wish the Sigma 18-35 had OIS, but that doesn’t either.
I wish the Tamron 45 was a bit smaller and lighter...
Compromise everywhere as there is with all kit, but for my wedding video needs, paired with XT3 (not 4) these I feel are my best options.
I am going to (when work starts back up in 2025) replace my current cheap Gobe variable ND with the Polar Pro, but otherwise the only interesting bit of kit on the radar is Fuji’s own 50mm f1.0. I hope it’s not too big or heavy compared with the Tamron 45, but even if it is, still might consider it if it’s the dogs wotsits for video.
Generally though, I think other than the MK’s (too unwieldy and no AF so not for me) Fuji’s lens options for video is not the best but other stuff with the Fringer works really well.

I certainly remember XH1 had this very issue on launch and it was commented on a lot. I read a firmware update fixed it but I dunno for sure.
    So maybe there is hope..

I see. Certainly seems like a bug to me. Well mine arrives on Wednesday and I'll see if there's a way to shoot with it that doesn't provoke it. The rotating type of shot above certainly doesn't seem to be handled with any kind of finesse.
But it is V1.0 firmware, so I am sure it is fixable. Fuji are very responsive when it comes to these things.
I still have the X-H1 and will see if that also exhibits the behaviour.
Clearly not going to hurt every shot... But those rotations, it seems like the camera wants to catch up or over-compensate... Possibly what I think is going on, is that the sensor is moving on the X axis slowly along to try and resist the rotation, and then when it runs out of room, resets itself to the middle and then starts again.
Anyway, we'll see what Fuji has to say. I'm sending this to my contacts there.

I don't expect gimbal results, i don't even expect GH5 results. I expect a sensor that isn't jumping around for no good reason.
For sure, knocking a camera around will introduce jumps in the very best of sensor stabilization units. But doing smooth movements like i did should yield better results.
