  1. The 70mm for m43 Is like 140mm for ff

    Check with a 35mm.

    and 2.8 ff becomes 5.6 for m43

If i use mine It goes like This

     First Is ff 70mm 2.8

    second is m43 35mm 1.4

But OP didn't change the subject distance between the cameras, so..

That's my point. framing will not be the same because of crop factor

You need to compare the same dreaming

  3. problem is distance to subject.

if you have a crop then your field of view changes. to have the exact same framing you need to move and then you change the dof

I think Sony is making something that will surprise us ! Venice colour and 10bit the main reason a7riv dint received any video features  i think is due to heat issues the body is to small for that kinda power to proceed

    Someone shed some light please?

    i doubt sony is ready.

with the releases of the bmpcc6k and the S1h if i was sony i would have done some kind of teaser at least to "kill" the attraction of this 2 cameras and have people to wait for the official annoucement of a new cam.

    the didn't move an inch.

but maybe they're terrible at marketing

I'm having a problem where the camera is unresponsive for 10 seconds after the screen comes on... won't record a thing.

    Lost shots due to that.

Maybe the SD card is too slow, but it is a UHS-II one with 150MB/s speeds

Maybe best to use CFast... But damn, with an image this good, it's a shame they did not put it in a better & more reliable camera body!

camera just came out. every camera that is brand new has flaws. future firmware will correct a few bugs i'm sure.

Is it officially listed as compatible with the Fuji you have it plugged into?

If so, buy the cable that works?

come on, if it was compatible i would just have bought the cable.

the cable is from titlta, the only that could have worked according to a tilta representative. well, it didn't.

so i just have to figure out how to connect the wires to have it work but i might have a malfunction that is why i did this post

  7. guys i need your help.

i don't get it. so as the cable i had with the nucleus nano didn't work i went for a cut to try to find what is the right wiring.

when i have the red and black inverted it works, i mean it triggers the cam, but only when i touch the cables. when the cables are tied and i push the rec button on the nucleus wheel nothing happens ?

    don't get it.

any ideas ? guess it has something to do with the power maybe. i even wonder if it is not malfunctionning because when i test it with the voltmeter there is no voltage difference when i push the rec button and i guess something should happen or it should be at 0 when not recording

The S1H does seem like a hell of a good package. $4000 is a lot but not relative to what it offers

I think the S1 is a heck of a good deal at under $2000 used, I'll most likely pick one up asap. Even without VLOG, Cinema 5D measured HLG a whole stop better than my XT3's Flog, which already is pretty good. I'll just throw on my vintage nikon lenses and call it a day.

What would be really cool is if someone makes a focal reducer and I can use medium format lenses.

why don't you compare with xt3 hlg which is better than log ?

This is a nice one, congrats! Love to see the results with a 2x scope on X-T3 (I own myself a Bolex Moller 16/32/1.5x).

I tried 2x with a satec. It was pretty good. Will test this one next week

probably the xpro 3 ? 99% chances it will be aps-c as fuji doesn't seem to be willing to get in the ff market and the xt3 sold pretty well

i am expecting a sankor any days soon. hope fuji will do some for anamorphic users

and there it is, will do a few tests soon

I think you might be forgetting about the indy cinematographers who want full frame, an EVF, a more adaptable lens mount and steady handheld footage

to me full frame is a bit overrated, so many cinema cameras are s35.

you're right about evf, i am thinking about getting the bmpcc6k but i know i will need an evf to go with it as i really don't like framing and filming only with a monitor, i don't feel beeing into it without an evf.

for steady you still can use a gimbal but sure it is less handy

i wonder also if resolve will allow processing the raw from pana, if not then pana will suffer a lot

OK so here's the thing about add-on EVFs. They are all shit. They all need stupid wobbly cables, they all upset the centre of gravity and balance of a mirrorless camera, they all draw attention to you so people know you're shooting video in public and the Permit Krackens swoop, people get upset, etc. They all cost a lot of money and they all take big chunky 1990's style camcorder batteries or hook into an even bigger v-lock brick on your spidery stupid rig, and therefore they are horrible to use, horrible to pack away, horrible to assemble and slow to boot up. Then the battery dies, poof.

And all that just to see the fucking picture under sun.

I despise external recorders and external EVFs. None of the manufacturers have innovated. None of them have stepped out of their cinema bubble and come up with anything as elegant as a mirrorless camera's built in EVF.

FF vs S35 is not a comparison dependant on the codec. The aesthetic is different, the lenses are different, the lens circle is different. Discuss that, then we can discuss the codec separately because it is literally a separate topic!

EF lenses still rule, of course they do, so put one on L-mount with the Sigma adapter. Done.

Price chasm is not that big. In the UK for instance Pocket 6K is £2300 and S1H £3599.

But the Pocket 6K has no EVF so you need to add one for £1000

The Pocket 6K has no stabilisation so you need to add a cage and shoulder rig for £500.

Alas the Pocket 6K has a piddly little battery which the meter decides it has had enough off after 10 minutes with random shut downs, so add the v-lock for £300 minimum.

    Final price? £4100.

Don't get me wrong I love what Blackmagic did with the image and codec. Just wish it was in a different camera not the shit one they put it in.

but the pocket does 6k and not only in 24p...

I disagree, while a great story can make the viewer forget the camera,  turn down the sound and the footage needs to hold up. Many cameras can't help but feel digital. The S1H avoids this. That said, IQ is not really a weak point of any of the S lineup. Their Achilles heel tends to be autofocus. Granted if you are shooting with anamorphic lenses AF is probably not a concern, as anamorphic lenses usually require manual focus.

don't share that opinion, mostly it is just that grading is badly done. too many think grading is just about using a lut and that's it...

but sure it's all about the story.
