I shot an entire video duel focusing with the Bolex 16/32. It's not that bad once you get the hang. I was blind by the end of the day. Vision totally blurred. I use a ProtoDNA variable diopter now with a 40mm on GH5. I would recommend getting a single focus solution because of where and tear on the Bolex.

    So a small update.
After having played around with the lens on firmware 1.2 and now after updating to 1.3 I honestly think there has been an AF performance regression with 1.3.
I was getting acceptable AF performance at 4K 24p prior to 1.3, now its noticeably non responsive in the same shooting scenario (5 mins apart).
When shooting 60p, however, the AF is very snappy and accurate—more so than I remembered.
DfD really likes a higher sample rate.
On first impression the lens is great, like many have said. I can definitely hear and feel the AF motors compared to some other lenses.
The parfocal-ness claims I’ve seen are strange. It doesn’t hold focus when zooming in or out at all.
    Focus breathing is non-existent however.
Hoping to put together a video soon.

It's nice to have a nice camera, but a lot has to do what is happening in front and behind (!) the camera body. It's like when you were a kid shooting silly videos with your friends, playing out a combat scene perhaps or something. First thing that ruins it is an inadequate casting/wardrobe/location. A battlescene with 12 yr olds running around in casual clothing in a suburb neighbourhood with cringy acting doesn't really sell it. Same for the post production with too epic music thrown over it and Red Giant Magic Bullet Looks set to overdrive on the 'Michael Bay'-setting. But you live and you learn. Get the right talent in front of the camera, put 'em in a convincing setting, with the mood set right from the get-go and suddenly it's already much better. You change the kit zoom to a set of primes. You're giving camera movement more thought. In post you still stylize, but you don't go overboard. It's those touches that have little to do with the camera body itself that make the biggest difference. So when the title of this thread says 'everything else instead', indeed, ND filters and audio gear are exactly those kind of things.
I just got a little too carried away with pixel squeezing and forgot about the time and effort it takes to obtain and work with such thicc footage. And for what? So it looks slightly better to the 1% that would actually be able to tell a difference. I realized that I enjoy the shooting process the most. Thinking carefully about the scene, what it needs in terms of lighting, what look am I going for, what lens would suit that? That sorta thing. I actually don't enjoy just about anything that happens in post, so it was a bit foolish of me to get a new and exciting camera that would however make that whole part more tedious, but it's an easy trap to fall into. Atleast I realized it. ? Maybe I'll consider it once I can afford to have an editor work for me (that shares a similar mindset/creative vision).

Imo posting frame grabs from a video is meaningless. Because it does not score motion. I could stills from a Leica M10 as proof... but that wouldn't make a case for it being a great video camera.

I literally just sold my BMPCC4K to get the Leica 10-25mm f/1.7. I figured the camera wasn't worth my hassle and I much rather have a convenient and awesome lens. ?

I decided for the P4K last week, pre-ordered it and no regrets here.
Do not need 6K, the file sizes are enormous. Braw in 6K only and Prores only on other resolutions. I already own the super wooper dooper Olympus 12-100 for run n gun and already own Lens Regain M43/EF adapter for my EF lenses. Half the price helps also, as I also ordered a full Tilta cage with some accessories, HawksWood NPF battery adapter and Tilta Nucleus N with the rest of the money.
8K will be here before next summer, the game never stops..

@TurboRat you've resumed the whole thing pretty well, man : )
Other than that, it is a mere useless exercise. Typical forums empty talk or non-buyer(s) remorse, that is, nonsense excuses far from real to be plain honest here (and this is written by an early P4K user : -)

Personally, if I'm going to purchase a new camera and I had the budget, I'll go with the Pocket 6K. But I have invested in MFT lenses and they still serve me well. I have seen a side by side comparison of shots with the P4K and P6K and the P6K is def better. But if you remove the comparisons, no one's going to complain that you shot with a P4K, or Sony (unless they see the jello rolling shutter), as long as what's shown provides value to viewers. But I'm still dreaming of owning a P6K

Indeed it seems the P6K has a unique personality of its own. I don't know when it'll be ready, but I can say it will be something special.
An idea of what I've been kicking around: I rewrote the engine to work at whatever resolution on the fly. I did this to handle unique 97x/129x resolution passes that handle 'super' values beyond floating point 0.0 - 1.0. I've entirely remade the EC component in this larger space, and will be able to offer DCI-P3 variations (massively benefits 709 conversions as well)

Amazon is a bit expensive, so we try to minimize what is there and how long it stays. If you use the long term storage on S3, 50TB works out to somewhere around $200 per month, depending upon usage. The deep storage is cheaper, the other options can be way more expensive (5x-6x+). Be careful what you put in regular storage, as the price can add up quickly.
If you can get by with 6TB, Microsoft OneDrive was offering 6TB for $10 /mo, which is a pretty good deal. We use raid 6 network attached storage units with 8TB external drives as backups. We try to buy 2 or 3 drives per project and build it in to the cost of the project. I like using 6 disk network attached storage in a Raid 6 array. This gives 4 drives of usable storage, so using 12TB NAS drives gives you about 48TB of storage. This 48TB of storage costs around $3000. These drives *do* fail, so budget for replacing a drive per year in a big array.

The test footages actually look great on the P6K but it's not something that you can't reproduce on the P4K. But yeah the shakiness is kinda distracting if the shots are just people walking or stationary buildings

If I owned a RED then I would be very tempted to look down on the rest of the world with comical interest in what the 'little people' who 'are playing at film-making' and aren't serious because they didn't sell their house/car/wife to afford a 'real camera' and I would assume that because the P6K didn't impact the lofty place that I exhibit that it doesn't have any real impact on anyone else except the other cameras that play in the shallow end.
Of course, I don't own a RED and I don't view the world in that way, so I would beg to differ.  I think there's loads of people who shoot Canon and have invested in EF mount lenses, and who would love to record RAW but can't afford a C200, and this would be hugely interesting to them.
But in reality, I have a camera with fantastic IBIS and so I look down from the lofty place of cinematic hand-held film-making watching all these suckers slug around their tripods and huge camera rigs wishing deeply that they could leave the house without a boot full of equipment and not produce a video that has so much hand shake it looks like an 8mm home video.
Ah, but seriously folks...  I'll be here all week!   ???

As for the issue at hand, the fishing line indeed makes a cut through bokeh, but for a goPro it shouldn't be noticeable. The downside is that the gopro's lens is crazy wide and the fishing line technique doesn't usually play nice with wide angles. I can't think of much to do to make it flare more except working in post-production...

Most studios do not accept unsolicited material. So you would need an agent/manager to get you a meeting.

Ask me any questions you have. Disclaimer: I wasn’t able to get 6k raw to work and need to spend some time getting it in Resolve. For now... here is a first look and impression video with some footage. Some 6k raw was able to be transcoded to 1080p... but that’s it. Seriously been a pain in the neck but it is what it is....

If you bought a C200 and the pocket was even on your radar, then you probably bought the wrong camera regardless.
The benefits of the c200 are the ergonomics, auto focus, battery life, Internal NDs and reliability. The pocket can probably get close strictly image wise, but it’s a lot harder to get there.

I get on my Knees every night and pray for Emanuel. It has not seemed to help. I guess Meditation is sort of a waste of time if that doesn't work.
I guess I have reached a point of my usefulness on here as it falls on deaf ears. It changes but remains the same. I will leave all of you to you. Some deserve the others. Some pay the price. Such is life. Some learn, others continue the same. It has to be new knowledge learned. Why bother if not.
Greener pastures abound. Good luck on your journeys. All comes to and end like it or not. Such is life. I am done here. We will all be happier lol. I see no gains, probably not alone.. ? Enjoy, it won't last. Never does as they say. I will not be back, ever. Better things in life to spend your life on here.
