The vignetting is horrible in FF photo/video mode.  Totally unusable and the only way around it is to set photo and video to crop.  Keep a standard canon adaptors for any full frame use.  DPAF seems fine but i need to test it more.
Headed to a shoot, will post pics later!

    Ok. Let's agree on this.
There is noone to buy those two cameras for AF perfomance. They both rely on same technology that we all know it's not efficient.

Let's concetrate on image quality thay can deliver.

Yes, you're also right. Even though, let's not forget RED helped to 5DII came out as well as nathlas accurately left expressed, the most closer serious contender by then was EUR 103,000 (Cinealta F900) I well recall if not else because I was in the middle of a cooperative project only to afford one unit.
I myself jumped out the RED wagon as far as investment concerns when 5DII just arrived. My purchase is from early 2009 and I even produced a feature shot on this camera model among several other projects shot on VDSLR as called then, this one ending where we aimed for once shot directly to the big screen:

I'm sorry my fellow of boards, but such comparisons are truly unfair to say the least.
I've had my portion of personal contact with his people, work and company for a decade and a half now. Without mention to have had the privilege of private touch with the legend himself. Such antihero portrait is crappy lower resolution at best. Myth. Stinky sad one. Maybe if he would be a fool, he would equally bashed by usual detractors in a way or another.
It doesn't make justice to the individual who some other people have dealt with for real in the world over here.

On your compressed RAW remark, let's see:
They were the beginners to do it. Any doubt? Nothing else counts for the matter.
Would you do it in a different way? In the name of who or what?
    They only protect their property.

He's a legend made by himself. Without him, we'd never have the prices as low as we have today. I heard this from the mouth of a Sony VP in person. The story on his health needs which taken him away to his deserved retirement is not new BTW. Just made public now. He's a warrior, this fight has years. He didn't stop, he kept it going.
As well his inventive market introductions. Massively distributed. Ahead of his time. Unique master of his craft. An example but for every producer. He is one of the key factors of the digital revolution. We owe him our tools of nowadays.

We really should appreciate gratitude. It's disgusting otherwise.

Ι just don't want to imagine what our cine world would be without Jannard and his dream.
When Sony was asking more than 100k$ for a 2k cine camera and Jim delivered an -unfinished and unprepared but marvellous- camera for 15k$ ....
He was one of our breed's pioneers whether we like it or not.
I really respect him and owe him a lot .

Yeah unless you are certain of not buy RF lenses ( that would be weird since those lenses are the spear of R system)

They should put that in body even if mount was projectile like BMPCC6k.

Adapter with control ring is also usefall but this one could be a forever addon IF you didn't have to put a clear filter to fill the hole (why have a clear filter instead of nothing? a simple cap would do the job unless there is a reason for a glass to exist in that place ? ) and if that included a control ring as well.

    Well, case is solved then.

I assume that was a firmware evolution delay or clients pressure has done that .

I should have another EOS R at the end of the week. I have sent back a few of them because: First copy was a launch model and repeatedly froze and you could barely recover 1 stop in the shadows without seeing colored horizontal banding that was random. Second copy the continuous AF (video) would stop working, but looked like it was; had to turn off and on to make it work again. Third copy I had more freezing issues and a stuck pixel.
They definitely are not built to the same standard as my 1D cameras, but they have actually fixed a lot through firmware updates. It is a very good camera for photos with some 1080p video, or locked off 4k. I use it for 90% photos. The eye AF wasn't terrible before, it just didn't update the box on your screen very accurately (still nailed shot). Now, it fixes that, plus lets eye AF work from a long ways away.
The 1080p 24-30p actually looks really clean, but the 60p is muddy imo. 4k handheld with an IS lens (RF 24-105) can't even be stabilized in post because of the high RS of the camera. The lens IS isn't good enough to not stabilize in post, at least on that lens. I just ordered the new RF 24-70 f/2.8L, i'll see if that IS is any better. Honestly, I found that the 1080p with the lowest digital IS setting actually works damn good. You don't ever have any weird jerky/twitchy or sticky moments like you do with optical/ibis stabilization. I walked around NYC with a sigma 35mm and the digital IS on and it cropped in less than what warp stabilizer usually does and it looked nearly gimbal smooth.
I linked the vimeo video last year, but a Canon rep/engineer or someone of that nature, demoed the 1080p S35 mode in the EOS R. He said that it super samples in the S35 mode, I have tried it and it looks very impressive. The FF 1080p on the camera looks good as is.

You left out a key piece of info - they were shot in 1080p60.
Non-crop 1080p on all DSLR/mirrorless cameras is derived from pixel-binning, or line-skipping or a combination of both.
The artifacts you are seeing is moire and aliasing as a result from pixel-binning and line-skipping, this is very common and completely normal, it's particularly severe on S1 due to the lack of an OLPF.
