Compared to the GH5 it’s maybe 5% to 10% better, really just a little smoother.
Compared to the 85’s it’s about 25% better with vintage lenses from my limited testing. Way less jumpy and it looks more like you have a crappy gimbal vs having a non-fluid tripod head like on the GX85. I haven’t used the G85 very much, but it’s IBIS was similar (very good) to the GX85.
The additional advantages like the EVF and Olympus colors make it an easy winner over the GX85s poor EVF and overall lackluster colors and charm.
It’s a frustratingly nice camera. If Olympus could add some firmware updates, it could be a THE pocketable video camera to use with compact and vintage lenses.

    Just keep doing you, man!
The level to which brainless, artless social media whores have taken over representing creativity online is truly horrifying. Beyond shameful brand and corporate alignment, these folks have rendered the pursuit of art into a series of meaningless life hacks that give uncreative consumers the illusion of creativity. Want to be a great photographer? Strive for bokeh! Take long exposures of shorelines! Orange and teal everything! Lift those shadows to a mid-tone gray and vintagize your images by 30%! Consider these five tricks to make your photos look like [insert useless Instagram celebrity]! HDR it!
As with many dreamers, I used to believe that the internet would democratize the publication of art by empowering artists. It has—technically—done that I suppose, but what few considered until it was too late (for art, journalism, hell—the truth!) is that it would cheapen and destroy creativity by putting a good-enough facsimile within reach of any slob with a phone without them needing to actually learn the craft.
The good news is that cultural shifts come in waves that are eventually met with backlash. The hyper-shilling is already showing cracks and it’s fairly young. People in my country are witnessing the fatal outcome of celebrity worship via our presidential nightmare. I think we’re nearing a tipping point where authenticity will be highly valued again and I want folks like you to be around to reap the rewards!

Maybe I'm jaded, nothing about any of these videos wows me, and they all look like they could've been from an A7III, an X-T3 or the NX1.

@Andrew Reid I agree. Based on the footage shown so far it has finally caught up with the NX1 in terms of codec and overall performance. Fuji is still in the camera business and Samsung isn’t, so I would call this the NX1 successor. With the amount of support Fuji puts behind cameras and their lens fab capabilities this and the X-H2 could finally dethrone Samsung after ~4 years.
in the next 3 months we will know for sure if this is a contender or pretender. My bet is on contender.

I will gladly come to NZ, maybe we can get Red Bull to sponsor it for their Red Bull TV documentary series.

Didn’t see any banding in that one either, and I’m not even buying the camera. Fucking bunch of whiny spec freaks in this thread. Like charbax who is extremely disappointed that the x-t3 doesn’t have EVERYTHING HE NEEDS.

To see where all of this is headed in the video/photo/creative professional space online, go and read some “mom blogs” and forums for a half hour or so. Corporations have been doing the things we are starting to see in regards to “lifestyle” and blurring the lines between in-house marketing and fans of the brand / product for 5 to 7 years.
Its the reason why a $2 dog chew toy can be sold as a $30 teething soother (Sophie for those of you who haven’t tried to raise a kid in the last 8 years) your child can’t survive or learn how to do long division without.

Quick follow up.  I shot some 120p video on the X-H1 using a Fuji 35mm 2.0 with all of the different peaking settings (Off, Low and High) and all different colors (Yellow, Red, Blue, White) and i saw no difference in the aliasing / ghosting.
Then I thought maybe a non-fuji lens would make a difference so tried the same test with a Rokkor 45mm.  No difference.
The odd thing is, it almost seems like the processor is sending the peaking data to the recording some how even if it's not turned on.  Could be my eyes, or it could be confirmation bias... Maybe the software coding is sloppy, maybe it's the IBIS, maybe I suck as a cinematographer...
TL:DR Turning the peaking on or off made no difference

I think you might be onto something... We don't see this on the X-T2 120p only on the X-H1.  I wonder if the "high" peaking setting only available on that cam is the reason.  Off to do some testing, I'll report back.

Looks like the 2k is up to 200.
If this camera is as popular with the rest of the film/video community (We have too many Fuji camera's as it is...) maybe we'll see Sigma or Tamaron make some X series lenses.  The popularity might also force Fuji into re-releasing some of their primes with OIS and *crosses fingers* adding OIS to optically spectacular 16-55mm brick.
We're going to pre-order one, so when it comes in, let us know what tests you would like to see and we'll post them up.

CyclingBen got a reaction from MacMurphy in Fuji X-H1 Firmware Update 1.10
Finally did the update for the new X-H1 firmware yesterday.  Here are my first impressions:
Autofocus in AF-C is leaps and bounds better.  My test shots on some birds and physically walking up to and away a moving subject were very good.  Using the 16-55mm zoom lens it was able to accurately track my wife walking around the yard watering plants while I slowly walked from one end of the yard to another. Auto ISO transitions are super smooth and almost imperceptible. While I rarely use the Auto setting for video, it's nice to know I could use it in a conference or presentation situation and be okay. IBIS is slightly improved.  Using the fuji 16-55mm, a 45mm minolta and 55mm super tak I didn't find as many huge jumps and shifts while panning.  I'm sure this will be the focus of their next update. The overall system stability seems to be worse.  I had 3 write errors happen while just messing around with the camera. All three happened while shooting in manual with peaking turned on.  I'll be testing this more. Here is a link to the firmware if you're looking to upgrade

Overall a really good firmware update, looking forward to the '2.0' update that is rumored for September

It's really impressive.  I've found Eterna works better on the X-H1 and X-T2 for indoor and lowlight shots and the Fuji WDR works better for brightly lit and outdoor scenes.
If only these camera's had better battery life, that's about all I can find to complain about any more, they actually make shooting fun!
