Nice. No mention if he was filming in 4K or 1080p. 4K is much worse.
Have a vlogger use it (it’s got a flip screen right perfectly made for it) have them film in 4K.  Whoops it’s got a 1.7x crop that even at 16-35mm will feel close. Have them walk around filming in 4K and you will feel like you are on acid in some whackey fun house mirror room every time they swing the camera to show you something.
Take a nice ride on a train, a car, or a bus if you prefer. Film out the window in 4K. Doesn’t matter?
Filming some birds in 4K. You track them as you pan with their flight. Enjoy the jello telephone polls, lamp posts, and trees.
    It matters.

I had a play with a friends EOS-r and the RS is bad in 4k, and I could see it just from normal handheld no need for whip pans as you keep on saying - reminded me of the a6300 I used to have, am sensitive to RS and I'm not alone. No need to defend what is an obvious drawback with the EOS-r. I find that hard to stomach on a £2300 camera - if this new cheaper camera is $1300 with clog and less of a crop then I may be willing to put up with the issue

    1. I shoot sports videography which i specified in my OP, been using that A6300 for well over 2 years the only issue is batterylife. I have a friend that does the exact same thing I do an uses a 5Dmk4. And if you watch his videos you can see it struggling to keep up. DPAF is fine for slower moving subjects but have you tried using it with fast moving sport? It suffers. As said by many sony video af is faster/better for fast moving subjects.
    2. Wooden Rosette handles are extremely comfortable, have you ever used one? I see a ton of FS7, FS5, URSA, CXXX, users running after market ones.
    4. Have you ever used a good quality external monitor? Its an experience to say the least. A Smallhd on camera monitor is going to be better than ANY built in camera screen. To say otherwise your just a troll. To my knowledge the only affordable cameras with built in waveforms is the GH line, false color?, vector scope? A larger image to make sure my framing is good? I bet you would agree pulling focus on a 7 inch screen is a lot easier than with any 3+- inch screen.
    5. I rarely shoot 4K in games, 98% of the time slow motion. (I do the post game highlights), what canon camera does 120fps slow motion with usable autofocus in 1080? NONE
    6. Weather sealing doesn't exist. If it did all cameras would come with a legit IPX rating. Ive shot tones of games in the rain with zero issues ?
    7. With that photo you linked, yes the photogs are shooting CanNikon as sony doesn't have the Tele primes like those 2. But its funny bc you better believe the super bowl last year as well as tonight is being broadcasted by Sony XDCAM cameras.
    8. Ya ima a Sony fanboy as ive said on this website numerous times, before I switched as I was one for Canon and atm im looking @ switching to Panasonic.
    9. I don't upgrade my cameras left n right like other people, so thats why I've been using my A6300 for over 2 years. It does what I need it to, puts food on the table for me. The XT3, and A7iii don't bring enough for me to want to upgrade immediately. Because I only have 3 lenses and universal accessories, when something from Fuji, Panasonic or Sony gets released with all the specs that I need for my line of work i will upgrade.
I've never said Sony is perfect or the best for every genre. You justify using canon in basically EVERY thread related to that brand on this forum, I can do the same.

Riiiight, because your comment doesn't come off at all like Sony fanboyism.
You might have had a case if you were using an A9 series (rest aren't even weather sealed). But the A6300... better than Canon.. for sports really? Cmon.
The joke of the LCD rear display with less than 1M px (not even half of EOS R's resolution) requires that monitor on top. Lack of ergonomics means you need that side handle.
That camera has worst RS than EOS R (more than double in FHD), overheats after like 15mn, AF nowhere near DPAF, no touchscreen, no IBIS/IS, weak battery life etc..
Yeah what a pro solution over Canon that camera is ? Better not rain during the game.. meanwhile Super Bowl last year:

    RIP CANON ?

As good as the image is on the EOS R, I just don't see how it's a practical camera with that big crop and slow readout, unless you're on a planned shoot where you purposely take the required lenses. I won't take this product line seriously until they remove the crop and also improve the battery life.

No they Use to do a thing or two right. That is the problem. The 5D mk III was the last FF camera they made that was a real effort. Class leading on the video side. They have lost most of the Pro C market now. They are just sliding down into the shitter as far as I am concerned. They have went from the best you can do mindset, to lets just push the shit out the door mindset. To me they are not the leader of anything anymore. Even the L lenses are mostly crap for the video side. EF-S lenses work better overall. They have become a 1990's company.

To add to what @Michi just wrote... after spending some years reading this site, I think the most logical approach for many forum users here is to go and buy a cinema camera and use the right tool for the job.

Yeah does look like oil spots. I had the same crap on my A7s. I Had to send it in to get cleaned. I could Never get the sensor cleaned after god knows how many tries with different reasonably expensive products. I just about wore the coatings off my lenses before I figured it was the sensor.

Snowbro reacted to Nikkor in is it possible to use Luts for grading raw stills in Photoshop orLlightroom?
Yes you can use Luts in Photoshop.
When you open a raw in Photoshop you will get the ACR window. At the bottom it will say "Adobe RGB (1998), 8bit, etc..." click on this. Now select 16bit, and also click "Open in Photoshop as Smart Objects".
This simple step will give you the best quality and let you do RAW adjustments after opening the file in PS (just double click on the thumbnail on the layer window).
Now you can make an Adjustment layer called "Color Lookup" which will let you select a lut. (you can do this without the first step)

Its about time we saw a new Hasselblad vlogging camera though as their last one was released 50 years ago.
And people criticise Canon for slow product refreshes.
Their solution to getting fluid stabilised shots by making the operator and the camera float was out of this world.

For someone who owns a C200 and 1DXII and films his face then yeah, the EOS R makes a lot of sense. You can use the same lens, easy to match in post, the colors right out of the box need less grading than let's say a Sony. You don't need wide angle and you have little to no movement and you do not use slowmo (on the EOSR, you have the 1DX for that). So yeah that's a lot of sense.
Now someone like me who is not into one ecosystem, who needs wide angle (mountain/extreme sports/landscape shooting) 80% of the time, who needs slowmo, and who needs decent RS due to action well, the EOS-R is garbage, even for $500 I would not get one.
And while I am a specific case, I think most video oriented people do want decent RS, use their lenses without 1.7 crop and a lot do want slowmo too. So overall objectively this camera is an epic fail.

It's very good that it cant fit the need of a minority of people and specific use for sure. Hopefully they will release something with 4K60P and no crop. I love Canon bodies and ergonomics. My first ever DSLR was a Canon. I then owned the 5D2 and 5D3, at which point the competition started to be much much better.

That’s true, for that shot, since it only requires minimal DR, a neutral profile or the Marvel profile may be more than enough DR to capture everything cleanly.

What software are you using @Snowbro?
LUTs are a last-resort for me, but in Resolve there are more options than other platforms, so you play the cards you have
I agree with @mercer about exposing C-Log as ETTR, or just don't shoot C-log unless you need to for the DR.
I suspect that the LUT you use probably isn't the issue, it's the image.  The way to check this is to film a scene in C-Log, and in one of the normal modes (whatever takes your fancy) and then compare the following:
the normal profile SOOC the C-Log with a LUT the C-Log graded manually to match the LUT I suspect you'll see that the last two are pretty similar, although that will depend on how many tools your software has and how good at grading you are.  Even if this just re-affirms what you already know, you'll still learn something.

I don’t think you should be normal exposing C-Log... I think you’ll get the best results with ETTR. I can’t say for sure that it will cure this issue though.

I think once you accept that DPReview an Amazon owned company, which basically makes it an Amazon message board masquerading as a legitimate user driven community, then you should just let stuff like that wash over you.
By contributing any expertise or insight to those forums then you are effectively just helping build and add credibility to a stealth advertising platform for Amazon (for free!) which they will always ultimately exert control over in the way that fits in with their agenda of selling gear.
Thats why in your situation they turn a blind eye to people being attacked rather than the camera.
As I mentioned earlier in the thread, the fact that the 64/24 year old filmmaker/dentist/banged to rights scam artist is one of their respected contributors should be enough reason for people to ask themselves if they wan't to belong to a club that would have someone like that as a member.

Got a GX9 arriving tomorrow... about time I did a review of something cheap with the big shift to high-end stuff. Let me know what you'd like to see in the review of it.
